Warm colours create a calming, dream like effect. Exaggerated highlights and shadow give contrast. The focus goes in and out like old footage.

The sunlight from the window highlights Rhianna in contrast to the surrounding dark room. The light offers a calm background for Fergie. Both are blocked central to srceen.

Lia is surrounded by fairy lights and net curtains all framing her and capturing the light. The blur gives a calm effect. The other video uses an old film effect.

In both videos the focus of the shot is the artist however the light offers interesting backdrop illuminating them.

I am inspired by these shots due to the use of light to create dynamic within the frame .

Dance sequence

These are some effective ways of shooting dance, the location is either vast or claustrophobic, drawing the attention to the dance in both. The use of costume reflects the mood as well as the genre .

Ideas for clown makeupFor my clown make up, I would like the look to abstract and not stereotypical clown. Through doing some previous research I have been looking into dark, tribal paint that I can build on into the implication of a clown. One thing I like is the dark eyes, as Rowan my actor has blue eyes and ginger hair the dark eye make up and the black suit will make the colours striking and vibrant in contrast. Similarly, where as clown make up is typically symmetrical I may experiment with non symmetrical paint to see the effect that may create. In terms of colour, I do not want it to be too bright as this may contradict the mood of the song however I may start out with more colour and as the video continues have him look the colour in the paint to symbolise the downfall of his feelings. Similarly, he may go from a happier clown to a sad clown.
