MISSION STATEMENT

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and

active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy

issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

PREFACE

The 2009 edition of the Monroe County Governmental Officials List is provided as a

service to local residents by the League of Women Voters of Bloomington-Monroe

County. This annually updated booklet includes the names and addresses of elected

and appointed officials, citizen membership on boards and commissions, and

meeting times and other appropriate information.

In updating the Officials List, the League tries to be current and accurate. Informa-

tion for this booklet was collected in February and March 2009. Some positions

remain unfilled, and the terms of some members listed in this booklet have expired.

It is the policy of most boards and commissions to have members serve until they are

replaced or reappointed. In addition, during the year, changes occur in personnel and

in meeting times and places. We encourage you to verify any required information

with the appropriate office.

The following County boards and commissions are newly added this year to the

Officials List: Monroe County CARES Board, Cemetery Commission, Common

Construction Wage Committee, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, Licensing

Board, Lake Lemon Conservancy District Board, and Public Defender Board.
