Marhaba! Welcome to our latest issue of Meinhardt MENA News that aims to keep our clients, associates and well-wishers abreast of the key events taking place within our rapidly expanding MENA business and international operations. We have gotten off to an exciting start in 2015. We continue to be awarded several high profile projects in key markets in GCC as we continue to expand our operations in the region. Further afield, we are pleased to be the lead engineers for the tallest tower in Africa which is being spearheaded by our Dubai office. We have listed some of our new projects in this issue. We have also been active with Cityscape in 2015 having participated in the Abu Dhabi (Apr 21-23) and Qatar (May 11 – 13) exhibitions where we received a tremendous response from our clients. We also unveiled our new MENA brochure which showcases our latest achievements, contributions and commitments to the region. The MENA region remains one of our most exciting and high priority markets which I personally oversee. Through our local and international presence, we have mobilized our global experience and capabilities to deliver the increasingly sophisticated and complex requirements for both infrastructure and real estate projects in the region. The Ministry of Interior (MOI) project consists of residential housing with comprehensive facilities The total built-up area is 3.1 million sqm. Meinhardt Group is the lead consultant providing Architectural, C&S Engineering, MEP Engineering, Infrastructure adaptation and urban planning services.

The King Abdullah Project 5 encompasses the development of the Ministry of Interior’s Security Headquarters for MOI throughout the Central, Western and Eastern regions. There are a total of 77 sites with built-up area of 564,255 sqm. Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum is located on a 60 hectare waterfront site on the northern side of the Turkish peninsula. It is designed by a collaboration of prominent Turkish and international architects with a total built up area of 350,000 square feet. Meinhardt has been tasked with providing structural engineering services.

The Ikitelli Integrated Health Campus is the largest hospital complex in Europe with a total built-up area of 10.5 million square feet containing 2,682 beds. It also boasts the largest use of seismic base isolators in a single building project.

The Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai will be a leading institution for contemporary art and will located at the Culture Village on the Dubai Creek. The centre is intended to become a creative hub promoting entrepreneurship and emerging artists from the Middle East, North Africa and the rest of the world. The development comprises a 5 storey art centre with a total area of 14,957 sqm. Meinhardt is appointed to provide design peer review, structural and M&E engineering services.

The proposed location for the new mega service center is a plot of 27,600 sqm on street no. 16–Industrial Area composed of 3 levels with a total built up area of around 65,000 sqm – one of the largest Toyota services centre in the world. Once completed the Mega center will have the capacity to service approaching 300 units per day with a storage capacity of around 1,500 cars. Meinhardt group is the lead consultant.

06AAB Service CentreDoha, Qatar

ARWA tower and elegant and minimalistic 41-storey tower will be used as hotel apartments located in the popular area of Westbay, Doha-Qatar. The tower comprises of different amenities such as a contemporary lobby with international restaurant, mezzanine cafeteria, indoor pool, gym, business and conference rooms plus 287 rooms and apartments with different layouts for the demanding and growing area, in 60,525 sqm.

Meinhardt is providing lead engineering, structural and MEP services for the Nairobi Towers. The proposed development comprises of two high rise buildings (300m 66-story office tower and 201m 40-story hotel) with a retail podium over four floors car parking. When completed in 2018, Nairobi Towers will be the tallest building in Africa.

Since 1995, Meinhardt has provided integrated engineering services and Lead Consultancy to the MENA region. We now have a total of seven offices in the GCC (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Bahrain Manama, Riyadh, Kuwait City and Muscat) and also in Istanbul and Kenya.

With our expanding repertoire of services for the MENA region, Cityscape 2015 provided us with an excellent platform and opportunity to showcase our current regional projects and capabilities.

The annual trade show tookplace from the 21st - 23rd April inthe National Exhibition Centrein Abu Dhabi and from the 11th - 13th May in Doha ExhibitionCenter in Qatar. The Meinhardt team was led by Dr.Mohamed Saleh, Country Director for Meinhardt Qatar and Abu Dhabi and the senior MENA management team.

Amongst the projects featured during the event was the ARWA Tower and The Galleria in Abu Dhabi as well as the AAB service centre, Alaatedah and Vendome Shopping malls in Qatar. These developments helped cement Meinhardt’s philosophy as a leader in sustainable design, whilst not compromising on standard and excellence.

Meinhardt launched its new informational brochure at the Cityscape exhibitions in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. The new brochure contains a selection of our ground-breaking projects in the region. It also showcases projects in our now expanded geographical presence into Turkey and Africa.
