Contribute to Strategic Planning at YRDSB - Upcoming Town Halls

York Region District School Board is re-visioning its Multi-Year Plan (MYP) and Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well-

being. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting the strategic direction of public edu-cation in York Region public schools. The MYP incorporates the direction established by the Trustees with feedback received from all stakeholders, and will inform decision making at the Board in the years to come. Town halls will be taking place across the region and feedback collected from families and community members will inform the creation of a new MYP. Your voice is important and your input and feedback will help York Region District School Board support student achievement and well-being. There will also be other opportunities, including a survey available in April, to share your thoughts if you are una-ble to attend a town hall.

Reminder: Due to an increasing number of food allergies and sensitivities within our school community, in addition to other food restrictions for health and religious reasons, we are asking that students do not share food. Please do not send birthday cakes or cupcakes etc. to school. If your child would like to share something to celebrate his/her birthday, consider non-edible alternatives such as stickers or pencils or donating a book to the classroom library.

If you are moving away from the Moraine Hills P.S. area, or if your children will not be return-ing next year for any other rea-son (besides graduation), please let us know as soon as possible. This information is important to us as we begin organizing clas-ses for next year.

LOST AND FOUND Our collection of Lost and Found items has grown and is overflowing! Items will be on display in the front foyer until March 9th. Please encourage your children to check out the display and claim lost items. All unclaimed items will be do-nated to benefit those in need.

Be Compost Smart!

Does your child know what goes in the com-

post bin?

Here at Moraine Hills, we collect the classroom

compost daily…

What can be included? Kleenex/tissues

Paper towels

Food waste such as banana peels,

egg shells, meat bones, apple cores,

fruit pits, sandwich crusts

NO food wrappers, utensils, whole sandwiches

or lunches, foil or plastic wrap

Please encourage your child to compost at

school to make his or her boomerang

lunch even lighter coming back home!

(Avoiding unhealthy snacks, candy, take-

out food with lots of wrapping makes this

so much easier)
