Mid-Autumn Festival Gathering
Time:2017.10.05
Place: Arad Confucius Classroom
Participants: All level 1 and level 2 Chinese students and 4 Chinese Teachers.
Aim:
1. To introduce Mid-Autumn Festival to students so as to know Chinese culture
well.
2. Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival and have a gathering with students. Build a
bond between students and teachers.
3. to combine Chinese language with Chinese culture so students could find
more fun in activity when they study language.
4. to taste traditional food “Moon Cake “and have a general understanding
towards Chinese Food.
Procedures:
1. Inform students time and place about activity.
2. Invite students to participant in with their friends if their friends want to come.
3. Decorate the classroom with Lanterns, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese paintings,
Chinese knots and other Chinese cultural elements.
4. Make a presentation of Mid-Autumn Festival and then solve the questions that
students have.
5. Chinese teacher writes a poem《明月几时有》which is a remarkable work in
front of students
6. “Mid-Autumn Festival foodies time”. Share mooncake with students and
help students review something about Mooncake Legend we mentioned in
the presentation.
7. Take a group picture and leave students a small assignment “write a text
about Mid-Autumn Festival. And share with your family and your friends.
The Winter Solstice Celebration
Time:2017.12.15
Place: Chinese teachers’ public kitchen
Participants: All university major students and other Chinese learners
Aim:
1. To introduce the winter solstice and traditional Chinese food “Baozi” to
students so as to know this traditional festival better.
2. Celebrate the winter solstice and have a gathering with students. Let students
feel like in China to welcome winter season with Chinese, to help students and
teachers build friendship with each other.
3. Students could get familiar with the procedures to make “Baozi” and the
taste of “Baozi”. They will feel more from activity directly than just in class.
4. The interesting cooking methods will take happiness to their language
learning and motivate students to learn Chinese better, to know China better.
Procedures:
1. Inform students time and place about activity.
2. Invite students to participant in with their friends if their friends want to come.
3. Prepare some tea and guide students to have a relax.
4. Hand out papers we made before about the procedures to make “Baizi”
5. In cooking time, Chinese teachers show the procedures of making “Baozi”
step by step, cook together and taste together.
6. Chinese teachers and students could sing a song together to relax.
7. Teachers and students have a casual talk to share the feelings of this activity
and take a picture together with a banner “冬至快乐“。
8. Give a small gift to each participant for memory.
Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition
Time:2017.6.11
Place: Arad Confucius classroom
Participants: All Chinese major students and other Chinese learners
Aim:
1. To introduce calligraphy to students so as to know Chinese culture well.
2. Through the Chinese calligraphy exhibition and writing Chinese calligraphy,
students could understand the charm of Chinese characters.
3. to stimulate students to know more Chinese characters and have a basic
understanding of the importance of Chinese characters.
4. to combine Chinese language with Chinese culture so students could find
more fun in activity when they study language.
Procedures:
1. Inform students time and place about activity.
2. Decorate the classroom with Chinese teacher’s calligraphy works.
3. Collect outstanding student calligraphy works as exhibits.
4. Make a speech about Chinese calligraphy, including the history and some
funny stories and so on to help students understand the artistry of Chinese
language and Chinese characters.
5. “Read Chinese characters Game”. Put on some Chinese characters on the
blackboard and pick up some students to recognize. The winner will get an
award.
6. Teach students to polish ink on the spot.
7. Hand out a water writing paper to students, so they could practice personally
to see the artistry of Chinese characters and calligraphy.
8. Write Chinese names for students if students want
9. Guide the students to enjoy all Calligraphy works in the classroom and solve
students ‘questions.
