Mobile Coating and Restoration Services for Ground Turbomachinery At your site. Anytime. Anywhere in the World. The Praxair Surface Technologies Mobile Field Service Centers are the fastest and most cost-effective method to apply protective coatings to large industrial gas turbine components, including compressor rotors, bladed disks, stators, and cases. By coating portions of the entire assembled rotor on site, we can reduce your outage costs by eliminating transportation and shipping time delays and minimizing risk by keeping components on site—all while improving the efficiency of your turbine. Supported by a full metallurgical laboratory and qualified inspection personnel, Praxair’s Mobile Field Service Centers are equipped to apply SermeTel ® coatings on rotors for the following industrial gas turbines: • ABB/Alstom Type 8, 9, 11, 13 • GE Frame 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 • Siemens Westinghouse/MHI W251, W501, W701 • Siemens V94, V84, V64 series The ultra-smooth, aerodynamic finish of SermeTel coatings reduces fouling and corrosion, decreases fuel usage, and enhances compressor efficiency—even in heavily pitted units. With more than 24 million operating hours logged on industrial gas turbines, only genuine SermeTel aluminum- ceramic coatings have a long standing industry-accepted, proven track record. Praxair has coated more than 100 gas turbine rotors, hundreds of bladed wheels and stators, as well as numerous disks, turbines, and compressor cases throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. Steam Turbines and Gas Compressors Praxair also coats large steam turbine components to reduce erosion or prevent corrosion and fouling. Our Mobile Field Service Centers designed for steam turbine applications are capable of applying thermal sprayed wire, air plasma, and high velocity oxy fuel (HVOF) coatings for erosion control and SermeTel and SermaLon ® slurry coatings for corrosion and fouling resistance. SermaLon coatings have demonstrated a significant improvement in fouling in ethylene compressors, providing 50% more run time.

Supported by a full metallurgical laboratory and qualified inspection personnel, Praxair’s Mobile Field Service Centers are equipped to apply SermeTel® coatings on rotors for the following industrial gas turbines:

• ABB/Alstom Type 8, 9, 11, 13

• GE Frame 3, 5, 6, 7, 9

• Siemens Westinghouse/MHI W251, W501, W701

• Siemens V94, V84, V64 series

The ultra-smooth, aerodynamic finish of SermeTel coatings reduces fouling and corrosion, decreases fuel usage, and enhances compressor efficiency—even in heavily pitted units. With more than 24 million operating hours

logged on industrial gas turbines, only genuine SermeTel aluminum-ceramic coatings have a long standing industry-accepted, proven track record.

Benefit

Maximizes fuel savings or power output, controls corrosion, reduces fouling

Controls corrosion and fouling in harsh environments

Minimizes fouling and corrosion in acidic wet chloride environments

Reduces severe erosion, minimizes wear, rebuilds worn surfaces, and tightens clearances

Turbine Disk Restoration Services Praxair also offers turbine disk restoration services that successfully address “bucket rock,” a condition typically found in gas turbines used for standby or peaking service. We restore disks on GE and Siemens Westinghouse/MHI gas trubines in a variety of equipment configurations, including:

• On individual disks or stacked rotors at one of our worldwide service centers or in our Mobile Field Service Centers

• On site on a stacked rotor that is removed from the unit

• On site – In Situ without removing the rotor from its shell (GE Frame and Siemens Westinghouse W-type turbines)

Turbine disk restoration with the rotor in place requires that only the upper half of the turbine shell, wrapper, and compressor discharge casing be removed. This approach saves significant time and cost relative to potential disassembly of the disks as well as an estimated two to four weeks in downtime when compared to disassembling the unit.
