Gender?

MaleFemale

The questionnaire was handed to 6 females and 4 males, which would equate to a 60% female audience, generally speaking, when the music magazine has been distributed. However, these results were purely based on who was given the questionnaire. The final outcome is a result of choice, and to avoid bias I could have given the questionnaire to an equal amount of males and females.

Preferred Music Genre?

IndieRockPopRap

According to the results, Rock is the most favoured genre of music, closely followed by Pop, then Indie and finally Rap. With Indie music being what was initially intended for the music magazine, I do not plan on denying that the spotlight, therefore I am deciding to focus primarily on Indie music, integrating Indie Rock and Indie Pop as subgenres. This ensures that I cater for the audience simultaneously.

Drawn To Most?

Main ImageColour SchemePromotionsArticles

The questionnaire indicates that if the audience were to be enticed by any physical feature of the magazine, it would be the main image that gages their attention most, closely followed with the colour scheme which nicely associates itself with any image. To satisfy the audience I will put great detail into the images and coinciding colours of my magazine in order to make it prominently appealing.

Name Of Magazine?

NovelUpBeatMusic TimesDaily MusicRock DailyThe New World

Novel is a clear winner in the agreement of a name for the music magazine. This was my favourite, chosen as a derivative of ‘novelty’, relating to images of independence and unique differences from others. The audience decided this was most effective, although some decided on names of their own. Going with majority, Novel is personally an ideal name for the final product.

Slogan?

YesNoDon't Mind

When asked whether a slogan is more likely to draw a reader in, the audience largely told me they didn’t mind whether a slogan was included or not. The next percentage from that is with the answer Yes. As a conclusion of these results, adding a slogan to the final product is more likely going to attract readers, so the inclusion of one would significantly benefit the music magazine.

Other Media Platforms?

YesNoDepends

These answers suggest the largest number of my music magazine audience is likely to be technophiles, which is stereotypically expected in the 21st century. 2 people who answered the questionnaire wrote accessing different platforms to read the magazine would depend on how much they actually enjoy the content, and how engaging it really is.

Purchase Or Pick Up?

PurchasePick Up

Browsing briefly through the music magazine is generally what the audience is likely to do, only 30% are willing to purchase the created product and read it thoroughly. This is implicative of a cheap price, in a bid to tempt the audience into buying it due to a manageable and ‘wallet friendly’ cost.

Included As Main Image?

Male ArtistFemale ArtistFemale GroupDon't Mind

Most people who answered the questionnaire don’t mind who is presented on the cover as the main image. Although the second largest percentage would see a female artist as being most encouraging in the choice to buy the product, most probably a result of the larger female audience percentage. Taking into account these results, I will photograph whoever suits the intended music genre most.

Bands/Artists?

DaughterShawn MendesHippo CampusFallout Boy

Shawn Mendes is a popular voted artist for those who would specifically like to see somebody in the music magazine. The other 3 decided bands are either particularly niche, or twist toward an alternative take on Indie music, which I will happily include in the final product. Reasons why these people have been chosen largely surround the fact they are talented and influential.

Preferred Section?

ReviewsInterviewsFeaturesGigs/FestivalsOther Media

Reviews of albums/downloads and interviews with artists have come out as the most popular sections within a contents page that would encourage my specific audience to read what is inside. Closely following is coverage of film/television/video games, which suggests my audience also enjoys a range of electronically visual entertainment.

Type Of Article?

1st Person InterviewInformationReviews

Information about the history and background of bands/artists appears most dominant with the target audience, covering 50% of the answers from the last question. This is good as it is an area I would enjoy writing about, because it will teach me about new artists and also further involve me in the ones I already know. Interviews directly with the bands/artists and reviews of their albums/downloads will also engage my audience most significantly.
