Also appeals to rock audience as guitar is highlighted as if to show he was playing live at a concert. Photo is set up using cream/darker white lighting gives the photo effect and makes the artist look rebellious. Artist is also highlighted against background to show facial expressions of rebellion which highlights the power he has.

Mise en scene – Lighting dimmed lighting used in photo to keep to conventions of rock genre by using darker lighting gives artist a darker outlook, conventions of music magazine by using specific coloured lighting for a photo shot photo for the main image.

Mise en scene background – Cream/White backdrop keeps conventions of music magazines using a photo shot main image. Also allows for titles and pull quotes to be highlighted and top of background – Background covers both pages article sits on top of backdrop.

Mise en scene – Main image is rock genre orientated. He has typical features of a rock band member with long hair with a rebellious facial expression as well as a dark gig t shirt which all conform to the rock genre also highlights key prizes from competitions that can be won elsewhere in the magazine.

Mise en scene – Main image uses an instrument which is clearly highlighted across the 2nd page which is a key convention of rock genre as target audience will appeal to instruments as they are directly relatable to rock genre and Celebrity lead singer.

Layout – Layout is specifically designed so that highlight of the double page spread is the lead singer which appeal to most of the target audience. But also the article itself does not conflict with the page divide and is sat across the main image.

Title – Keeps to house style by using the same font as front cover and the same colour scheme ,white blocky caps for title. Takes up 1/5 page to highlight double page spread article. Title is simply Kasabian so that focus is on the artists name and target audience are attracted as a result. Counted as the second most appealing part of the page appeals to fans who take interest in the artist band.

Pull quote – house style used same colour scheme kept across front cover and articles inside the magazine using the same small detailed font with red fill to highlight it above title. Emotive language used such as “Around the clock partys” informal mode of address used allows readers to read an article which speaks to them on there level and is relatable, This emphasises the articles keeping reader interested sums up content in article whilst highlighting news that will make the reader want to look further forward in the magazine such as their “Latest single” .

Image title – Used as a quote from the lead singer of Kasabian deliberately to “speak to the reader” using a informal mode of address also appeals to reader as it shows a snippet of the article and will make them want to read on further . Keeps the house style by using same white blocky capital font used on title to article – Used as a pull quote.

First attempt – Used darker simple colours to highlight the masthead, Font in italics didn’t match the rock genre.

Second attempt – Use of blocky capitals makes the title more “aggressive” and fits better with music genre. Use of dark colouring as a colour fill conforms with rock genre,

Third attempt – Use of blocky capitals to highlight outer lines of the font highlights it further whilst keeping a blocky aggressive title that will fit with the rock genre,

Use of smaller font I feel did not give it a dominant looking title. Dark shading emphasises rock genre conventions.

Blocky capitals emphasise the masthead, Use of small shading doesn't highlight lettering enough.

Use of thin italics I feel does not reach the conventions of rock genre as there it is not dark and a powerful title more suited to luxury magazines or female based gossip magazines.
