Manufacturing Support Schemes–

3.1. Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness for MSMEs aspires to enhance the manufacturing competitiveness of MSMEs through the application of various Lean Manufacturing (LM) techniques. Under this scheme, manufacturing MSMEs can receive financial assistance up to 80% of the cost from the GOI on the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques.

3.2. Enabling Manufacturing Sector to be Competitive through Quality Management Standards and Quality Technology Tools – This scheme seeks to encourage MSMEs to understand and adopt latest Quality Management Standards (QMS) and Quality Technology Tools (QTT) in the manufacturing process.

3.3. Design Clinic Scheme - The design clinic scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of MSME and National Institute of Design. The main objective of the scheme is to bring the MSME sector and design expertise onto a common platform and to provide expert advice and solutions on real-time design problems, resulting in continuous improvement and value addition for existing products. This model brings design exposure at the doorstep of industry clusters for design awareness, improvement, evaluation, analysis and design-related intervention. It aims to enhance industry competitiveness and productivity with the help of design intervention at various functional levels.

3.4. National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme- The NMCP is the nodal programme of the government of India to develop global competitiveness among Indian MSMEs. There are 10 components under the NMCP targeted at enhancing the entire value chain of the MSME sector. It includes programmes like establishment of new tool rooms, benchmarking of the global competitors, enhancing of product and process quality, cost reduction through lean manufacturing techniques, etc. The programme is to be implemented through the public-private partnership mode with close physical and financial participation of the MSME sector.
