Our leisure guide is a magazine that we hope meets the needs of our citizens

in choosing activities and programs that we provide for our residents.

Our programs and the upkeep of our facilities is our councils focus on having a healthy

community and well maintained facilities for the public.

We are continually approving funding to maintain and upgrade these facilities, which

will allow us to all of our facilities in the best condition for sport and recreation year

round.

Our staff continue to explore all possible grant funding that would assist in bringing

these projects to fruition.

Feel free to contact our leisure service department if you would like to inquire about

certain programs, activities or to see certain programs are improved on.

Our leisure department is located on our website or in the staff directory in this

guide.

Fun, fast-paced entertainment for the whole family, on one of the last operating dirt tracks in the province of B.C. Racing runs roughly every 3 weeks starting the May long weekend right through to the Thanksgiving weekend. During the summer most races are under the lights. K - 3 & Gr. 4 - 7March 30 - June 25 . 16 wks3:00 pm - 5:30 pm After school programs play an important role in the academic and personal development of children, especially in an era when many parents work full time. each day includes TrANsPOrTATiON (from central, Bench, Diamondvale & collettville), snacks, and a safe, enriching and fun place to go.

Babysitter Course . 12+ yrs Thursday, July 2 – Friday, July 39:00 am – 5:00 pmThe Babysitter’s course provides preteens & teens with the basic skills they need to look afterchildren, understand basic prevention, and deal with emergen-cy situations. upon course completion, participants receive a babysitting certificate. First Sticks . 2 - 5 yrsTuesdays, April 14 – May 12 . 5 wks3:30 – 4:15 pm . $30This introduction program teaches basic skills of hockey, in-cluding teamwork, passing, shooting and game play. Game playing is an integral part of each day with all participants enjoying success in a positive, fun filled atmosphere. sticks provided.

Interested In Becoming an Aqua Fit Instructor? Cala Vertical Water Training . 16 yrsDates TBA This comprehensive course includes the essential tools necessary to design and lead safe, effective, holistic water based group classes and one to one sessions geared to a variety of people with a diversity of health conditions from healthy to post rehabilitation. The pre-requisite course content meets the needs of experienced fitness leaders as well as lifeguards, health care providers, personal trainers, coaches, participants and aspiring leaders; and exceeds the Provincial and Federal Guidelines and standards. This course is a BcrPA approved course, and is recognized and accredited by YMcA and YWcA facilities, various provincial and national fitness organizations (canfitpro, cPTN, cFes, NsFlA, sPrA, AFlcA) and canadian universities and colleges.

Cala Group Aqua Fitness . 16 yrsDates TBAThe next step is the Group Aqua Fitness course which includes the essential tools necessary to design and lead safe, effective, holistic aquafitness classes and programs. The course content meets the needs of experienced aquafitness leaders as well as lifeguards, aerobic instructors, personal trainers, coaches, participants and aspiring leaders; and exceeds the Provincial and Federal Guidelines and standards. This course is a BcrPA approved course, and is recognized by selected YMcA and YWcA facilities and canadian universities and colleges. The course is accredited by many other international, national and provincial fitness organizations.Adding Group Aqua Fitness to the learning experience provides the opportunity for aspiring aquafitness leaders and participants to expand their knowledge about fitness theory related to water. Anatomy and physiology is presented in an applied manner with respect to exercising in water. Group Aqua Fitness provides increased opportunity to practice and fine tune leadership skills to gain confidence in preparation for the certification process.
