2. The aim I was working towards was creating and producingan opening title. The narrative was based around anaverage man who inherits his grandmothers job of beingan undercover spy. However, all is not well as he strugglesto overcome many problems including a strain on hisrelationship as his new job begins to take over his life. It isbased on an action, comedy genre and felt it would have arelation to similar films such as Johnny English and GetSmart. The title sequence involves overlaying video footagecreated by changing the opacity of each video, this is torepresent the two sides of Mr Teddys life one of him livinga normal life and the other of his secretive new job. 3. Target Audience 4. We would want a majorWe chose Universal as our The budget for Childs Playfilm studio supporting our film producer because it haswhich Universal producedfilm because it wouldproduced similar films tocontribute to a successful Call Me Mr Teddy such as; was $72million, which isoutcome; as our film isNanny McPhee andalmost the same as ourmass appealing the filmBeethoven these films film; this presents howstudio would mean larger have a target audience very similar to ours which include successful Universal is inadvertising, pre setaudience/ fan base and sonuclear families. They have advertising the film so itwill help us achieving a also produced films withwould make a successful the same classificationsuccessful box office. ratings to ours PG. revenue. 5. The transitions of the typography follows the conventions of its genre because it issimilar to films such as Johnny English. The way in which it slides off the screen is torepresent speed, this is a key aspect throughout any action film. The typography itselfis to represent child like handwriting, this brings in the comedy genre because it showsMr Teddy to have a lack in knowledge; this also follows the conventions of its genre asit can relate to Johnny English breaking the chair as he plays with it in a child likemanner. 6. Conventions and Social groups 7. Throughout the pre-production we were constantly receivingfeedback from our target audience, we collected the data fromyounger family members and students around school; we thenpresented this data through tally charts and graphs. I felt thishelped throughout the process because it presented what wouldbe successful and what wouldnt. 8. Addressing the audienceIn the title sequence we address the audienceby using a similar typography to the ones wefound in films that targeted our audienceincluding Get Smart and Johnny English. We made the protagonist humorous and childlike so the target audience would be able torelate to him. We also made the mis-en-scnesimple and easy to understand; and finally chosemusic which connotes energy and fun. 9. TechnologiesI have learnt how to use a range of technologiesfrom this project but the most important would beto always use a tripod as this gives the outcome aprofessional and sophisticated appearance. I havealso learnt how to key in a green screen anddiscovered the outcome doesnt always meet myexpectations. Having little editing skills I found FinalCut Pro quite confusing and feel I would need morepractise in order to form a smooth, high qualityoutcome. Overall I feel this project has expandedmy knowledge on technologies and has presentedhow some aspects need more practise andunderstanding than others. 10. What I have learntLooking at my final product I dont feel it is as successful as it could have been, even thoughI feel our pre-production was very thought out and organised I feel we over looked howhard creating the title sequence would actually be. To improve this I think our original ideashould be more simple, this would mean the outcome would have continuity, the simplicityof it would also form an effective outcome. I feel we tried to involve too many scenes whichended up leading to confusion, the overlaying of clips also meant the sequence narrativewas hard to understand; this would be unsuccessful for our target audience because theyare of a younger age and wouldnt be able to work out what was happening. I alsodiscovered it is easier and quicker to re-shoot certain scenes than try to fix them in theediting process, this not only saves time but also makes the outcome more sophisticated. Ifeel the typography and transitions were highly successful because of the previouslymentioned comments. I feel we could also improve on performance because I dont feelthe acting was convincing, it feels as if the actors are going through the motions/actions butnot actually expressing the character we hoped they would. Another issue we faced as agroup was team work, I feel we needed to communicate our ideas, problems and overallfeelings during the process. However, as a result of this confusion was created which causedslight conflict between us; this has shown me how it is better to work together to form anorganised and successful outcome, than against each other for many mistakes to take place.Overall the outcome good be highly improved but I feel this project has highlighted manyproblems I can work on in the future; it has also widened my knowledge oncinematography, technologies and producing a title sequence.
