DO: Weed Hygiene bay (low tech earthen)

Presentation Title 7

DO: Low Tech earthen Weed Hygiene Bay - Conditions for Use

• For the purposes of weed hygiene ONLY. This would require that only

buckets, blades, tyres, cabs, trays rakes.

• CLEANING OF ENGINE BAYS OR HYDROCARBON AFFECTED

AREAS ON MACHINERY IS STRICTLY NOT PERMITTED. (No

soap/detergent based product can be used).

• The wash down facilities must feature containment structures, with

suitable capacity, to ensure that no discharge flows out onto the

surrounding area (whether vegetated or not).

• Wash down bays must be of an appropriate dimension to ensure they

completely house the largest piece of mobile equipment to be washed.

• Sumps must be managed to ensure that they do not overflow during

high rainfall events and release possible weed/ seed stock and potential

hydrocarbon contamination into the surrounding environment.

• At the decommission of the weed hygiene bay silt, which may contain

vegetative matter, needs to be disposed of appropriately (e.g. buried to a

depth of greater than 1 metre below the surface).
