GDP: Gross Domestic Product• The total value of all goods and services provided

within a country

• How rich a country is

GNP- Gross National Product• All the goods and services for a country in

a year in two areas– $ made within a country–$ made by citizens living outside that

country.

Per Capita GDP: The average amount of money earned by

each person in a country $/ GDP divided by population

1. Write out the GDP in billions2. Write out the population3. Cross off the last six digits from both numbers

( or the last three, if there aren’t six) 4. Calculate. This is how much the average person earns

Infant Mortality Rate• The number of

babies that die out of every 1,000

• A baby has to be born alive and die before age one (1) to count.

year someone is expected to live

• Usually women live a few years longer then men
