Parents of Year 4-6 students will receive a note this week about the Tell Them From Me survey which provides valuable feedback about studentsschool atudes and experiences – it is a valuable tool for our planning. In our last newsleer I emphasised the posive impact of regular aendance on students success at school. Students with high aendance rates get more chances to learn, make friends and build new skills. Another way parents can help with student aendance is to ensure that as much as possible, their children arrive at school on me and dont leave early. Take a look at the table on this page which describes the difference this can make to your childs me at school. To give parents extra strategies to help their children at home we are planning a series of talks to be held from 5.30-6.00pm, immediately before each P&C meeng. 3rd March 2021

Just a reminder that Covid restrictions are still in place for parents at school. You are welcome to enter the playground if your children need help being dropped off or picked up – provided physical distancing occurs. We appreciate your cooperation in not spending more time in the playground than is necessary.

Parents of Year 4-6 students will receive a note this week about the Tell Them From Me survey which provides valuable feedback about students’ school attitudes and experiences – it is a valuable tool for our planning.

In our last newsletter I emphasised the positive impact of regular attendance on students’ success at school. Students with high attendance rates get more chances to learn, make friends and build new skills. Another way parents can help with student attendance is to ensure that as much as possible, their children arrive at school on time and don’t leave early. Take a look at the table on this page which describes the difference this can make to your child’s time at school.

To give parents extra strategies to help their children at home we are planning a series of talks to be held from 5.30-6.00pm, immediately before each P&C meeting. These will begin next Monday in the school library. The first session will give you some fantastic ideas on how to boost your children’s (and your) mental health and mindfulness. More information is on its way home.

Accordingly, that means that a P&C meeting will be held next Monday from 6.00pm in the school library. These meetings are a great way for you to learn more about what is happening at Narranga, and to reinforce to your children that you value their learning. All are welcome – please come along.

Our classrooms are hives of activities – they’ve now had a month to settle in, and are firing on all cylinders. As well as the comprehensive class learning programs which you’d have heard about at our meet the teacher evenings, students are benefiting from various small group tutoring programs in literacy and numeracy, Aboriginal cultural lessons, English lessons for our refugee students and more. Hats off to our wonderful teachers and support staff for having got so much organised, so quickly.

It’s great that our students look like being able to access the full range of school sporting activities in 2021. As well as class and grade sporting programs, our PSSA teams have begun training & district representative trials are on their way. Following our own swimming carnival, Narranga’s best swimmers have gone on to compete in the District and Zone carnivals, with a handful competing in today’s North Coast event.

Stage 3 Gymnastics

We are already well into the term, with Stage 3 having just completed their third Gymnastics session to start the year off. It has been great watching the

students improve and work on their strength, flexibility and fitness. But most importantly, having a

go at new skills and trying out new things.

We have building our strength by having "static balance challenges" in front support, back support,

plank, tuck sit and pike sit. Last week one of the skills Stage 3 students practiced was "handstand progressions". This included bunny hops, L kick/

scissor kicks (one leg lifting up, one down low), frog jumps and donkey kicks. It was great to see the

students having a go, gaining confidence, persisting and realising that they could do these things.
