10:30 – 11:30 A Frightening Presentation on the Increase in Bad DebtMarquis Salon 2

Don PaulsonBad debt is like a bad Penny. It just keeps turning up.

There was an assumption that the advent of Medicaid expansion and the ACA exchanges would reduce the amount of bad debt experienced by healthcare providers. Early results looked like bad debt was being brought down to more manageable amounts. However, as the impact of significantly higher deductibles and co-payments began to be realized, the industry has realized that bad debt is not going away and will require time, effort and a multi-faceted strategy to manage.

2:30 – 3:30 Improving Revenue Cycle Outcomes: Harnessing the Power of Process Analytics and Automated Workflow

Marquis Salon 2 Sara Emery and Kimberly Scaccia

KPMG Taking data and learning what's next!  Here's an opportunity to hear about automated business process modeling:  Not just solving a single problem, but knowing how to effectuate long term change within the revenue cycle.

Recently organizations have turned their attention toward improving revenue cycle processes and activities in an effort to increase efficiency, reduce costs and – ultimately – shore-up sagging margins. While some improvements have been made industry-wide, few organizations have taken full advantage of the opportunities to achieve significant results from their efforts.By incorporating business process management (BPM) and a process analytics approach, organizations can start to understand not only where the anomalies are in their processes, but also identify the root causes of those anomalies. Knowing your organization has a problem is great; but knowing how to resolve that problem and reduce process cycle time is best. With automated BPM, it’s not just about solving a single problem, but rather seeing how the problem manifests and interrelates across the entire revenue cycle ecosystem which, in turn, can lead to opportunities to drastically reduce local optimization within the revenue cycle.
