The UAE’s only premier power generation, transmission and distribution Conference & Exhibition. The middle East

Smart Grid & Innovation will take place on 22nd -23rd, Feb 2017 at Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In collaboration

with Arab Union of Electricity, the event will attract over 300+ senior level executives to discuss progress, future

developments and best practices across industries sectors for the GCC Countries featuring the active contribution

of UAE as one of the engines powering the 2030 vision forward in power generation in all forms, be it Clean Energy,

Solar, natural gas, or renewable energy. As Gulf Interconnection is one of the most important transnational

infrastructure projects to have been undertaken in the Middle East The mega-sized pooling of electricity resources

will interconnect the power grids of the six Gulf States as its major revolutionary project around the region.

This is compounded by the emergence of United Arab Emirates as a key players in the general progress of the GCC

region. Events such as the upcoming WorldExpo 2020 are testament to Dubai’s growing importance. However,

resources must keep up with the pace of the rapidly unfolding socio-economic events in United Arab Emirates

Robust economic development coupled with rapid urbanization and increasing consumption patterns have led to a

keen focus on sustainable power generation in the GCC region in general and United Arab in particular. The

population boom in the Middle East is expected to show substantial growth of 31% by 2025, with GDP growth

projections of 4.3% by 2020. This culminates in tremendous pressure being exerted on the resources of the MENA

region. The results can be observed across the region. On one hand, GCC countries are all set to invest over $300

billion in energy projects by 2020, while on the other, $283 billion is expected to be invested within the MENA

region’s power sector between 2014 and 2018.

The Middle East Smart Grid & Innovation 2017 aims to establish an understanding as to how smart grids can be an

essential part of the GCC with context to interconnections by action planning, in response to government emission

restrictions, Sustainability, Clean power to Increase Resiliency, Cost Optimization, Etc. The conference also bridges

the gap between international service providers and the primary market to benchmark technologies, Regulations,

and Contracting companies. Presentations from the leading lights of the industry combined with active

government support make this event truly a must-attend one.
