Pastor's Corner ~ Rev. Eric Lane

Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is

opposite Jericho, and the Lord showed him the whole land: Gilead as far as Dan, all Naphtali,

the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, the Negeb,

and the Plain—that is, the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees—as far as Zoar. The Lord said

to him, ‘This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, “I will give

it to your descendants”; I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.’

Deuteronomy 34: 1-4

My call into ministry was that to bring revival within the body of Christ. As the body of Christ,

we as Christians have become slack in sharing the gospel message. I saw this in the

manufacturing industry over the years in management. Sadly, the manufacturing world lived off

the “fat” rather than continue to look for new, better and new ways, rather than utilize and train

people, the manufacturing community increased their profits by downsizing, outsourcing and

shutting plants down.

Sadly, this impacted the life of many people who lost jobs. Over the years I have seen the ebb

and flow of the church reflect what I saw in manufacturing. Rather than stepping out in faith,

trusting God, churches, lived off “old money” not looking for new ways, and I am not talking

about worship styles. As a result, generations began to move away from the church because they

saw the church, similar to that of a country club, without the amenities of a country club. So,

generations begin to look into other areas to be fed.

This did not happen overnight but over years. All churches and all Christians bear the

responsibility. However, I believe in the church, I believe that the church (the body of Christ)

has something to offer the world that the world cannot. Jesus said “My peace I give to you, not

as the world gives”. Times in my life when I needed to feel the presence of God it came most

often through the touch of a Christian.

You know, when Moses first led the people to the edge of the Jordan, if they had obeyed God,

he would have led them through the waters. But they were not ready, so he led them back into

the wilderness, and in doing so he was preparing them for the future, the future that God had

planned for them. God allowed Moses to look into the promise land just before he passed the

leadership onto Joshua.

Let me say, when I arrived, we were a divided church, praise God today we are a united church.

As I have stated many times, Mineral Springs sits at the crossroads, literally and physically.

Growth is all around Mineral Springs. Welcome the growth, welcome those who walk through

the doors, they are our neighbors, looking for the same thing that you are looking for.

The change that has come about over the last four years is a result of working together, praying

together, trusting God, and stepping out in faith. When I arrived people would ask me where I

served and they would say; “Oh my I will pray for you!” Today I stand proud to say that I

served Mineral Springs United Methodist. God has plans for you, plans for you to prosper and

not to do you harm. (Jeremiah 29:11).

Mineral Springs has loved Beth and me, and I appreciate your love and care. We have worked

together and Mineral Springs has put together a great staff for the future. Financially Mineral

Springs is strong and you carry no debt.

Pastor’s Corner - Continued from page 1

I am truly excited about the appointment of Alan Mears.

Alan brings his family to Mineral Springs and he is very

excited about the opportunity to be in ministry with Mineral

Springs.

I know that you will welcome him and his family and you

will love on him and his family just as you have loved Beth

and me. As Moses looked into the Promised Land, I expect a

smile came upon his face as he anticipated what lay ahead for

God’s people. As we prepare to leave, I look forward to

God’s plans for Mineral Springs UMC, it brings a smile to

my face. Over the years, you have become a part of our

family and that makes it difficult to leave.

We will be moving closer to our grandchildren and children,

which is a blessing, but it is still difficult to leave. That

speaks volumes about each of you. Thank you for welcoming

me into your home and into your lives. Thank you for

allowing me to be in ministry with you.

Like Paul, my time has come to move to another place and I

ask for your prayers, as I will continue to pray for you. Paul

would tell Timothy, preach the word and I look forward to

seeing you again. Mineral Springs share the gospel message

of Christ and I look forward to seeing you again. I have

but had a glimpse of what the future holds for Mineral

Springs, and Alan Mears. The other week I said this should

be our motto and that is what I will close with.

Be your Best, give your Best, and give God the rest.

God bless you and keep you,

Rev. Eric Lane, and Beth

"I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who

Strengthens Me" Close friends of ours, Baxter, and his wife Susan were

teaching their grandson, Baxter VI, this verse, Philippians

4:13 KJV

They came up with this tool by having each finger on both

hands be a word. Now all his kids say 10 fingers. His

church has picked up the saying and it has spread like

wildfire. So, show 10 fingers or say 10 fingers.

Gayla and I are doing this to honor Susan who recently

passed.

Hello! It looks like we might be able to resume

church in June! I'm looking forward to it, I've missed

everyone. Thanks again to Eric, Ian, Christa,

Daniel, Brittany and Ryan for keeping things going

during the shutdown.

As things slowly return to "normal", we will be

needing some help at the Bridge. If you are interested

in helping with the tech team or if you play guitar and

would like to be part of the praise band, please

contact me at 704-458-7458.

I hope to see you all in church again soon.

Thanks!

Mother’s Day/Father’s Day Bulletin

Sponsored by Ugly Quilter's We are sorry to share that the Ugly Quilter’s

Mother Day/Father’s Day Bulletin has been cancelled

this year due to the Coronavirus.

The Ugly Quilter’s appreciate all your past support

and hope you will continue to support them next year

when they resume this fundraiser that supports the

Ugly Quilter’s projects. Thank you for your

understanding.

Hey there youth, youth families and church family!

Over the past 10 weeks everything has been shut down

in our youth ministry department, we have attempted to

have several virtual activities and devotionals, but we

know that this is not the same as being together in

person. We as leaders have looked at this time as a

"Reboot", a time for us to evaluate everything that we

are doing here but also look at things that we would like

to modify to be a more effective part of your spiritual

growth. Know that the leaders will be meeting this

month to discuss what's next here at MSYOUTH and to

plan some exciting activities, lessons, service projects

and get togethers just as soon as we get the green light.

We are excited to LAUNCH back into ministry just as

soon as they say so, and we can't wait to get back

together with each of you and your friends too. Know

that during the month of June we are doing a lot of

"behind the scenes" work in anticipation of "phase 3"

when we will hopefully be allowed to gather once again.

We will continue to reach out to you via social media

platforms, such as snapchat and Facebook. But I will

also be looking for opportunities to reach out to each of

you via text this month to touch base and catch up with

you.

One of our short devotionals in May asked you a

question... What are we doing that you love? and What

would you like to see us do differently? If you haven't

been able to respond please feel free to text, call or

message me with your answers and ideas. But also,

parents, please feel free to do the same. In this "Reboot"

we are taking a closer look at EVERYTHING that we do

here at Mineral Springs UMC and want to make sure

that when we LAUNCH again we are better, stronger

and adequately prepared for the Revival that we are

praying will come to the church.

This month we are going to try to connect with you via

social media platforms:

Wednesday nights - Worship and bible study via

Facebook youth page

Snapchat - Daniel will be posting daily devotionals on

the mineral springs youth group Snapchat.

Facebook - we will also be posting devotionals on the

youth Facebook page for those that are not on Snapchat.

Also... maybe even a drop by visit from the Parker

family.

If you need ANYTHING, please know that I am here for

you. Feel free to text, call, snap or message me.

Serving Him, with Excitement

Daniel Parker

Happy June,

I don't know about tomorrow, I just live from day to

day. That is what one of the most beautiful songs

talks about not knowing how or why things happen

and how we don't understand them but we know

that Jesus holds tomorrow and he holds our hands.

I don't know what choir is going to look like when

we return but you can bet we will all be putting on

our garments of praise! Because we know who

holds our hand and guides our way!

We miss worshiping with you all and together as a

group and look forward to the times when we are

together again! If you ever thought about singing in

the choir or need to return, we would sincerely love

for you to come meet with us and praise the Lord.

Just look for information in the near future about

how, what, where and when. If we don't praise him

the very rocks will cry out! So take a step with us

and Jesus and Have a Joyous June!

Greetings: Great News We will resume worship on May 31. There are some

guidelines that we will need to follow.

1. Congregants are asked to wear a mask.

2. Please restrain from handshakes and hugs

3. We will not have a passing of the peace

4. There will be no choir or congregational singing

5. Ushers will pass out the bulletins, please keep your

bulletin, take it home or throw it away.

6. Please maintain the social distance at all times

7. We will have to sanitize the worship area so please

move out of the building following worship.

8. Offering will not be passed through the

congregation. There will be plates available to place

your offering in.

9. We will not offer Sunday school at this time for

children, no Spring Kids; adults can meet in groups

if they can maintain social distance.

10. There will be no congregational singing, hymnals or

pew bibles. We will have music provided by solos.

Thank you for your understanding. These guidelines are

to protect your safety as well as your neighbor.

Praise God we will get to see each other in worship.

Blessings

Rev. Eric Lane
