The Naylor ducting system comprises three main components: ducting pipes, access chambers and covers and frames.

Naylor 50-300mm ducting is manufactured to BBA and BS EN61386 as required by the Highway Agency.

BBA - All Naylor twinwall duct is fully compliant to the new BBA certification for sealed systems (if required) which incorporates sizes 63mm - 178mm OD in 6 metre lengths.

Metro duct is available in smooth wall, twinwall and singlewall corrugated profiles. The lightweight, flexible duct copes with trench undulations and the high impact resistance minimises special preparation of beds and eliminates the need for special surrounds in most instances.

Naylor Metro twinwall ducting offers the advantages of a lightweight flexible product combined with high strength and durability. MetroTwin (sticks) and MetroFlex (coils)are designed to meet the required compression strength to current Highways specification and are supplied in various colours and markings to suit NJUG recommendations. Manufactured in polyethylene, the pipe is normally supplied in either 6 metre lengths or 50 metre coils. The external corrugated profile gives the product added strength and the internal bore is smooth to prevent cables from snagging. If required, a sealed joint

Twinwall Jointing Procedure(Sealed System)

For 63mm,110mm,120mm,145mm, 160mm and 178 mm DUCT

1) Always ensure that the pipe end is free from dirt, grit, soil etc.

• Remove any damaged end sections of the pipe.

2) Place the seal within the 3rd valley of the twinwall corrugated pipe. (2nd valley for 178/150mm pipe)

• Ensure both pipe ends are raised off the ground before lubricating to ensure no grit or dirt is picked up when lubricant is applied .

3) To help place the seal in the valley lubricate valley before fitting .

• Lubricate around the outside edge of the seal and pipe, also lubricate both internal sides of the coupler using Naylor lubricant.

4) Push the coupler onto the pipe with seal, ensuring the pipe end is flush with the central stop positioned within the middle of the coupler.

5) Place the next pipe inside the coupler and push the pipe with seal into the coupler.

6) Air test - Test inline with current Highway specifications, ensuring that the correct test equipment is used (4" ‘U’ Gauge).

7) Installation - Follow all current Highway specifications, ensuring that the correct bedding material is used.

8) Pipes which require cutting to size, should be cut using a course toothed saw. Cuts should be made in the valley section of the pipe and should be square to the axis of the pipe. Before jointing, ensure the pipe ends are free of sharp edges, swarf, grit and handling damage.

9) If this procedure is not followed and Naylor lubricant is not used, the air tight system guarantee is invalid.


NaylorAccessChamberPremium Access System

The pioneers of the prefabricated HDPE Access

Chamber were Poet Plastics in the 1980's. The

HDPE access chamber was a revolution to duct

chambers and the Poet chamber became

specified via a large number of local authorities.

Naylor’s acquisition of Poet’s business and tooling

some 10 years ago allowed the company to

complete its comprehensive duct range.

Subsequent investment in design and tooling has

allowed the company to introduce a number of

extra features and benefits designed with

engineers in mind.

Installation

+ Excavate the required specified

location, to the depth of appropriate

number of chambers required,

(maximum 3 chambers), plus

additional 40mm for depth of base.

+ Install chamber centrally within the

specified trench/location.

+ Base of excavated area to be well

compacted granular material or

concrete slab is preferred. Drainage

runs within the slab are required to

allow excess water to drain freely

from the constructed chamber.

+ Before duct connection takes place,

the trepanned holes located on each

chamber will require cutting out to

specified diameter. Naylor Access

Chambers take from 63mm to

160mm OD duct pipes.

+ Allow minimum of 150mm

surrounding the chamber for solid

concrete support, which should be of

a semi-dry workable mixture.

+ Ensure concrete fill is evenly

distributed around the chamber and

level with the top surface. Concrete

the frame in at the appropriate height.

Access Chamber Specification

1. The chamber shall be of solid construction of single, double or triple height pre-formed sections (triple shown) and prevent distortion during back-fill process.

2. The chamber will meet the Highway Regulations of minimum duct cover in both footways and road verges.

3. The chamber shall have pre-trepanned cut outs areas to accept 63mm OD - 160mm OD duct except 900 x 450 which accepts 63mm -120mm.

4. The chamber is manufactured in rotational moulding high density polyethylene material.

5. The chamber shall have a C15/ST3 concrete base and surround, 150mm surround and 150mm base bedded on a 100 mm Type 1 sub base or concrete slab with a 50mm drain hole (base to be constructed first and have a smooth floated finish).

6. For traffic signal/street lighting applications the covers are non ferrous composite material and fit closely within a galvanised steel frame. The cover and frame will meet the loading requirements of BS EN 124 Class 125. The cover is black in colour and marked Naylor Drainage and the legend ‘‘Traffic Signals’’ or ‘‘Street Lighting’’ and have integral lifting keyholes. The cover has an integral anti-skid pattern on the upper surface. The frame must also be supported on the concrete surround of the chamber on a bed of mortar.
