National Child Prime Minister Swarnalakshmi Ravi, 15, a child with visual disability, was sworn in as the first child prime minister of India on February 1, 2015 it was at Nine is Mine Hall at St Co- lumbus School campus, New Delhi by Dr. Colin Gonsalves, senior advocate of the Supreme Court and founder director of Human Rights law Network. The cabinet of the Child Parlia- ment of India has ministers repre- senting 27 States of India. The swearing in ceremony was the culmination of a nine-day pro- gramme of child-led advocacy fo- cusing on the slogan, “Make pov- erty history”. The elections followed sociocratic procedures with no candidate, no secrecy, no campaigning and no division of votes, but through a process of joint exploration and consent-gaining. www.sociocracy.org. From villages around Pechiparai , Kanyakumari district, Tamilnadu, came 58 children and 4 animators together for a half -day programme on Neighbourhood Parliaments of Chil-dren, on January 25, 2015.

The programme focused on the role of child ministers and sociocratic elections . Group games and demon-strations formed part of the pro-gramme.

Pechiparai parish took the initiative for this.

St. Mary’s Primary School was the venue for a 4-Day [27 – 30 Dec.,2014] Orientation Course for 400 partici-pants who were formed into Chil-dren’s Parliament. The Resource-persons, Fr. Besky, Fr. Praveen, Bro. Sahayaraj and Ms. Rexelin, headed by Fr. Edwin M. John drove home effec-tively by use of multi-media the mean-ing and the purpose of Children’s Parliament as well as the aptitudes and roles of leaders.

In the view of protecting the nature, the Children’s Parliamentarians of Siluvai nagar have decided to plant saplings on February 4, 2015. As dis-cussed in the Children’s Parliament, then they are plant the 30 saplings in the St.Mary Immaculate High school, Kanyakumari. They are collaborated with “Friends for Nature’’ and “District Forest Office” done this memorable moment.

For 60 ministers along with volunteers, hailing from 3 different blocks, under the animation of Sahayaraj and Rexselin from NCN Central Office, there was an inten-sive training program on 7th December at VTCR, Madu-rai.

It was officially inaugurated by VTRC Director, Mr.Raju. In his introductory speech he explained to the audience that listened to him in rapt attention what Children’s Parliament was all about, its scope and dynamics. He also emphasized on the need for such a forum for children to avail themselves of their basic rights and have access to

opportunities to develop their skills and talents. A drama that was enacted highlighted the aforesaid message. Before the selection of new ministers at District-level, the aptitudes of persons to be chosen, and their rights and duties were dealt with in detail. Apart, the selection process was ex-plained to them. Consequently, the District-l level ministers were selected by consensus.

In Colachel, Kanyakumari District, garbage cleaning activity was conduct-ed in the harbor area on January 26, 2015 .

Nearly 140 Child parliamentarians and 10 Animators took part in the cleaning activity.

With Sr. Vasanthi welcoming the Trainers, Mr. Prabin and Ms. Rexselin, as well as Members had to think for themselves what were actually the problems of the people and how to help people draft petitions that the people could personally sub-mit to the concerned Departments. It was also a time for the participants to raise a few questions for clarification. The Animators answered all their ques-tions satisfactorily. The sessions were held on 6th January at St. Vianney Higher Secondary School, Palliyadi from 3 to 5 p.m.
