Mobile IP Extension

Use an Apple iPhone or Android mobile device as a DSX Mobile IP Extension

• Requires software version 3.33 or higher.

DescriptionEmployees on the go can stay in touch with co-workers and associates by using their Apple iPhone or Androidmobile device as a DSX Mobile IP Extension. The DSX Mobile IP Extension feature requires a softphone (suchas Counterpath's Bria Phone) set up as a DSX IP extension in an iPhone or Android smartphone. When the useris in the office, the Mobile IP Extension connects to the office WiFi network. When the user leaves the office andtravels beyond the range of the company WiFi network, the Mobile IP Extension automatically reregisters overthe cellular network. When the user returns to the office, the Mobile IP Extension registers back to the companyWiFi network. The basic operation of the Mobile IP Extension never changes.

Mobility Applications for the DSXMobile IP Extension

Mobility applications augment the basic convenience of the DSX Mobile IP Extension by allowing the mobileextension and a DSX office keyset to cover each other's calls and voice mail messages. By implementing some ofthese applications, it makes little difference where the user is located. They'll always get important calls and voicemail messages.

Incoming Call HandlingRing Assignments

By using the built-in flexibility of the DSX Ring Assignments, outside calls that ring the DSX office keysetcan also simultaneously ring the Mobile IP Extension. Just make sure the two extensions share the same RingAssignments for important lines. Additionally, each extension receives the Caller ID for the incoming call (ifenabled).

Department Groups

Department Groups provide another way for the Mobile IP Extension and DSX office keyset to cover eachother's calls. If the two extensions are in the same Department Group, all calls sent to the group ring both theDSX office keyset and the Remote IP Extension at the same time. This occurs for transferred calls, DirectInward Lines and Direct Inward Dialing calls to the Department Groups, calls from the IntraMail AutomatedAttendant, and even Intercom calls.

Find Me Follow Me 1

Find Me Follow Me can route an unanswered call to alternate destinations. For example, if the DSX officekeyset user isn't in the office, Find Me Follow Me can send the call to their Mobile IP Extension. Alternately,if the Mobile IP Extension user doesn't pick up, Find Me Follow Me can send the call to the DSX officekeyset. The advantage of Find Me Follow Me is that the caller can choose to leave a message instead if theirbusiness isn't urgent.

Call Forwarding

Call Forwarding has a lot of flexibility and can route calls to an alternate destination in a variety of ways. Itcan route just outside calls, all calls, calls that aren't answered, or all calls immediately. For example, to routeall calls to their Mobile IP Extension when they leave the office, the user can just enable Forward All CallsImmediate from the DSX office keyset. The user can use the native browser in their Mobile IP Extension toremotely change the Call Forwarding settings through the Phone Manager.

Voice Mail MobilityThe Mobile IP Extension user can easily keep track of voice messages left at their DSX office keyset by usingone of the Notification options or by setting up Group Mailboxes. Notification works best when the messagecontent and setup of the DSX office keyset and Mobile IP Extension mailboxes do not have to be the same. GroupMailbox is preferred when everything should be shared.

Using Notification

There are two types of notification that can help a Mobile IP Extension user coordinate with the mailbox onthe DSX office keyset: Email Notification1 and Message Notification1

Email Notification can send an email (with the message contents optionally attached) to the Mobile IPExtension native email account when the DSX office keyset receives a new message.Message Notification can call the Mobile IP Extension when the DSX office keyset receives a new message. The remote user can then log in and retrieve the message.

Using a Group Mailbox

A DSX office keyset and Mobile IP Extension can have the same Group Mailbox. Messages left in the GroupMailbox are available to both extensions; a message deleted from the Group Mailbox is deleted for both users. The notification options and other mailbox settings are identical for the DSX office keyset and Mobile IPExtension.

Outgoing CallsAll the outside lines in the DSX are available to the Mobile IP Extension. Users can access these lines via:

• Line Group Access (9 + Outside number).• Line Dial-up (#9 + Line Number + Outside number).• Direct Line Access (Line extension number + Outside number).

Mobile IP Extension users can place Intercom calls by dialing a co-worker's extension number and tapping thecall button.

Additionally, Personal and Company Speed Dial numbers are available via Intercom codes (#701-720 forPersonal Speed Dial and #201-299 for Company Speed Dial).1 Requires IntraMail Pro.
