TECHNICAL DETAILS

The vehicle has been designed to reduce as much as possible the production costs:

- most of the components are standard components derived from the bicycle sector and the electric sector

- components related to the frame are made welding pipe

- plastic components are made using the simplest technologies: thermo-molding and roto-molding

In September 2006 MULO took part in a non-competitive race, dedicated to innovative low emissions vehicles, from Rome to Maranello (591 km)

THE OBJECTIVE IS TO BUILD AN EUROPEAN-AFRICAN NETWORK OF

UNIVERSITIES TO TACKLE THE ISSUE OF THE INDUSTRIAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT.

THE FINAL GOAL IS TO SET UP A CONTINUOUS COOPERATION BETWEEN INDUSTRY AND UNIVERSITY IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ADVANTAGES TO LOCAL

INTERACTION STORY-BOARD

1A partnership

between CPUT, DWDE and

Shonaquip is set-up. The aim

of the partnership is to

implement a mobility service

for phisically challanged

people.



2The partnership

designs the system, the

service and the product (in

collaboration with Polimi and

Ipsia, and in case with some

Italian companies).



3Shonaquip and DWDE manage

the purchase and production of components,

and the vehicles assembly. They

will keep the ownership of the

vehicles.



4DWDE and Shonaquip

explain to the Reconstricted Team how to

mantain and use the vehicle. The

Reconstructed team in fact will

manage the service.



5Family of

disabled student communicates to the service

provider the mobility needs of the student.



6The

Reconstructed team manages

all the data using a

database. Moreover it works as a

service hub for people who want

to work as drivers.



7The students

transportation is managed by the

Reconstructed team, and done by hired drivers.



8Student, but also elderly people, are

transported to the school, hospital, or

wherever they need. There

should be no fee for them. Maybe there could be a

contribution coming from the

schools and or the hospitals.



9Vehicles can be

also use to transport people

and tourists within the city

centre. This service could

represent another source

of revenue.



10When vehicles

are not used they can be

used to produce electric energy,

that could be sold to the local energy supplier.

This could represent

another source of revenue.



11Shonaquip and

DWDE take care of the

maintenance and repairs of

the vehicle, as well as the reuse

of components and recycling of

materials.


TRANSITION PATH

WE DON’T DESIGN ONLY THE PSS SOLUTION, BUT ALSO THE PROPER CONDITIONS TO FOSTER THE DISSEMINATION OF THE SOLUTION ITSELF. IN OTHER WORDS WE ALSO DESIGN THE TRANSITION PATH TO SUPPORT THE EXPERIMENTATION, INTRODUCTION AND SCALING-UP OF THE SOLUTION
