1 Just the beginning... MEMORIALMISSIONS November 11, 2012 If you were to measure Memorial’s most recent trip to Kenya by the numbers, it was surely a success. Over ten days, nine missionaries from Memorial Katy (and a con>ngent from Trinity Sealy) joined others from Trinity Klein and St. John Cypress to offer four vision clinics across Kenya. Over 7,000 individuals were seen, 1,800 of them at Oloitokitok and over 2,000 at Rongai, where our teams were deployed. For Memorial, this was our second trip to Oloitokitok, in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro, to offer vision clinics and present the Gospel in conjunc>on with the mercy care ministry. During the week we gave out 500 distance glasses, scores of reading glasses and, by the grace of God, saw at least four people come to faith in Christ, three of them former Muslims. At home, we had over 40 people praying for us and a rally of support from individuals who commiMed their >me, talents and treasures to helping this trip be a success. We made over 1,700 glasses cases and received over $50,000 in contribu>ons for future trips. While these numbers are impressive, exci>ng and indica>ve of the good work that God has prepared for us to be a part of in Kenya, the most stunning aspect of it all is that this trip, along with our exploratory trip in April, was just the beginning. This trip was part of an ongoing partnership. Looking to the future, we will con>nue to send two teams a year to Kenya to offer vision clinics and share the Gospel (April & October). April 1828, 2013 we will return to Oloitokitok with our own team. It is our hope to engage in this partnership for the indefinite future, and it is massively encouraging knowing how much our congrega>on is behind this ini>a>ve! God is at work in our congrega>on, in Kenya, through this partnership. It is an exci>ng >me to be at Memorial and to look forward to what God has in store for us, and for Kenya, in the months and years to come. Thank you for your support, and be sure to read the back of this sheet to learn more about geZng involved as we move towards the future. Amani. Vicar Ken

If   you  were  to  measure  Memorial’s  most   recent  trip   to   Kenya   by   the   numbers,   it   was   surely   a  success.

Have you caught the maono?Maono means “v i s ion” in KiSwahili. Have you caught the vision for our partnership in Kenya?

Perhaps your heart was captured by the opportunity to serve the people of Kenya by offering sight to the blind. Or maybe your soul was stirred by the stories of those who asked for the forgiveness of sins or came to faith in Christ through the testimony of believers like you.

Maybe it wasn’t a moment or a story, but a feeling that you need to be a part of this partnership. You feel called to it. Drawn to it. The Holy Spirit is at work inside of you - pull ing, pushing, prodding, provoking.

So what’s the next step? How will you get involved?

There are a few ways you can be part of our partnership in the future:

+ Be a part of the April team, who will serve in Kenya April 18-28, 2013.

+ Support our teams through prayer as part of our dedicated prayer team.

+ Support our missionaries with your finances, donate to our mission fund.

+ Sponsor a child through World Vision for as little as $35 a month and change the life of kids in Kenya.

However you decide to get involved, we are excited to have you be part of the partnership.

Through the Kenya vision clinics we are seeing lives transformed in the villages of East Africa and in the suburbs of Katy. People are seeing the world clearly for the first time, and others have their eyes opened to what God is doing among the nations. We are seeing the vision that Christ has in store, and following him where he leads. Will you join us? Have you caught the maono?
