PRESIDENT’S CORNERDear Members,

As the Program Year 2013-2014 comes to a close there are few comments I would like to make. First, I would rate as a rousing success to our May Meeting Career Mentoring Program. As what may very well be the first program of this kind for our chapter, I was especially pleased to see how well it developed. Although not rigidly structured, the approach used seemed very well received by everyone in attendance. I would like to convey my personal thanks to Landon Hill and Cassandra Stuart for this innovative session. One of the highlights of this year was the announcement from NCMA National that the East Tennessee Chapter qualified to receive a Gold Graalman Award, which is the highest level for this award and the first time the East Tennessee Chapter has received that level award. The Graalman Award serves as recognition for chapter excellence and the demonstration of effective chapter operations. All of the Chapter board members worked hard toward achieving this recognition for the Chapter. I would also like to compliment all of the officers, committee chairs, and co-chairs that served on the Board this year for their efforts in once again making this program year a success. With the efforts of these fellow chapter board members, we had, what I would call an exceptionally successful program year. I believe the success of this year will assist us in retaining our Graalman gold level status. Also, please make plans to join us on June 5, 2014, for the Member Appreciation and Scholarship Reception at the New Hope Visitor Center.

intensive year-long educational experience. The program's emphasis is on building leadership skills that will benefit the contract management profession. These skills are developed through academic understanding of leadership, exposure to practicing contract managers and business leaders, and association volunteer leadership opportunities.Program participants will receive 180 hours of top-quality training.

Who participates?Contract management professionals with four to eight years of experience.

Even if this program is not for you, share the information with someone else!

Pass this email along to a contract management professional who might benefit from the experience.

Why did NCMA create this program? This highly regarded program was created because the members of the current contract management workforce are retiring faster than the next generation can replace them. This has created a gap in supervisory, middle management, and executive-level positions across the entire profession. The CMLDP is designed to accelerate the preparation of a select group of contract management leaders, helping to close the gap in leadership progression.

How can I get started?Applications are being accepted May 1, 2014 – June 30, 2014. Visit the NCMA website to learn more about the requirements.

NCMA is now accepting applications for the highly competitive Contract Management Leadership Devel-opment Program (CMLDP).  If you are interested in submitting an application and accepted, there may be

financial support available from the Chapter.  Please contact Justin Keck for more information  [email protected]  241-6445.
