“garden delight”
By margaretha maryk
Margaretha photographed this lovely spring scene last year at the Roozengaarde Tulip
Garden in west Mount Vernon. This image won First Place in the Flower category of the
Mt Baker Camera Club Photo-of-the-Year competition for 2010. It is an inspiration for
all of us as we look forward to the spring flower season that is just around the corner.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: Tues., Mar. 29, 6:00pm, Crown Hill Methodist Church, 8500 14th Ave NW, Seattle
Seattle Photographic Society has taken on the task of judging the PSA Open EID (Electronic Imaging Division) Interclub Competition for this third round. This is an international competition with clubs from all over the world including Argentina, Australia, Poland, England, Canada and the following states; Connecticut, Montana, N. Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, NY, Wisconsin, Illinois, California, New Hampshire, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Washington, New Jersey, Arizona, Texas, and Oregon etc. There will be over 250 projected images. SPS would like to invite all club members to attend to observe some wonderful images, and observe judging at a level different than done at our clubs, using PSA competition style judging. This should be of interest especially to the NWCCC clubs that entered this competition. There will be no commentator but just the judging to get a final result. It should also offer interest to the audience by seeing great images from around the world taken by different societies. They will be able to see different perspectives and styles of photography. We only ask that the audience remain respectfully quiet during the judging. The audience may arrive at any time, come and go as you please as long as you do it quietly and don not disturb the process. There will be an intermission with refreshments.
Look forward to seeing you there. Sam Ruljancich, SPS President Sat.–Sun., April 2–3, PSA Inland Empire Chapter Seminar in Spokane.

A Note from the President Greetings, For those not able to attend we had an enjoyable evening at our Photo of the Year Awards Dinner. The food was tasty and abundant, Marilyn did a great job of decorating the tables, and F-67 did an admirable job of evaluating our images and picking the winners in each of the categories. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to everyone who submitted images for consideration. It was a great show. Vince Streano put on an interesting and informative presentation on his work as a commercial industrial photographer, showing many fine examples of his work as well as insight into how he created the images. It was a change of pace from the type of photography that most of us usually pursue. Vince also gave us a peak into his personal photographic interests, just to let us know he‟s about more than just industrial imagery. Spring is fast approaching, so perhaps we should assess the interest in a Saturday or Sunday morning wildflower field trip. I have been on several of these in the past, and have found them to be an excellent opportunity to observe and get some pointers on macro photography from some of the members that are very proficient in this aspect of photography. Give it some thought, and we‟ll talk about it at the next meeting. Hope to see everyone at the March 18th meeting. Jack
