Multi-Tiered Systems of
Support ACADEMICS: Tier 1: Classroom teachers utilize several research-based activities provided through the given curriculum and textbooks to assist students at varying levels. Tier 2: Leveled interventions are available within the Math Expressions materials and the Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) that are used to help students needing additional support. Tier 3: The Tier 3 Interventionist use Math Recovery, which is an intensive math support program for students in grades K-4, and Fundations, Wilson Phonics, and Reading A-Z for reading support. BEHAVIOR: Tier 1: Classroom teachers utilize school-wide behavior expectations. Specific charts are made for students needing extra support. Tier 2: Programs available for students needing additional support beyond the classroom are: Check In/Check Out, Mentoring, and specific guidance groups. Tier 3: When students need more specific assistance with behavior, a functional behavior assessment will be done to help identify specific strategies to help us build student success.
Ways to Be Connected to Your Child’s School
Ø Review the “Waupaca Way” with
your child. Ø Take the time every day to ask
your child about his/her day at school.
Ø Make sure your child is ready
every day. Ensure a good night’s sleep.
Ø Provide a quiet time and space for
your child to do homework nightly. Ø Keep in touch with your child’s
teacher – agenda, email, or call. Ø Encourage your child to use
appropriate language and tone of voice.
Ø Practice positive phrases with your
child, such as “Please,” “Thank you,” “Excuse me,” and “I’m sorry.”
Ø Be a visible part of your child’s day
– every day. Ø Attend parent/teacher group
meetings monthly and other school activities as your schedule allows.
