Thomas A. Edison

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways

that won’t work.

What we know:To be successful we have to…

…change the way our campus does college.

…get a good head start before the school year begins.

…be able to reach all students in all grade levels.

…use our academic advisors.

What we did:To be successful we have to…

Action Plan

…change the way our campus does college.

Train all teachers, staff and support staff.

…get a good head start before the school year begins.

Train during the first week faculty and staff return to school.

…be able to reach all students in all grade levels.

Use core teachers to implement different aspect of the program.

…use our academic advisors.

Academic advisors will formally meet with each students three times a semester.

Why it did not work:To be successful we have to…

Action Plan We did not consider…

…change the way our campus does college.

Train all teachers, staff and support staff.

…changing culture is a gradual and timely process.

…get a good head start before the school year begins.

Train during the first week faculty and staff return to school.

…there are more important things than Naviance, like student performance accountability.

…be able to reach all students in all grade levels.

Use core teachers to implement different aspect of the program.

…value of instructional time.

…use our academic advisors.

Academic advisors will formally meet with each students three times a semester.

…time constraints.

Many of life failures are

people who did not realize how close they were

to success when they gave up.

Page 10: Naviance through CTE: Thinking Outside the Box

What we know:

1.The training at the beginning of the year was not effective.

2.Core teachers are pressed for time.

3.Academic advisors were able to provide support.

Page 11: Naviance through CTE: Thinking Outside the Box

What we need:

1. Re-train

2. Computers

3. Make it relevant

Page 12: Naviance through CTE: Thinking Outside the Box

What worked:

Career and Technology

Education classes.

Page 13: Naviance through CTE: Thinking Outside the Box

Why CTE?

1. Looking at different curriculum, this department can incorporate Naviance lessons directly into different units.

2. Their accountability measures are not based on state-wide assessment.

3. The majority of CTE classrooms have computers.
