Moment 10/11 Catalog

Moment exists today because seven years ago, nobody

was listening. � e industry was oblivious to the commu-

nity, and when we couldn’t buy the skis we wanted, we

decided to make them ourselves. We worked carefully

with the best materials we could fi nd, because breaking

one meant spending days pressing out a new pair. We

did it by hand, because there was no other way.

While years of practice have made us faster, the process

and the passion remain the same.

Moment is growing, but please don’t call us business-

men. We are skiers. We still design, press, and test all

our skis in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Range. We

use the best materials available and we still do it all by

hand, not because we have to but because that’s how we

believe skis should be made.

� e Moment line consists of 16 handmade skis, tailored

to every type of riding possible. And this year, we’re

extremely proud to introduce Moment Outerwear. Every

design comes from within Moment, and we hope the

resulting collection will resonate with you as a skier.

CORE TYPES� e core is the heart of every ski. We source solid aspen, pine, and ash planks from the best FSC-certifi ed lumbermills in the USA, mills that understand the high standard of top-grade clear wood that needs to go into our ski cores. Each Moment core consists of full-length vertical laminates for consistent fl ex, CNC machined in-house to the strictest possible tolerances. Forest Stewardship Certifi cation means the wood in our cores comes from forests that are sustainably managed.

ASPEN/PINE CORE : � ese two woods used together provide a strong and lively fl ex. Aspen keeps the ski light and poppy while pine adds strength and rigidity.

ASPEN/ASH CORE : We use this combination on the skis that really take a beating. Ash provides amazing binding retention, strength and dampening. Aspen adds life and lighter weight to the core.

DENSITY-TUNED CORE : Wide skis need a strong core, but no one likes a heavy ski. We designed our Density-Tuned core to provide strength and durability while reducing the weight in every possible lo-cation. � is core has twin ash stringers underfoot for binding retention with aspen everywhere else to reduce weight and make your powder days better.

Twin Rocker:� e most playful of all Moment camber designs, Twin Rocker features a fl at profi le underfoot with an early-rising rockered tip and tail. Designed for pow-

der, this camber profi le surfaces quickly, allowing you to fl oat, pivot and smear turns in variable snow without catching an edge.

Tip Rocker:For the directional charger. � is camber profi le gives a ski the strength and edging power of a cambered ski with a strong tail, while the rockered tip speeds

turn initiation, blasts through the crud, and planes quickly in the powder.

BASE – Our extra-thick, US-made DuraSurf sintered 4001 bases take a beating while still staying fast. � ey are harder and have better wax absorption properties than extruded bases. We use sublimated

graphics to eliminate the cracking and peeling common to die-cut bases.

EDGE – We source our edges from the industry’s most-recognized manufacturer. � ey arrive from Austria hardened to 48 Rockwell, and we perform additional heat-treating in-house to adjust the hardness

and ductility of the steel, ensuring you get the most life out of your skis.

LAMINATES – We use our laminates to fi ne-tune the fl ex profi le of our skis. Triaxial fi berglass, woven in a 0°/45°/-45° fashion, provides maximum strength and resistance against twisting. Biaxial glass comes

in a 0°/90° or 45°/-45 ° weaves, which are more specifi c to either longitudinal or torsional strength. Unidirectional fi berglass helps tune longitudinal fl ex. Diff erent weave weights further help us to perfect

how the ski feels.

CARBON FIBER – We also use carbon fi ber stringers in several models where more pop and snap are desired. Carbon fi ber is expensive and hard to work with, but the cost is compensated by its extreme

strength and lightweight properties.

SIDEWALL – Extruded UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is the sidewall material we use for every pair of skis. It is extremely light, durable, and resistant to separation.

TOPSHEET – We use four diff erent types of topsheet materials, enhanced with sublimated graphics—a non-toxic and eco-friendly alternative to silk screening. Each topsheet choice is made to ensure optimal

durability and impact resistance while maintaining crisp and bright graphics.

RESIN – We developed the epoxy resin system used in every pair of our skis with the manufacturer to provide the best properties possible. Custom-formulated for fl exibility, durability, and unmatched bond-

ing strength, our resin is what keeps everything together. Made in the USA.
