David Ha ube, a highly respected game off i cia l in the Lake Michigan and Lake Erie conferences for more than 15 years, died of cancer in December . Dave's involvement in wheelchair sports dates back to the late '60s when he decided to organize a program in the Toledo, Ohio area as a staff member for the Easter Sea l Society. ~t effort blossomed into the Toledo Si Iver Streaks team which currentl y enjoys widespread recognition as one of the NWBA's strongest and more highly organi zed aggregates.

Dave was a batt ler for the cause and knew that good, ob jective offic iat ing was necessary to promote and advance the spor t in the eyes of both the players and the publ ic . FOr that reason, he devoted himself to honing his officiating ski lis and under standing of the rules. He was cal led on frequently to organize and conduc t officiating cl ini cs in the midwes t . He was honored by selection to offic iate in several NWBA sectional tournaments as wei I as national tournaments in Minneapo I is in 1982 (a lternate) and Kansas City in 198'4.
