Dear Colleague in Children’s Health:

The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), The Leader in Pediatric Education for Nurse Practitioners, invites you to join us for the 36th Annual Conference on Pediatric Health Care — Advancing Pediatrics: Empowering Today’s and Tomorrow’s Leaders in beautiful Las Vegas, “The Entertainment Capital of the World.” In Vegas you can gain more than 20 contact hours and revel in the wonders of the city by taking in a show, visiting Fremont Street or navigating the famous Vegas Strip. Bring a friend and make new ones when you join your colleagues from across the nation at Caesars Palace for a conference as exciting as Vegas itself!

This year we focus on empowering today’s and tomorrow’s leaders—YOU! The conference abounds with opportunities to network with associates from NAPNAP’s 48 chapters and 17 special interest groups. You will increase your clinical knowledge, improve your skills and enjoy exploring the exhibit hall to discover the latest developments in child health and professional education products and services. Sharing success stories and challenges, learning new professional practices and techniques, and actively participating in committee and business meetings to shape NAPNAP’s future will inspire you and enhance your pediatric career.

More nurse practitioners than ever before are gaining full practice authority and the autonomy needed to be full partners and champions for child health. I am proud to have helped lead the charge for full practice authority in my home state of Minnesota, bringing the number of states recognizing independent practice to 19. Our health policy sessions will provide you with practical and effective strategies to advocate for pediatric health care and the APRN profession in your home state, as well as at the federal level.

NAPNAP is deeply committed to increasing the leadership capacity of our members and profession. This year we are excited to launch a new professional development and leadership track. The track includes interactive sessions that are focused on your career including how to find the best position, and navigate legal and workplace issues. You can explore a variety of emerging roles in sessions about pediatric urgent care and PNPs as hospitalists. You will also hear about “hot topics” in child health policy and APRN regulation. We invite you to learn about these and other exciting and stimulating education sessions, courses and intensive workshops in the pages of this brochure.

I’m confident that what happens in Vegas won’t “stay in Vegas.” You will carry these lessons with you throughout your career, empowering you to shine as a role model to your colleagues and fellow pro-viders and improve your daily practice.

On behalf of everyone involved in planning this exciting event, I invite you to be part of this remarkable NAPNAP experience at Caesars Palace. I look forward to seeing you in sunny Las Vegas!

Mary Chesney, PhD, RN, CPNP NAPNAP President
