Overview This document provides a reference to Mitel Authorized Solutions providers for configuring Avaya Aura Session Manager to host the Mitel MiVoice Video. The different components can be configured in various configurations depending on your VoIP solution. This document covers a basic setup with required option setup.

Interop History

Version Date Reason

1 September 13, 2013 Initial Interop of the Mitel UC3650 Video Unit release v2.0.1.5 with Avaya Aura Session Manager release 6.2

Interop Status The Interop Avaya Aura Session Manager has been given a certification status. This device will be included in the SIP CoE Reference Guide. The status Avaya Aura Session Manager has achieved is:

The most common certification which means that Avaya Aura Session Manager has been tested and/or validated by the Mitel SIP CoE team. Product support will provide all necessary support related to the interop, but issues unique or specific to the 3rd party will be referred to the 3rd party as appropriate.

Software & Hardware Setup This was the test setup to generate a SIP Audio and Video Calls (both point to point and multipoint) while the Mitel MiVoice Video Unit was registered to the Avaya Aura Session Manager. Mitel MiVoice Business is not a required part of the configuration.

Device Limitations This is a list of problems or not supported features when the Mitel MiVoice Video Unit registered to Avaya Aura Session Manager.

Feature Problem Description

Video Resolution CIF

Issues were experienced when forcing the MiVoice Video Unit down to CIF level resolution in which video connections where not consistently established. It is recommended to leverage resolutions higher than CIF.

Avaya SIP Feature Server Capabilities

Solution was deployed without the use of the Avaya Feature Server. The MiVoice Video Unit does not support the Avaya AST SIP stack, as such Avaya application sequencing is not tested or supported on this device.

Device Recommendations The Mitel MiVoice Video Unit is recommended to be deployed as a SIP Extension without configuration of Application Sequencing as the MiVoice Video Unit does not support this proprietary Avaya functionality.

Additionally, TLS registration between the Mitel MiVoice Video Unit and Avaya Aura Session Manager was not tested and is therefore not supported.

Configuration Notes This section is a description of how the SIP Interop was configured. These notes should give a guideline how a device can be configured in a customer environment and how the Mitel MiVoice Video Unit was configured in our test environment.

The Configuration Notes provide the steps required to add a MiVoice Video Unit to an existing Avaya Aura Session Manager Environment [ASM]. This assumes that the customer has a fully functional environment prior to the steps provided below. Please consult Avaya Documentation for steps required to deploy Avaya Session Manager.

Proper dial plan configuration and deployment is required in all deployments. The configuration scenario depicted below does not leverage the Avaya Feature Server (Avaya Communication Manager [ACM]), as such, ACM should be configured to send the block of extensions to be utilized for the MiVoice Video Units up to ASM for processing in order to allow legacy H.323 endpoints registered to ACM to communicate to the MiVoice Video Units.

Disclaimer: Although Mitel has attempted to setup the interop testing facility as closely as possible to a customer premise environment, implementation setup could be different onsite. YOU MUST EXERCISE YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE IN REVIEWING, planning, implementing, and testing a customer configuration.

Avaya Aura Configuration Notes The following steps show how to program configure Avaya Aura Session Manager to accept registration from a Mitel MiVoice Video Unit.

Identity 1. Go to ‘User Management Manage User’ 2. Click on ‘New’ 3. Under the Identity Tab Configure the Information as necessary for the endpoint being

created

NOTE

Login Name and Password are utilized by Avaya for SIP Personal Information Manager (SPIM) and not used by the endpoint for endpoint registration. This enables the user being created to log in and manage personal information and select features as enabled by their administrator.

NOTE Login Name is required to be configured in email or SIP URI notation. Typical deployments consist of ‘[email protected]

NOTE ASM requires complex passwords by default for this field

Communication Profile

4. Configure the Communication Profile Password (As shown below in Figure 3)

5. Scroll down to ‘Communication Address’ and click ‘New’ 6. Select Type: ‘Avaya SIP’ (although ‘Other SIP’ could also be selected, Avaya SIP auto-

completes the SIP Domain options and reduces opportunities for error)

NOTE Communication Profile Password is the “Login Password” configured on the MiVoice Video Unit

7. In the ‘Fully Qualified Address’ Box enter the extension number that you wish to use. 8. Select the SIP domain in the drop down box

• This value will correspond with the ‘Server Address’ value on the MiVoice Video Unit. To provide resiliency and simplicity in the network, utilizing an FQDN value that resolves via DNS to all instances of Avaya Session Manager. This value must match the value selected in the drop down box.

9. Click ‘Add’ to add the communication address 10. Scroll down to ‘Session Manager Profile’ and select the checkbox to expand the option.

Figure 5 – Session Manager Profile

11. A ‘Primary Session Manager’ must be selected. This is the element that the MiVoice Video will register to first.

• If a Secondary Session Manager is selected then that node will accept registration requests from the MiVoice Video Unit. This is how resiliency can be

NOTE It is recommended to use a numeric extension or id. Although Avaya allows for an alpha-numeric ID and will route on that value, most endpoints do not have the ability for alpha-numeric dialing.

provisioned for the MiVoice Video Unit, as only one server may be specified on the Unit.

12. Leave the following fields set to ‘(None)’: • Origination Application Sequence • Termination Application Sequence • Survivability Server

13. Set the ‘Home Location’ to the appropriate Location for Call Admission Control admittance.

14. Click ‘Commit’ to save all changes. You will be returned to the User Management page and should see the newly created user
