I would like to thank everyone who attended our April luncheon last month Rudy Degger with Degger and Associaties was scheduled to do

a presentation ldquoAuto vs Pedestrianrdquo but cancelled prior to the luncheon With a little less than 18 hours to find a speaker Sherry Wenograd with Frontier Adjusters and a MVCA Board member jumped in and saved the day

Sherry wanted to have a luncheon about the members and for the members She asked all attendees to share a claims story they had experienced which was funny strange or sweet The members filled our luncheon with entertaining claims sto-ries of each kind The MVCA provided prizes for each member with the best story in each category as well as provided extra prizes to make the raffle even more exciting than usual The luncheon was a great sucess thanks to our wonderful members

For the month of May (Friday May 16th) we have scheduled

The April 18 2004 Mid Valley Claims Association Luncheon Meeting was a delightful audience Participation event The Speaker had a family emergency and cancelled the day before the Luncheon President Deena asked for Past President Sherry Wenograd for assistance

Sherry was the Master of Ceremonies and asked attendees for Claims related personal experience stories either Funny Weird or Sweetest story

The prize for Funniest story went to Greg Kinchen of Glatfelter Claims Management His story was regarding a burglar that assaulted the resident and EMT was called When police arrived he dove thru a window naked and stole the Ambulance He crashed the vehicle and police found him in another house Ambulance driver filed an uninsured motorist claim

The prize for weirdest story went to Bethany Woodward of Belfor Property Restoration She had a claim where a Mortician fell in love with the corpse and set the building on fire

The prize for Sweetest story went to John Vigallon of Revival Garment Restoration John told a story about a customer of his Cleanerrsquos He has an 87 year old woman that sent $80 worth of cleaning with him every week He has been calling on her for months He finally said I know you dont need all these clothes cleaned She said I want to help You and then she said are you Marriedrdquo He and his wife Julie took her out to lunch

There were many interesting stories and you really needed to be there to appreciate the humor

Ulises Castellon CPCU has worked as a claimrsquos profes-sional for over twenty-five years In addition to being a property and casualty adjuster and manager he established the Special Investigations Unit for State Farm Insurance Companies in Northern California in 1986 Mr Castellon has managed numerous first and third party cases through litigation In 1996 he associated with Fire Cause Analysis a premier forensic investigation and engineering firm He currently heads ClaimsAnalysis as an insurance consultant and expert witness continued page 7

Sherry was the Master of Ceremonies and asked attendees for Claims related personal experience stories either Funny Weird or Sweetest story

The prize for Funniest story went to Greg Kinchen of Glatfelter Claims Management His story was regarding a burglar that assaulted the resident and EMT was called When police arrived he dove thru a window naked and stole the Ambulance He crashed the vehicle and police found him in another house Ambulance driver filed an uninsured motorist claim

The prize for weirdest story went to Bethany Woodward of Belfor Property Restoration She had a claim where a Mortician fell in love with the corpse and set the building on fire

The prize for Sweetest story went to John Vigallon of Revival Garment Restoration John told a story about a customer of his Cleanerrsquos He has an 87 year old woman that sent $80 worth of cleaning with him every week He has been calling on her for months He finally said I know you dont need all these clothes cleaned She said I want to help You and then she said are you Marriedrdquo He and his wife Julie took her out to lunch

There were many interesting stories and you really needed to be there to appreciate the humor

The April 18 2004 Mid Valley Claims Association Luncheon Meeting was a delightful audience Participation event The Speaker had a family emergency and cancelled the day before the Luncheon President Deena asked for Past President Sherry Wenograd for assistance

Sherry was the Master of Ceremonies and asked attendees for Claims related personal experience stories either Funny Weird or Sweetest story

The prize for Funniest story went to Greg Kinchen of Glatfelter Claims Management His story was regarding a burglar that assaulted the resident and EMT was called When police arrived he dove thru a window naked and stole the Ambulance He crashed the vehicle and police found him in another house Ambulance driver filed an uninsured motorist claim

The prize for weirdest story went to Bethany Woodward of Belfor Property Restoration She had a claim where a Mortician fell in love with the corpse and set the building on fire

The prize for Sweetest story went to John Vigallon of Revival Garment Restoration John told a story about a customer of his Cleanerrsquos He has an 87 year old woman that sent $80 worth of cleaning with him every week He has been calling on her for months He finally said I know you dont need all these clothes cleaned She said I want to help You and then she said are you Marriedrdquo He and his wife Julie took her out to lunch

There were many interesting stories and you really needed to be there to appreciate the humor
