The scope of this method statement is as result of a comprehensive site survey by JDBIndustrial Roofing Ltd at Caprari Pumps, Bakewell Road, Peterborough, PE2 6XU to ensure a safe System of work is sufficiently developed to make sure that all risks associated within the scope of works are adequately managed in accordance with legislation (Regulation 3 MHWR & WAH)

2 . 2 SEQ U E N C E OF O PE R A T IO N S.

1. Erect safety netting

Safety netting will be erected to the warehouse underneath the rooflights and secured to the internal roof structure by trained and competent third party FASET trained operatives who will be in receipt of training records, competency certificates and their own RAMS. Work will be carried out to BS1263. Access to the underside of the roof will be via Mobile Elevated Work Platform. All operators will be IPAF trained and competencies given to Site Manager.

2. Erect edge protection

Scaffold edge protection will be erected to the perimeter of the roof as detailed on the plan by third party scaffolder’s who will be in receipt of training records, competency certificates and their own RAMS. Scaffolders will gain access to the roof via tower with materials to construct a triple handrail edge protection system to the perimeter of the roof. Handrails and intermediate rails will be set at a height as deemed appropriate by TG20:2013. 1 no.access tower is to be erected on each building. Running lines are to be installed to the office roof.

3. Machinery / Materials Delivery

All materials to be delivered to site and put in the areas agreed with JDB and Caprari Pumps A 17M telehandler will be delivered to site to facilitate material handling to the roof

4. Demarcation of areas

Operatives are to access the roof via the access tower and demarcate the working area with cones & ticker tape on both roofs. This is to ensure operatives do not go beyond the working area.

5. Edge Lap Treatment

Access to the roof for operatives shall be via the access tower. Operatives to jet washthe roof, the corrosion is to be removed from the roof sheet laps with a sanding hand tool, cleaned with giromax approved cleaner, sheet laps are to be treated with an application of mastic sealant prior to base coat followed by topcoat to the end-laps.

5. Replace Ridge, Hip Flashings & Fillers The existing ridge and hip flashings to be removed and replaced with new flashings andweathered. Existing fillers to be removed and replaced with new profiled foam fillers

6. Plygene Gutters

Plygene liner shall be fitted into gutters together with appropriate flashing as per Manufacturers guidelines, ends shall be tucked between eaves of sheeting and existing fillers to ensure water- tightness within buildings. Weldable outlets shall be heat-welded to plygene liner within existing downpipes and stopends shall be formed to suit existing dimensions at existing stopends 7. Area beneath the works is to be cordoned off during works. Staff shall be made aware of progress throughout the works on a regular basis.

8. Remove nets and strike scaffold handrail & tower

The removal of equipment will be in the reverse order of the installation

10 MONITORING AND CO MPLIA NCE .

10.1 RISK AS SESSME N T , CON T R OL ME A S U RES A N D E X I S T I NG H AZ A R DS.

A work at height risk assessment will be conducted to Regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at WorkRegulations 1999.

1. Identify hazards (see 2.2)2. Decide who might be harmed and how3. Evaluate the risks4. Record findings (including controls, see below)5. Review when onsite and where changes occur a hierarchy of controls will be put into place as per the Work at Height Regulations 2005. Where possible, work at height will be avoided. If avoidance to work at height is not possible, then access equipment is to be selected using the most suitable and safest form of access equipment.Note collective protection measures have been/will be given priority over personal protection measures. Although it may be that a combination of the two will be used.As work at height cannot be avoided, suitable scaffolding will be erected by qualified and competent scaffold erectors6. To get to the roof, access equipment will be used7. This will be in the form of an scissor lift to facilitate netting8. A scaffold handrail shall be erected to the gable of the roof where necessary.9. All access equipment shall only be erected by qualified personnel10. All access equipment shall be suitable for purpose11. All access equipment shall be inspected before use12. Personal Protective Equipment

The correct PPE will be selected in accordance with the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992. All roofers shall wear applicable PPE including:

Gloves to protect skin from abrasions and skin irritation Hi-vis vests so that individuals can be seen by moving vehicles Safety footwear to protect the feet from falling objects. Hard hats (site policy)
