Our Aboriginal dance group led by Jacob performed for staff and students. Following this, many staff and senior students participated in the S.A.S. Cup on the bottom oval. I would like to thank Mrs Smith and Ms Coward for all of their hard work in organising these NAIDOC activities. Music Count Us In 2020 - “You Won’t Bring Us Down” Following the success of our NAIDOC celebrations, all K-6 students took part in a whole school singing/percussion ensemble online last Thursday. All grades sang the song, then used sign language to accompany the AUSLAN version. This was followed by the Yamatji Aboriginal language remix, which complemented the teaching and learning that had taken place during our NAIDOC week celebrations. I would like to thank Mrs Troon for organising this fantastic event, which was enjoyed by all. Kindergarten Enrolments for 2021 Our 2021 kindergarten students are really enjoying their time at big school and we are very much looking forward to working in partnership with our new families in the future. If there are any families in our community, who haven’t yet registered for kindergarten next year, please contact us as soon as possible. Please note that all public schools have a catchment boundary. If you are unsure as to which public school your child should attend, please check with the office. Also, if you are planning on leaving MPS at the end of the term, please advise the office. School Uniform Thank you to all parents, who ensure that their child is dressed for school appropriately. Maintaining high standards is one of the reasons why our school is so highly regarded in the Muswellbrook community. A copy of our dress code is attached, which clearly states our expectations. Lately, we have noticed some children wearing coloured socks, socks with logos, JoJo bows, multi-coloured hairbands, jewellery, ankle bracelets, body piercings, coloured hair and inappropriate footwear. Can I please ask all parents to ensure that their child is dressed appropriately when attending school. Upcoming events!

Stage 3 CPR Course

Course: Royal Life Saving Australia (CPR) Venue: Muswellbrook Public School Date: Monday 30th November 2020 Cost: $4.00

At MPS we have the opportunity for ‘The Royal Life Saving’ course, CPR to be delivered to our Stage 3 students. This course gives school students the knowledge and confidence to administer first aid or CPR until professional medical help arrives.

The course is $4.00 per student. It is not mandatory to attend the course so if you would like your child to participate, please fill in the permission note (previously sent home) and return to school by Friday 20th November 2020.

Stage 3 – End of Year Party

Date: Monday 14th December 2020 Venue: Denman Pool Cost: $15.00 - $10 if the student has a season pool pass to the Muswellbrook Fitness and Aquatic Centre. (Please note the pool pass must be shown to the teacher when returning the note) ** All payments must be made by Monday 30th November 2020. Students who have not paid will not attend. Requirements: T-shirt and shorts with enclosed shoes to be worn to school. Thongs are permitted to be worn once the students arrive at the pool. Students need to bring swimmers, a drink bottle and towel. Please pack sunscreen if your child doesn’t want to use the sunscreen provided. A broad brim hat will be their passport to get on the bus. Lunch will be provided, each student will receive 2 x sausage sandwich, a drink and an ice block. If you child requires additional food, they will need to bring it with them as students are not permitted to purchase food from the pool canteen. Please note permission notes were sent home with students on Monday.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

We will be hosting an assembly at 10:45am on Wednesday 11th November 2020.

During the assembly, each class will lay a wreath they have made together.

Reminder: COVID Guidelines

Please protect the health and safety of students and staff.

• Parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. • Students who present at school as unwell or have flu like symptoms will be sent home. Arrangements will need to be made to be tested for COVID - 19. • Students and staff with flu-like symptoms will need to provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result before being permitted to return to school. • Alternatively students who are unable to be tested for COVID-19 must be excluded from school for a period of 10 days before returning, and MUST have been symptom free for a

period of 3 days before returning.

We ask that you advise the school if your child is unwell. This can be done by phoning the office or submitting an absentee form through the Skoolbag app.

Tuesday 8th December 2020 – Stage 3

Wednesday 9th December 2020 – Stage 2

At present, Parent and Carer attendance is not permitted at this event! In the event that the advice changes, strict guidelines will apply!

Indigenous Games

The program has been run at MPS for the past two weeks.

The program will continue until Week 8.

Students are enjoying the program. We have uploaded some photos to Facebook. Stay tuned for more!

Kindergarten Transitions

Reminder: Kindergarten Transitions take place Monday – Thursday between 12 – 1pm.

We kindly ask you to phone the office on 6543 2500 if you need to reschedule your child’s session.

Jayda bounced into the office on Monday morning to showcase her wonderful work to Mr Kerrigan.

As part of Jayda’s homework she created a city using paper. Jayda admitted that her big brother and dad helped her with this wonderful creation. What an amazing team they make!

2021 Kindergarten transition Program

Commencing Yesterday – Monday 2nd November2020 Schools have been advised that Kindergarten orientation and transition to school can now resume for students with strict guidelines.

Orientation visit requirements:

• Parents and carers can enter the school and report to a designated drop-off and collection zone. Parents and carers cannot remain on site for longer than 10 minutes.

• All enrolment paperwork must be sent to school and reviewed by the school before you can book your child in for transition sessions.

The school has made up orientation information packages for parents and carers, they can be picked up when bringing your child to their transition day. The information packages are full of vital material about the school and services. If you have any questions about the information or need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to call the school.

Transition Program

This year we would like to offer the opportunity for our 2021 Kindergarten students to join a Kindergarten class for part of a school day to experience life at school.

These sessions will run Monday – Thursday and be available from November 2nd – December 3rd, 2020. Starting time will be 12pm – 1pm, your child will be invited to join one of the current kindergarten classrooms. To book your child in on a day that suits, please phone the school on 6543 2500. You will be informed of which classroom your child will attend.
