“It’s disclosure at a civilian level. Some people are really crass about it— ‘Oh, you have no proof.’ We do have data here. We have thousands and thou-sands of people reporting them and telling us what they are. Are they ex-traterrestrial craft? Couldn’t tell you. Interdimensional? Couldn’t tell you. But with high numbers of these things, anything is possible.”

DAVID MACDONALDDIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

Fall is upon us and as the season changes MUFON continues to move into a new and advanced stage. We are growing! The membership is up, as is just about every aspect of MUFON.

And along with that growth comes new challenges. By the end of this month, the

MUFON headquarters will have completed its relocation to Cincinnati and the Irvine HQ office will be shut down. However, we do hope to maintain a West Coast field office.

Another aspect of this growth is the need for specialty volunteers. IT help is at the top of the list, so if any of you have IT skills and would like to volunteer, we would love to hear from you. We need some help fine- tuning our existing platforms and wrapping up some of our other programs.

The MUFON Store is back online, open, and a lot of new items are being added every day, especially many of the new fashion prod-ucts that were introduced at the symposium Almost all of the new hats, visors, shirts and tote bags completely sold out. They are being

restocked now and are available at the MUFON Store. Be sure to visit as these items are dynamite!

A downside of our growth is the rise of ille-gal operators using our trademarks, logos and even case files for personal profit. Addition-ally, there had been a considerable increase in the sale of “knock-off ” merchandise. Most of that is from offshore and has been stopped. Currently we have taken aggressive actions to stop rogue operators from illegally using our registered trademarks for their own pro-motion. These actions are effective and will continue until we rid the internet of these impostures.

Aside from these few “bumps in the road,” MUFON is rocking on! And, as always, I say THANK YOU to each and every member.

You are the greatest! l

Mysterious flying object videoed from aircraft

A couple in Kissimmee, Florida, reported seeing an object flying in the sky outside an airliner in which they were traveling, according to testimony in Case 117656.

The witnesses were aloft at 9:15 p.m. EDT on August 30, 2021, when the incident began. The reporting witness entered this into CMS: “My boyfriend and I were on a

flight back to Florida from Texas and he was recording with his phone from the window seat. Lo and behold, we see what we saw on this video attachment.” A frame from the 94-second video appears above.

Florida MUFON Field Investigator Theodore Bloch closed this case as Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

In his synopsis of the incident, Bloch stated: “Their flight originated in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; it departed at 5:55 p.m. and arrived in Orlando, Florida, at 9:41 p.m.

“The couple was returning home to Florida from a visit to Texas when the witness’s boyfriend was recording the airplane ride for his younger kids who had never been on a plane before. She said to me, ‘I also wanted to let you know that we had a decent flight, but right after we saw the UFO, we had some strong turbulence to the point where Angel grabbed my hand and began to pray and I just put my head down. It only lasted for a few seconds but it was scary.’ She always likes to sit next to the window in case something unusual is to be seen.

“I had approximately a 45-minute phone interview with this couple. They are credible and I completely believed everything they said and their video is the icing on the cake, which makes their case one for the history books so to speak.

“No way to explain what this couple saw during their flight other than that it’s something not of this earth, or if so, it’s something most of us do not know about.

“They were very believable with their compelling video and its analysis; plus the fact that they are credible. The short-time strong turbulence…means something, but exactly what is also unknown.

“It is a fact, plain and simple, there is no way on Earth he could have mixed this object up with anything terrestrial…except possibly a craft that a government has built and it’s secret, so both situations lead me back to Unknown UAV.”

Kissimmee is the largest city and county seat of Osceola County, Florida. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 59,682.

UFO videoed in Montana in 2016

A man in Crane, Montana, reported seeing a UFO fly di-rectly at him and over his house, according to testimony in Case 116880. He videoed over a minute of the encounter; a still from the video appears above.

The incident unfolded when the witness was outside his house with his family at 5:30 p.m. on December 3, 2016.

His detailed description in CMS Form 1 states: “I la-sered what was supposed to be Venus star and something came from the side of it looking like a cloud, and within a minute it was over my house. Observed starlike object turn into a cloud, then into a UFO, and it flew directly at me and over my house, with a stalling motion overhead, then dropped to the ground. I got a video of this.”

Montana MUFON Assistant State Director Margie Kay closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

In her report, Kay stated: “It is my opinion, based on the evidence shown and the witness account, that an uniden-tified object reacted to the laser light and approached the witness and his family. Also based on my interview with the witness, I believe that he and his family are being visited by extraterrestrials and have been for a long period of time. It appears that the entire family is involved except his wife.”

Crane is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Richland County, Montana, United States. Its population was 102 according to the 2010 census.

Sight of flying disk overwhelms Michigan witnesses

A Cedarville, Michigan, father and son observed a black discoidal UFO with a diameter ranging from 100 to 300 feet, according to testimony in Case 117269.

The reporting witness had stopped with his wife and son at a gas station in Cedarville at 10 p.m. on September 13, 2019. He writes in his CMS description that “my family and I went on a weekend long trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to a town called Cedarville. We got to town around 10 to 11 p.m. and pulled into a closed gas station so my son could relieve himself behind the truck. I went out with him and just as he finished and was getting back into the truck, he points behind me and tells me to look. I then turned and saw a huge black disc-like ship flying probably under 100 feet above the treetops. This thing was huge, round and very dark, with minimal lights on the bottom of it. We never heard a sound, but we watched it glide through the sky for around a minute, minute and a half. Even though it was dark, we had a great view of it. Very overwhelming at how big and silent this thing was.” His wife remained in the truck during the sighting and did not observe the object.

Michigan MUFON Field Investigator Marc Kleczynski closed this case as Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

In his report, Kleczynski stated: “This event happened

almost two years ago and is considered historical in nature. The fact that the object was seen by two people makes this sighting more credible. Since the witness was willing to notify MUFON two years after the encounter indicates to me that he feels this is important to report, and most likely not a hoax. There are no other reports in MUFON or NUFORC [of this object]; however, this is a remote area in the Upper Peninsula and since it happened at dusk, I can see that there might not be other witnesses. I believe this is not a hoax, but the object does not fit a helicopter or drone.”

Cedarville Township is a civil township of Menominee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 276 at the 2000 census.

CASE 117415

Bluish object photographed and videoed in the night sky

Two people in the Czech Republic city of Zlin observed an object that was in the sky for many hours and filmed it, according to testimony in Case 117415.

It being a fine Summer night, the principal witness and her boyfriend went outdoors to look at the stars at 3:25 a.m. on July 9, 2021.

The lengthy event description in CMS by the reporting witness reads as follows: “The ninth of July this year my boyfriend and I wanted to watch the stars at night, the weather was really nice and it would be a shame not to use

it. We spread blankets and pillows on the terrace and lay down under the bright sky. I’m quite patient and careful about something that really interests me, so I watched the stars really closely, I almost didn’t take my eyes off them. After a while, I noticed an interesting star, uhm, at least I thought it was a star for the first time. It was glowing and flickering, which didn’t seem unusual to me, but then it began to move. Right and left, at first slowly and fluently, it just flew on the sky. I had, still have and will be having a weird feeling about it, and since I believe in UFOs, it was the first thing that came into my mind. For about 10 minutes I tried to convince myself that I should go to sleep, that my vision was blurred, and it occurred to me that the object was moving because of sleepy eyes. My boyfriend didn’t notice the movement at first. We took the binoculars and at that moment we both saw the movement clearly. My observation took a long time, as I said, I can be patient and in this case my patience lasted about 10 hours until dawn and for some time after. I wanted to see more. Even before dawn, in the process, my boyfriend “gave up,” he knew that it wasn’t a normal star, but he wasn’t as fascinated by it as I was, so I watched the object by myself. It occurred to me that I could make a video of it to have proof of something supernatural, or proof that I was sleepy and delusional. So, I took the binoculars, pressed it to my phone, turned on the camera, and zoomed to the maximum. This is how my photos and videos were taken. Nothing in the sky that evening was unusual, except for that object. I was almost obsessed with the observation. In the course of it, the speed of movement, including the direction of the object, was changing, accelerated, then slowed down again and so on until dawn. To tell you the truth, I have been, I am, and I will be really shocked by it, I have always believed in UFOs, but seeing with my own eyes something that could really prove their existence and have a record of it is an indescrib-able feeling. As I mentioned at the beginning, the weather was very nice at night, but shortly after dawn, when the object literally disappeared from the sky, a very strong wind began to blow, the sky began to darken and it was blowing for about an hour, then the sun shone and the summer weather was again nice. Whatever my boyfriend and I saw, it wasn’t from this galaxy, I guess. I’m so glad I filmed it, my feelings were really strong and that’s why it’s an unfor-gettable experience for me.” Six still photographs and three videos were taken.

Czech Republic MUFON CAG International Frederick Kohler closed this case as Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

In his report, Kohler stated: “I am forced to close this out as Unknown UAV for the pictures and my screenshots are worth 1,000 words.”

Zlin is a city in southeastern Moravia in the Czech Repub-lic. It has about 75,000 inhabitants. It is the seat of the Zlin Region, and it lies on the Drevnice river. l

Before the 20th century it was as-sumed that the circles were made

by evil forces or creatures because of religious faith. An English woodcut pamphlet from 1678 (namely the “Mowing-Devil”) is claimed to be the first depiction of a crop circle. The leaflet tells about a farmer in Hert-fordshire who refused to pay to his laborer to mow the field, and swore he would rather the Devil mow it instead. According to the story, the next morn-ing the field was found to be fully mowed, “that no mortal man was able to do.” From this short description, we can see that strange factors arise in the context with the crop circles: first one is that people in the past associated this phenomenon with otherworldly entities, and the second one is that mysterious forces have been activated that could not be explained scientifi-cally or by human technology. In the history of UFO research, there have been many studies that show “devils” as one of the extraterrestrial spe-cies, especially the “greys” from Zeta Reticuli with their large, black eyes, grayscale skin and tiny stature.

In modern ages the concept of crop circles began with the original hoaxes by Doug Bower and Dave Chorley in 1976. The two pranksters claimed in 1991 that they started the phe-nomenon with the use of simple tools consisting of a wood plank, a rope and a baseball cap fitted with a loop of wire to help them walk in straight

lines. The two funny English men said that they were inspired by the Tully “saucer nest” case, where an Austra-lian farmer claimed to have seen a UFO, and after that he found a flattened circle of swamp reeds. Of course, sceptics immediately accepted this answer to the crop circle mys-tery, but let’s just think about this. I am convinced that these counterfeiters cannot be there at every age, time and place where circles have already been discovered. I think it is not a particularly hilarious thing to work all night on creating intricate diagrams in fields and on top of that having to work in secret so that no one can see and expose the fraud. Not to mention the penalty for causing damage to the farmer’s crop. Let there be no misunderstanding, I am not claiming that this phenomenon does not exist, but I believe there are real circles that are not made by humans, especially shapes depicting intricate patterns.

Right at the beginning of the phenomenon, the technical term “crop circles” quickly emerged, which has become common even though, due to the often-impressive geom-

etry, one has had to speak of formations, pictograms or glyphs for more than a decade. More than 5,000 types have been documented in Europe alone. The stalks are often laid down in a strange spiral shape and, depending on the degree of ripeness of the hardly broken stalks, seemingly bent by an invisible energy. This special radiation or energy can still be felt on the scene for a while, at least according to eyewitnesses and UFO researchers.

UFO researchers have registered the appearance

of more than 50 crop circles in the last 40 years.

Many large and complex crop circles all over the world show a high level of mathematical knowledge—based on

Page 12: MISSING AND DISTORTED TIME

special numbers and certain geometries—and high physi-cal and technical “know-how.” Many enormous, impressive, compound and grandiose signs appear suddenly in numer-ous grain fields worldwide, circles from around 50 meters to over 300 meters in diameter, especially in the main area of Southern England. They are constructed amazingly pre-cisely, in an inexplicable way, within a very short time.

In recent decades many crop circles have appeared in Hun-gary, as well, with stories being featured in the local press and attracting the attention of Hungarian UFO research-ers. In July 2006, a sportsman discovered a mysterious crop

circle between Taljándörögd and Öcs (on the highland of Lake Balaton) in a rye field; he also took aerial photos of the formation. The 200-meter-long and 100-meter-wide figure was discovered while he was paragliding. “The grain field had not yet been harvested, so the figure was drawn out regularly,” the local citizen said in an interview. In the same year—a few days earlier, on 10th of July—a simi-lar crop circle with dimensions of 18 and 35 meters was photographed from an agricultural aircraft, which forma-tion was later revealed to have been created not by nature or extraterrestrials but by human hands. So, we can say that here, in the Middle of Eastern Europe, there are also self-professed pranksters who want to ridicule this topic and denigrate the UFO researchers and their work.

According to the Hungarian explorer Zoltán Jankó, who has been dealing with this unexplained phenomenon since 1994, UFO researchers have registered the appearance of

more than 50 crop circles in the last 40 years. At the same time, Jankó believes in natural explanations, so he claims that for the formation of real crop circles several natural factors must work together to form the so-called natural anomalies: they can occur on sloping areas, near high-volt-age lines, or be in homogenous grain fields.

In the mid-1990s, unusual UFO sightings drew attention to the mysterious phenomena near Pécs, in South Hunga-ry. In addition to the strange observations in this decade, appearances of crop circles also have upset moods in Bara-nya County. The contemporary Dunántúli Napló (name of a local media) reported on a strange case in 1996. A local family from the city of Harkány went on a flight with a trained pilot from Pécs to take an aerial view of the Tenkes Hill area on 7th of July. They agreed that the pilot would show them something interesting in the field that he had discovered that morning between Garé and the neighbor-ing Túrony village. From the air, the family documented three crop circles and a triangular formation, which were lined at the edge of a forest. Unfortunately, the case did not receive much publicity because the locals suspected pranking, so neither the authorities nor professional UFO researchers were notified.

Despite all these bad circumstances, Hungarian UFO researchers continue their investigations on this topic more seriously than ever before. According to our statement, we want to create a counterpoint to the superficial and one-sided reporting of this phenomenon in conventional mass media, such as newspapers and television, as well

LETTER TO THE EDITOR It was especially refreshing to read two of the articles from the September issue of the Journal.  I speak specifically of the articles written by Rod Ragsdale (Missing Accounts of Missing Time) and A. T. Roberts (Professional Bonafides: The Potential Shortcomings of Military, Government, and Aviation Testimonies). Both of these authors employed something that is increasingly rare in our society: CRITICAL THINKING!

The psychologist referenced in Ragsdale’s article engaged in a process which should be employed in any experiencer case:  that is, to first Rule Out any prosaic or medical/psychiatric explanation (before one starts assuming paranormal or “alien abduction” components). In my experience, this is an exception to the rule instead of the contrary, which would be consistent with sound medical practice.  My only reservation of the article is the seeming belief that “re-gressive hypnosis” would settle the matter at hand. Of this, I’m not so confident!

The Roberts article similarly asks the reader to critically evaluate claims made by individuals who purport to possess insights into UFO-related cases, when in fact, these may be spurious claims. Roberts’s “personal favorite” of such individuals is also among my own, the late Robert Dean.  If only such sentiments were voiced before Dean passed in 2018. I would suggest, how-ever, that there may well be more than meets the eye as regards Richard Doty, mentioned in the context of the Bennewitz case.

In summary, these articles remind me of MUFON’s stated mission of “the scientific study of UFOs...”  Parenthetically, I would add that it would be helpful if the Journal included some de-tail about the authors presented—in this case, Ragsdale and Roberts. It would certainly help the reader to have a better idea of where the author is “coming from” and what credentials are possessed!

Thank you, S. Peter Resta, Ph.D.

as to perceptions of it and other “border scientific” or esoteric topics that are shaped by ignorance and/or skepticism. Here in Hungary, the UFO community can absolutely support the initiative to shift the paradigm in science. It is time to take the UFO issue seriously and examine the evidence in a scientific manner to prove absolutely that we are not alone in the multiverse! l

NOTES FROM MUFON’S EXPERIENCER RESOURCE TEAMThe ERT Files

I currently wear two hats. One as a MUFON Field Inves-tigator, where the aim is to take a solidly real-world look

at the details of a case and see if there isn’t an ordinary explanation for what the witness has seen. The other is as a member of the ERT, where the aim is more heart-oriented, to be a kind ear, nonjudgmental, and as helpful as possible. Two quite different roles. Although both benefit by keep-ing the frequently said “It’s good to have an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out” attitude, the ERT role requires a head that’s much more open to metaphysi-cal phenomena. I’m not sure just anyone is ready to accept all the things an experiencer might relay. Many intrigued with UFOs are more comfortable in the “nuts and bolts” orientation—that is, the far more frequently-encountered conventional sighting reports. An experiencer will of-ten share odd and weird things that the real world types would quickly dismiss as impossible. In this short essay, I’ll

cover just one type of weirdness that isn’t easy for many to accept.

I’m always astounded by the accounts I’ve been told of missing time and time distortions, especially on major roads or highways. There are many such published ac-counts, but the following are ones I’ve personally heard from a mix of sources. Several of these accounts are from people who’ve had multiple alien encounters.

A witness told me of driving with her husband down a well-travelled road just outside of a small town when a craft with windows appeared no more than 100 feet in front of them. The next thing they knew, they found themselves parked about a half mile away, with the sky now darker, and with no idea of how they’d gotten there. Another couple said they were driving way up north, saw

a craft pacing them close by, and the next thing they knew they were an hour and a half away, in a totally different direction than they intended. Neither had any recollection of having driven there.

I stopped in an out-of-town bar for a beer one evening, and the waitress asked what brought me there. I briefly ex-plained I had travelled here to investigate a UFO sighting case, as I was volunteering as a MUFON Field Investiga-tor in my retirement. As sometimes happens, she had her own tale to tell. Speaking quietly when she had a moment, she told me a story of driving home with a girlfriend after work, on a route that normally took 45 minutes. They saw a strange bright light following them, and the next thing they knew they were in their driveway, in only 25 minutes. They had no idea how they had arrived that fast, and sus-pected something more had occurred when they encoun-tered the bright light.

Another person I happened to meet, when she learned I was a MUFON Investigator, told me of her numerous alien interactions, some of which involved her initial-ly skeptical professional husband, some involving her grandkids. The most bizarre was a time she was driving a regular six-hour route to return her grandkids from a visit. As she drove along the major three-lane expressway, going through a large city, she encountered what seemed to be a wall of fog ahead and went to hit her brakes. The next thing she knew she was stopped on the expressway, with cars all around her pointing in different directions. The other cars started up, rearranged themselves back into their lanes, and then continued along the highway. When she arrived at her destination, the kids’ parents were very relieved to see her and asked why she was so late. She in-sisted she was on time, saying she’d only had a slight delay from encountering a patch of fog. The parents then told her she was four hours later than expected.

A woman told me of watching TV in a motel room with her partner at about midnight. She was in the middle of a sentence, and then in a flash, found herself finishing the sentence in daylight, six hours later, with a different pro-gram now on the TV. Both of them looked at each other astonished, like “what just happened?” then hurried to pack and get the heck out of there. A man in his 70s relayed a long-ago event where his aunt was driving him and his siblings home from a county fair. The drive should have taken less than 30 minutes, but they encountered what seemed like a patch of fog across the road and then found themselves arriving home two hours later. Strangely, none of them ever spoke about the extra time it took, as is often typical.

Finally, a truck-driving couple told me of an incident where they were just 20 minutes away from their destina-tion outside of St. Louis, barreling down a very familiar

major highway with their loaded truck. As she glanced down at the time, they noticed an odd light nearby and then both seemed to blank out. When they both simulta-neously came to, the clock showed more than an hour had passed, yet they were still in the same location, still about 20 minutes away from their destination.

These are just some of the time distortion accounts I have personally heard from credible and quite sane witnesses. All wondered if something more had occurred to them and were very glad to finally be able to share their weird experi-ences with an open-minded and somewhat knowledgeable person. I was happy to try and be helpful but could offer no explanation how these events could have occurred, only that I’d heard of such things before. How indeed do the aliens remove a truck from the highway, seemingly stopping time for an hour in just a portion of the area? Or speed up time, as in the case of the waitress? How can they stop a person mid-sentence for six hours, like something from a Twilight Zone episode? Most bizarrely, how could all the traffic be stopped on a major highway for four hours without making the news? I know it didn’t, because I was very intrigued by the woman’s story and later carefully re-searched local papers and asked at the local police depart-ment. No such story appeared in the papers, nor did the police have any such reports. How the heck do the aliens do that?

Someone with feet planted firmly in accepted reality would have a hard time accepting such bizarre time distortions. Are these accounts any sort of solid or even semi-solid proof ? They’re certainly not a chunk of saucer you could hold in your hand. But these types of odd aspects are in-triguing to me, and I find more of such semi-solid proof in experiencer accounts than I do in conventional sighting re-ports. If the amount of any sort of evidence was a measure of the validity of an account, I’d suggest the more frequent occurrences of even semi-solid evidence make experiencer accounts more valid than more conventional sightings.

There are many other missing time accounts in the litera-ture. These, plus the more paranormal and other weird as-pects frequently reported by experiencers, cause myself and others to conclude the aliens are quite comfortable maneu-vering in multidimensional and metaphysical worlds. Such manipulations of space and time appear to be part of their everyday technology. Accounts that would be difficult for someone with a nuts and bolts orientation to accept. For aliens, it seems communicating with humans through their dreams is easy. Passing through solid walls? Child’s play. Removing a person and their vehicle from a busy highway and dropping them back in the same spot an hour later? Already done! Might they also be able to travel light years in an instant to Earth? Given the indications that space and time present no barriers to them, it may be no prob-lem. Just another normal day in their world. l

Abstract Recently, the focus when it comes to UAP/UFOs has shifted away from the public and onto the government, the military and the intelligence community. Whether it’s sightings involving US Navy pilots, or classified brief-ings in Congress, mainstream media outlets are featuring numerous stories about this, reframing the phenomenon as a defense and national security issue. Former UK Ministry of Defense official Nick Pope gives an insider’s perspective of how government officials view and handle the phenome-non, both in terms of policy and investigations.

Nick Pope’s keynote address will reflect the very latest developments in the unfolding story of the report

from the Director of National Intelligence to the Senate Intelligence Committee. Because this situation is evolving so rapidly, the material presented here is meant as a sum-mary of key issues rather than a verbatim transcript of Nick Pope’s keynote address, as what is presented on the day will include late breaking news on the report, on the media and public reaction to it, and on likely future developments.

Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) While there continues to be controversy about the true nature of AATIP, it’s worth writing into the record the Pentagon’s latest statement about the program, passed to me on May 22 by DOD public affairs spokesperson Susan Gough. Here’s her statement in entirety:

The purpose of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Iden-tification Program (AATIP) was to investigate foreign advanced aerospace weapon system applications, with future technology projections over the next 40 years, and to create a center of expertise for advanced aero-space technologies. The goal was to help understand the threat posed by unconventional or leap-ahead aero-

space vehicles and technologies that could have nation-al security implications for the United States.

The program commenced in Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 with $10 million appropriated in the Defense Supplemental Appropriation Act. DIA awarded a contract to a sole bid-der, Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies, LLC. The contract was known as the Advanced Aerospace Weapons System Applications Program (AAWSAP).

The contract goal was to study 12 technical areas: lift, propulsion, control, armament, signatures reduction, ma-terials, configuration, power generation, temporal trans-lation, human effects, human interface, and technology integration. The contractor identified and worked with academics and scientists to produce technical reports. In developing the reports and exploring how to create a “center of expertise,” the contract allowed for research drawn from a wide variety of sources, including reports of UAPs. However, the examination of UAP observations was not the purpose of AATIP.

The first 26 reports were completed by late 2009. The Defense Appropriations Act for FY2010 included an additional $12 million for the program, and 12 additional reports were produced. A total of 38 technical reports were delivered. The list is below. All of the reports are either classified or marked For Official Use Only. Only a few have been released to the public.

After a review in late 2009, it was determined that the reports were of limited value to DIA. The department terminated AATIP when funding for the program ended in 2012….

UFOViewMUFON MEMBER PERSPECTIVE

A Missing Case of Missing Time Found

As explained in part one, many ufological investigators have thought it likely there are, and have been, a great

many unknown individuals residing on our planet who have been abducted by extraterrestrials. Knowledge of those ab-ductions would be prevented primarily due to a mysterious loss of memory owing to a period of missing time. Abduct-ees would not know they had been abducted. In such cases, that knowledge might never be made known in a lifetime. However, chance discussion with someone interested in ufology, as occurred with Kim (see part two) might bring the incident of missing time to light. Or perhaps an experi-encer of missing time might take an interest in ufology and grow increasingly curious about their own encounter. That is the circumstance permitting the reporting of the follow-ing case. To our mutual benefit, a case of missing time lost to public knowledge for 75 years has been found.

Ed Gill, physicist, has been a member of MUFON since 1991. Ed’s initial interest in ufology began around 1980 when he discovered by chance the video UFOs Are Real and the scientific approach to investigations practiced by prominent ufologist Stanton Friedman (1934 – 2019). Thinking that perhaps there was reliable substance to the notion of extraterrestrial visitation to our planet, Ed discov-ered the publications of Budd Hopkins and the phenom-enon of missing time. That, in turn, brought to mind the strange episode of memory loss that had occurred when he was a child. Though he had occasionally wondered about the mystery of that event, the possibility that extraterres-trials were involved had never been considered. Noting the similarities in abductee reports to his own experience, an unimaginable possibility was gradually understood as a con-ceivable reality.

Ed’s story begins in a vacant field. The year is 1945, and Ed is three years, three or four months old. The field is next to his parents’ house located at 86 Friendship Street in Bo-livar, New York. Ed has a vivid memory of sitting in the field, picking the white dandelions surrounding him and

blowing the white seed-bearing parachutes into the air, as is common with children. He remembers the many seeds as though in a vision of whiteness filling the atmosphere. As explained in part one, now we encounter the event that is so often puzzling to people experiencing missing time. One moment Ed is sitting in a field. In a split second, with not even the slightest interruption, Ed is aware he is sitting on a street sidewalk. Now in a field. Now in a street. Instanta-neously.

Quicker than the blink of an eye, he is on Olean Street, one block away and parallel to Friendship Street. If he had walked to this new location, he has no memory of doing so. Finding himself on Olean Street, he looked around and, as he explained, “I immediately realized where I was because I used to walk over to my friend’s house on Olean often to play.” He had no thoughts about where he had been before the “jump in time” nor why he was on Olean Street. He said, “I simply started walking down the sidewalk as if that’s what I was supposed to do.” Ed retains a very distinct memory of looking down the sidewalk and then calmly walking towards Main Street and the Fire Station, which was on his side of the street. He has no memory of being frightened, confused or puzzled. His mind “was in the immediate present.” But the reason he would go in that di-rection seems to him to be a mystery. His home was in the opposite direction and would have only been a two-minute walk by cutting across the neighbors’ backyards (no fences in those days). He had done that many times. He was not lost. Still, he had no thoughts of going home.

As Ed approached the town’s fire station, a man came down the driveway. He was not dressed in a uniform or special clothes as far as Ed can recall. The fire station garage was set back about 75 feet from the street and fire engines could be seen through the open doors. The man took Ed’s hand and they walked up the wide driveway to the fire trucks. He lifted Ed up into the driver’s seat of a red fire engine and then got into the seat himself. He told Ed that they were sitting in a magic fire truck and then attempted to start the engine. However, the motor turned over but would

Page 18: MISSING AND DISTORTED TIME

18 | OCTOBER 2021

not start. The man then tapped several times on the dash-board or steering wheel (Ed didn’t remember which) and then the motor came to life immediately when the starter was engaged. Ed does not recall any other activity, such as touching knobs or holding the steering wheel, while sitting in the fire truck. His only brief fear occurred when the echoic noise of the engine filled the fire house garage. Ed explained that his “mind was like that of a small child listening to a story about a magic fire engine.” He was not particularly excited. He was just curious.

The next vivid memory in Ed’s mind is of being lifted out of the fire engine seat by the fireman and placed on the pavement of the driveway. He saw a group of adults in-cluding his mother and father. His mother lifted him up in her arms and asked, “Where have you been?” Ed does not recall having an answer nor of anything else. He explained that his mind was in the immediate present. The memory of walking down Olean Street toward the fire station, being led to the “magic fire engine,” had all faded away for the moment. He imagined that if he had answered his mother’s question he would have said, “I didn’t know I was lost.”

Ed stressed that certain segments in his recollection of events were still “crystal clear” as though they had just hap-pened yesterday. He thought that was very strange since he had only been three years old when the incident happened.

He could even remember quite distinctly many of the details of the fire engine. The color of the seats, for example, were a light brown tan. In fact, he has been astonished at the clarity of his memory and then the sharp cutoffs at both the beginning and the end of the period sitting in the field to the moment when his mother asked him where he had been. He does not recall anything after hearing her ques-tion, the activity of walking or of being carried to his home just three minutes away or the discussion that must have ensued with the family as a group.

As far as Ed can recall, no mention was ever made by family members of his period of missing time, of his mys-terious disappearance or the commonly accepted notion of his “being lost.” That seems rather peculiar because, many years after the event had occurred, Ed had asked his mother about the length of the time of absence. She told him it was about three hours. Most people, I imagine, would consider three hours a long time for a three-year-old to be missing. Ed assumes his parents must have alerted the neighbors and police because Ed’s mother told him that lots of people had been looking for him. That included the local firemen. And most of the neighbors knew who Ed was because his father was the local Methodist minister.

What could Ed have possibly been doing during the period of missing time? As Ed put it, “It seems inconceivable that no one in this small town saw me wandering around for three hours.” Neither family members nor friends ever asked Ed what had happened during his absence. Perhaps Ed’s parents subconsciously wished to avoid delving into menacing possibilities better left alone. They may have learned that life contains unfathomable mysteries that might be activated with unfavorable consequences. Let sleeping dogs lie. Then again, perhaps not only Ed, but everyone, was under the mind control of beings from outer space.

In retrospect, with the unsettling advent of UFOs in our skies and reports by abductees providing knowledge of the procedures endured by humans during abduction, we can imagine the possibility, as many investigators have suggest-ed, that millions of Earthlings, over the course of many generations, have been kidnapped, medically examined, tested for human character attributes and quality, harvested for sperm and eggs, implanted with tracking devices, and programmed for future needs. If massive numbers of Homo sapiens are involved and all memory is lost in the majority of cases due to missing time and invisibility, we would be none the wiser. Although regressive hypnosis might not occur in most of these cases, perhaps discovery of missing time experiences will provide an indication of the possible magnitude of a disconcerting covert operation. l

In 1952, the Encyclopædia Britan-nica introduced the Great Books of

the Western World series. In volume 1, The Great Conversation, author Robert Maynard Hutchins described cross-generational dialog reaching across centuries and constantly replen-ished by the great books. Of course, there is one stubborn time limit.

We can sustain a rolling, active two- or three-way conversation involving up to several generations at a time. Longer-term communication inevita-bly moves only one way—forward. No feedback from the future. But, one line of thinking implies that a far longer, back-and-forth conversation is also

possible. And in progress. Between us and our distant descendants.

This seems plausible if we accept that reputed aliens, specifically “grays,” are actually humans coming here from right out of our own evolutionary future. This is the thesis put forth by Dr. Michael P. Masters, a biological anthropologist, in Identified Flying Objects: A Multidisciplinary Scientific Approach to the UFO Phenomenon. For argument’s sake, let’s say the seem-ingly ubiquitous grays are, indeed, future humans come here to engage us. (We’ll leave all the other reported types of UFO occupants out of this and assume they’re ET.) How’s the conversation going?

First the setting. We associate conver-sations about great books and ideas with literary clubs and libraries. Our most coercive scenario involves disin-terested undergrads enrolled in man-datory lit courses. This scenario flips when experiencers report encounters with grays aboard UFOs. They don’t report getting any say about the encounters, including missing time and unpleasant, sometimes traumatic treatment aboard ship. Sometimes conversations are reported, however. Let’s gauge their substantive value as time-traveling versions of the great conversation.

Some experiencers report that grays try to calm them during forced exam-inations and medical procedures. But some reports get closer to the idea of

an actual dialog (sometimes perhaps even friendly). Kathleen Marden pres-ents interesting evidence for this in chapter 5 of Extraterrestrial Contact: What to Do When You’ve Been Abducted. These reports come from the MU-FON Experiencer Survey and aren’t linked to any theories about time trav-el. Let’s assume, just for the moment, that these exhortations to pursue our spiritual growth, and urgent warnings of global warming, environmental de-struction and possible human extinc-tion, are indeed messages relayed to us by our descendants.

Perhaps a cross-millennia conversa-tion is underway. But if so, reports suggest that the discussions are sometimes marred by abductions and abusive physical mistreatment. And the reported themes of discussion are already familiar. We talk about them all the time—without any need for help from time travelers.

Intellectually speaking, it’s a Not-So Great Conversation. No invitations to voluntary discussion, no helpful hints on how humanity will overcome obstacles to get from here to there. It seems they could learn something from us about ethical conduct and good conversation. If the grays are us, we might get more from conver-sations with actual ET envoys than from encounters with time-traveling, future-edition Homo sapiens. l

SPOTLIGHT ON…NORTH CAROLINA MUFON

David Glidewell joined MUFON in 2014 and is the State Director of the North Carolina MUFON chapter The NC chapter is blessed with a cadre of outstanding, dedicated, reliable, well-trained FIs, all of whom have unique backgrounds and skill sets and demon-strate the highest levels of character and integrity.

David does not like to write about him-self but will give it a shot because he was requested to. Once upon a time, David was born abroad in the village of La Chapelle Saint Mesmin, France His father retired from the Army, secured employment at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and moved the family to Fairborn, Ohio It was there that David learned of “UFOs” and “aliens” being at WPAFB...and that it was true.

David enlisted in the Army, was BT sol-dier of the cycle, trained in line-of-sight aircraft recognition, and became a proud Chaparral weapon system crew member Similar to what is seen in the following 15-second video hyperlink, David fired a missile from the strange sci-fi-looking Chaparral at a drone, shot it down in a live fire exercise, and claims it was a blast Chaparral Surface-to-Air Missile - YouTube

David, despite the distractions of youth and some “oops moments” of varying degree, somehow managed to earn a BS in education, an MS in administra-tion, and All-American honors in cross country while attending university. David was an operations research systems analyst and worked resource management, acquisition, and data-base issues for various organizations at the Pentagon, such as Army Pro-gram Analysis and Evaluation (PA&E). His most rewarding position was being the deputy for Programs and Acquisi-tion Directorate for the Army Surgeon General at Army Medical Command before retiring in 2013.

David believes and practices helping other beings of Mother Earth in need. He is a supporter of the Wake Coun-ty Animal Shelter, ASPCA, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Sierra Club, Michael J. Fox Foundation, and other worthy organizations and charities. He asks that you, too, continue or consid-er supporting organizations of your choice that need assistance.

John Pizzo is the NC MUFON chap-ter Chief Investigator and has been interested in the UFO phenomenon since his first sighting, at age 8, of a silver cigar-shaped craft in the sky over his home. He grew up in an urban part of New Jersey, and as an outgrowth of his first sighting, he became interested in astronomy.

In high school, he was honored with a National Science Foundation grant to study astrophysics at the Hayden Planetarium in New York City. John pursued and received a dual-major BS degree (physics/math) at St. Peter’s University. After college, he went on to become a certified quality engineer, and much later became a Six Sigma Black Belt working in manufacturing environments of several types. Not long after, John married and started a family. He retired in 2010, after a long and successful career in the discipline of quality management, where he led the quality improvement efforts of sev-eral mid-sized corporations.

Throughout his life, his interest in UFOs never waned and in the mid-1990s, John passed the exam to be-come a MUFON field investigator, and, later, a State Section Director in New Jersey. After moving to North Carolina and taking a hiatus of a decade from MUFON activities, John resumed his association with MUFON which con-tinues to this day. He is quite excited that official “disclosure” may soon be forthcoming from the U.S. government.

Sandy Davis……screenwriter Sandy is a certified Field Investigator and Star Team member. Sandy was introduced to MUFON while living in Las Vegas researching a sci-fi script An invite to the local MUFON chapter turned this former teacher, coach, principal…into someone who felt that this group was onto “something.”  After several years of reading MUFON’s literature, going to a few of its meetings, he decided he wanted to be the “pointy end of the stick,” a field investigator, to hear these “alleged” witnesses firsthand. Fast for-ward to the present. After closing over 300 cases—hard sightings, black proj-ect planes, missing time, close encoun-ters, aliens on the ground, abductions, eva-borgs (micro-chipped humans), secret space programs—and earning a Level 3 Star Team status, what can he conclude about UFOs in 2021?

• Official government position. Three lies over the legal limit.

• Black aircraft, secret space programs… there’s no telling where the money went.

• Roswell. The story was dead… but it got better.

• Whistleblowers. If you can’t be famous, be infamous.

• Denied access…it’s a small club, and you and I, we aren’t in the small club.

• Cover up. The “truth” can be adjusted.

Linda Larsen joined MUFON and became a Field Investigator in June 2015. Linda is a member of the Star and CMS coordination teams.

Linda grew up in Michigan on a small farm. She trained show horses begin-ning at age 13. She graduated from high school, and attended community

college in Muskegon, MI. Linda has been a longstanding member and leader in 4-H. Her daughter became a 4-H member when she also started showing her ponies.

Linda and her husband, Roger, are both from Michigan and have been married for 50 wonderful years. Linda and Roger met while learning the art of judo. They continued in judo for about 20 more years and are both brown belts Linda and Roger have a daugh-ter in Pennsylvania who is a certified and licensed therapist and married to a recently retired Navy lieutenant commander Linda and Roger have one grandson.

Linda and Roger moved to Cary, NC, in 1990, where Linda worked several years as a contract secretary at IBM As a family, Linda and Roger joined the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and were members for about 20 years. During her time in CAP, Linda worked as an administrative officer, ground team leader, and aircraft observer and scan-ner while achieving the rank of captain. Her duties included responding to disasters per the governor’s orders and participating in aircraft search and rescues missions for missing persons Linda’s duties also included monitoring crash sights until the FAA’s arrival, pro-viding support to Drug Enforcement Agency aircraft missions, and attending cadet activities. In 1998, she started her own award ribbons business. She sold her business to a company in SC about five years ago and is happily retired. Roger is retired from the state of North Carolina.

Robert “Bob” Barrett joined MUFON in 2016, is a Certified Field Investigator and member of the Star Team. Bob has had two UFO sightings. Once when he was a young teenager living in Somer-ville, Massachusetts; the other was in Oxford, NC, which caused him to join MUFON and become an investigator.

Bob has 28 years of experience in law enforcement. He was an active- duty US Army military police officer for eight years before joining the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Butner, NC, as a correctional officer. He became a prison investigator part way through his career, has worked and assisted

closely with several federal agencies, and other law enforcement agencies across the country in helping to close their cases on inmates who were at his institution. While working in the Army and at the prison, he also gained a lot of experience at evidence collection and crime scene photography. He was also on the hostage negotiations team for a couple of years, and even got to train with FBI hostage negotiators at Quantico, VA. Bob retired from the federal prison as a federal investigator in 2015.

In his spare time, while researching his genealogy, Bob discovered a con-nection to Betty Barrett Hill (Betty and Barney Hill), and that he is a distant cousin of Kathleen Marden. He is look-ing forward to some advance training and actual hands-on evidence collect-ing Bob feels it helps to understand and feel out a witness when obtaining the information to see if the person is being honest or deceptive. This helps for a better field investigator’s report. His pet peeve is report writing. It is so important to document and report it properly. It is an important part of the case and representative of the Field Investigator and MUFON.

Bob Blohme has been a member of MUFON since 2019 and became an FI that same year. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 21 years, having billets in both Infantry and recon. He retired as a first sergeant in 1991 Bob was stationed in and traveled to over 25 countries around the world and most of the United States.

After retirement, he served as a police officer, firefighter, and EMT. He also worked as a martial arts instructor, park ranger, and zookeeper. Bob has an associate degree from Campbell University. He has never seen a UFO but enjoys researching books and the internet to help in investigations assigned to him.

Chad “Pigpen” Wilson has been a Field Investigator with MUFON North Carolina and a member of MUFON since 2019. Chad was born and raised in Wilmington NC. His educational background is in emergency medical management and pharmaceuticals, but

his true passion has always been in art. Chad is currently working as a tattoo artist in Wilmington, NC, at Artful Inc., and his work can be viewed on Insta-gram @tattoos_by_pigpen.

Chad has had two UFO sightings in his life: one in his teens and one when he was 32, which help fuel his passion into the UFO phenomenon. Chad’s oth-er investigational interests are in the fields of the paranormal and cryptids. His goal with MUFON is to help anyone who has seen something they cannot explain and to help gather information that may help us better understand the UFO phenomenon.

Jon Skinta, a certified Field Investiga-tor since October 2020, joined MUFON in 2010. He holds a master’s degree in counseling from Ball State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in supply and logistics plan-ning Following that, he was active in management positions for the Hartford Insurance Group and the legal and medical fields. With the state of North Carolina, Jon put his counseling back-ground to use as a veterans’ employ-ment representative, retiring from that in 2011 As a teenager, Jon had been a voracious reader of science fiction, but to date has never seen a UFO He con-tinues, however, to look to the skies.

Mike Grant is a recent addition to NC MUFON and is a Field Investigator in training as of 2021 Mike was born in East St. Louis, Ill and has resided in multiple midwestern states while growing up He now calls North Carolina home after living in the Tar Heel State for over 50 years.

Mike began his law enforcement ca-reer in 1978 with the Statesville Police Department ending with his retirement in 2003 During his career, Mike spent 13 years as an Investigator and Su-pervisor in the Criminal Investigations Division He retired as part of the Com-mand Staff while directing the Person-al, Training and Purchasing Division as well as being the Hostage Negoti-ations Supervisor A few high notes of his career include being a Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Instructor, Latent Print and Commercial Vehicle

Safety Alliance (CVSA) examiner and assisting Pfeiffer University in the de-velopment of a mid-level management training program for law enforcement.

After retirement, Mike worked in several fields to include being Chief of Campus Security for Catawba College, Firearms Rep, Private Investigator and Director of Training for a security firm in Charlotte Mike permanently retired in 2018 and has kept busy by starting a baseball league and by doing a “play by play” webcast for Catawba College Baseball Mike has been married to Lor-raine DeCunzo Grant for 40 years and together they raised seven children and two grandchildren.

Mike’s interest in UFOs began in the 4th grade after reading a book on the subject, but he has never personally observed any UFO activity  However, he is interested in learning the truth and helping others understand what they may have experienced.

Richard Keener has been a MUFON member and Field Investigator since 2020. Richard grew up in Western North Carolina in the Asheville area. He has earned a bachelor’s in Biblical apologetics and a master’s degree in theology Richard is tri-vocational as he travels as an itinerant religious speak-er, teaches at a local Bible institute, and works in finance. In the financial

field, he has earned many awards from his company but is also a member of MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table). The Million Dollar Round Table is an international, independent association of less than one percent of the world’s most successful life insurance and fi-nancial service professionals from 476 companies in 76 nations and territories.

Richard has personally witnessed what may have been a UFO sighting, but that story is too long to recite here. As a field investigator, he is committed to helping MUFON carry out investiga-tions and to give a unique perspective to the study of the phenomenon.

Sev Tok is an author, speaker, spiritual counselor, lifelong experiencer, and MUFON Field Investigator for North Carolina. Sev moved to the Inner Banks of North Carolina three years ago from Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C., and on her second night in her new home made contact with greys, who put two red X-marks on her back. This ET experience changed her life and prompted her to write You Have the Right To Talk To Aliens, endorsed by Kathleen Marden, whom Sev credits for accepting her lifelong ET contact, which she denied for decades. Having trans-formed the perception of her ET con-tact from fear to gratitude, Sev works with experiencers around the world,

supporting them to realize the positive impacts of their remarkable events.

Sev was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and came to America as a little girl. She earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Loyola University and uses scientific principles in her talks, videos, and writings to support the quantum nature of ET contact. She is currently in talks to participate in a documentary about experiencers, and she enjoys writing, speaking at confer-ences (she “came out” at AlienCon Bal-timore 2018), and doing radio shows around the world including, recently, Coast To Coast with George Noory. [email protected]

Vern Francis has been a Field Investigator with MUFON since 2020. Vern grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Loyola High School and Stevenson College. He majored in law enforcement and psychology. He retired as a law enforcement officer in 2005. Vern has three sons and a daughter, who reside in Maryland. He also has two grandsons and a grand-daughter.

Vern has always had an interest in UFOs, making MUFON a perfect tool in following this topic. He wishes to continue to share his years of investi-gation, in the search of UFO truths and beliefs, with the MUFON community. l
