Mrs. Nancy Ruth Scantling Nancy was born on Sunday, February 17, 1952 in Tyler, Texas to Billy Dalvin and Billie Louise Benthall Thornton. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Hospice of East Tex-as in Tyler, Texas.

She was a graduate of John Tyler High School and later attended Tyler Junior College where she majored in Journalism. She was a U. S. Army veteran.

During her years as a house-wife she devoted much time to her passions of reading and writing novels.

Her parents, two sons, Roy D. Taylor and Rayton Taylor, siblings and in-laws, Elsie Seagroves, Alvie Lee, Gwen and Harris Ryan, Larry Hockenberry and Richard Thull all preceded her in death.

Those that remain to cherish her memory are her husband of 30 years, Joe Daniel Taylor of Tyler, TX; a son, Jeffrey Thornton and his wife, Kimberly of Lawton, OK; daughter, Ramona Hudson and her husband, Warnell of Tyler, TX; siblings, Mary Hockenbarry of McKinney, TX, Opal Thull of Wichita, KS, Donna and Danny Phillips of Daingerfield, TX; and Betty Thornton of Wichita, KS and grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
