The Alpha-System RC combines Alpha-Basis RC, Alpha-Thermostats Remoteand Alpha-Actuators as well as variousextension modules. Designated ApplicationThe Basis RC is an intelligent base unitfor individual room temperature con-trol with wireless communication. TheBasis RC is used with the System com-ponents (Actuator, Thermostat Remo-te, ect.) in housing construction aswell as buildings of equal usage. Mo-difications or changes to this equip-ment are only permitted after themanufacturers approval. The manu-facturer does not accept liability fordamages arising from misusing theBasis RC. The Basis RC may only berepaired by authorized specialists na-med by the manufacturer.

Authorised SpecialistsInstallation of electrical systems shallonly be carried out by trained, quali-fied specialists in accordance with thenational, valid regulations and in com-pliance with the ordinances stipulatedby the local power authorities. Beforeinstalling the Basis RC, carefully readthe mounting and operating instruc-tions. Please comply with these instruc-tions. These instruction may be subjectto technical alterations.

Sources of DangerBefore opening the Basis RC always

switch the system off. To clean theunit use a damp towel only. Neverclean the unit with water or othersolvents (e.g. spirit, acetone).

In Case of EmergencyImmediately remove the plug fromthe mains.

Alpha-Basis RCThe Basis RC is the intelligent radio-controlled base module to link roomThermostats Remote and Actuators(AA 4000 – normally closed) together.Wireless communi-cation is receivedfrom the Thermostat Remote. TheBasis RC allows easily and convenient-ly to control the individual room tem-perature in different zones. The Sy-

stem is suitable for both new buildingsand for retrofitting in single-familyhomes and apartments. Installationis very simple, because there isno connecting wiring to be laid. Thespecial radio technology takes care ofsafe data transmission in the areas ofapplication that need to be served.Easy and user-friendly installation by

using the unique spring clamp termi-nal technology minimizes installationand setup time. The spring clamp ter-minals offer clear and straight connec-tions. The modular design offers aneasy extension of the System RC atany time.

Indstiks-/ klemforbindelserLedningerne, der skal sættes i indstiks-/ klemforbindelserne på NeoThermBasis Trådløs, skal have følgendetværsnit:stive ledninger: 0,5 – 1,5 mm2

bløde ledninger: 1,0 – 1,5 mm2

For korrekt forbindelse skal lednings-enderne afisoleres 10 mm. Termomo-torernes ledninger er fra fabrikkenmonteret med muffer og disse kanumiddelbart anvendes.

Wires for the Alpha-Actuators can beused with the factory-installed ferrul-les.For correct connection the wire insu-lation has to be stripped off 10 mm.

Use a screwdriver to open the clampand remove the wire.

Insert the ends of the lines into theSpring Clamp Terminals. Observe thecolor coding of the connections.

What happens in the event of a power failure?

Programming is securely stored in a special part off the Alpha-Basis.An extended power failure, or switching off of the Alpha-Basis over a periodof months, e.g. during summer mode, will not clear any of the programmedassignments.

After a power failure, or when switched on again, all of the LEDs for theassigned channels will flash. The indicators for non-programmed channelsremain unlit. When the Alpha-Basis RC has received a valid signal from aAlpha-Thermostat Remote, the associated LED for the corresponding channel

indicates the operating status for that output. This is the release for the first-open function for the Alpha-Actuators in the first 15 minutes. As the Alpha-Thermostats Remote only transmit signals when necessary (in order to saveenergy), some indicator lights for certain channels may flash for up to 2 hours.Generally, the system returns to normal operation within 20 minutes. Thefirst-open function in the Alpha-Basis RC usually activates all of the channelsone after the other for 15 minutes.Once the First-Open function has been carried out, the Alpha-Basis RC beginsthe control operation, regardless of whether a signal has been received ornot. The unit uses basic values. Once the first signal was received, the unitcontinues control operation with the current, values.

Thermostat can not be programmed duringinstallation, even though the button on thethermostat has be pressed briefly severaltimes.

Where required, use an external receiver.

After an extended period of operation theLED for a channel flashes.

Antifreeze ModeIf a Alpha-Basis RC does not receive signals from the Alpha-ThermostatRemote, the LED for the programmed channel flashes. In this case the Alpha-Basis RC then goes into the antifreeze

mode, with set on/off times for the drives: ton = 7, toff = 35 minutes. If signalsare then received again from the thermostat, the Alpha-Basis RC then switchesfrom the antifreeze mode to the normal control mode.

As a test, shorten the range for the radio-controlled Alpha-Basis RC and repeat theprocedure

Remedy:During commissioning, the sources ofinterference cited above should beswitched off. Once allocation for theAlpha-Thermostats Remote functionsproperly, test the system with thesources of interference switched on.The system will almost always carryout its assigned tasks without anyproblems.

Passive Interference:The Alpha-Basis RC unit is not installedon the same floor as the thermostatsand both floors are separated by asteel-reinforced ceiling or wall, or avapor barrier made of aluminum foilis built into the ceiling or wall. Bothof these cases can result in a deadspot which can be avoided by reposi-tioning the thermostat.

Remedy:Because the location of the heatingcircuit distributor is fixed, the positionof the Alpha-Basis RC can not be chan-ged. Therefore, the Alpha-Basis RCcan be provided with an optional ex-ternal receiver AB EX 4060. This recei-ver is equipped with a 5 m lead andcan be mounted at positions whichcan receive signals from the Alpha-Thermostat RC without any interfe-rence.

termostaterne fordeles rigtigt, så rum-mene tilknyttes det korrekte varme-program.

Heating Program with TimerModuleThe heating and setback periods forthe Heating Programs C1 and C2 canbe controlled automatically and inde-pendently of one another by usingthe 2-channel TimerModule.

Hvad sker der efter en strømafbrydelse ?Programmeringen er fast lagret i et specialmodul i NeoTherm Basis Trådløs.Selv ved længere strømafbrydelser eller slukning af NeoTherm Basis Trådløsi flere måneder, f.eks. i sommerferien, slettes de programmerede indstillingerikke.

Efter en strømafbrydelse eller efter genstart blinker dioderne for de aktiveredekanaler. De ikke programmerede kanalers dioder forbliver slukkede. Så snartNeoTherm Basis Trådløs modtager et gyldigt signal fra en rumtermostat,indikeres udgangens driftstilstand ved hjælp af den tilknyttede kanals diode.Det sker i løbet af de første 15 min, hvor termomotorernes First-Open-funktion

aktiveres. For at spare energi sender termostaterne kun, når det er nødvendigt,og derfor kan nogle af kanalernes dioder blinke i helt op til 2 timer. During the first 20 seconds the Alpha-Basis performs a self-test, after it hasbeen put into operation. After thistest, all of the heating zones are acti-vated one after the other for 15 minu-tes. Right after the self-test, heatingzones can be programmed.

Testing of radio transmissionTesting of radio transmission shouldalways be performed from the plan-ned installation location of the Alpha-Basis RC.

Pressing the button on the Alpha-BasisRC activates the heating zone (drive)for 6 minutes, regardless of the cur-rent switching status for that heatingzone (Actuators).

If programming can not be made withthe Alpha-Basis RC, or the program-med heating zone is not activatedduring the function test, the receptionconditions for the Alpha Basis RC arepoor. An optional external receiver isavailable for such cases (page 22).

Radio TransmissionControl operation begins after alloca-tion the Alpha-Basis RC to the heatingzones. The thermostat transmits thecode, the set desired value and theactual ambient temperature value tothe Alpha-Basis. The code is used bythe Alpha-Basis RC to assing the data.

A data telegram is sent every 9 - 10minutes by the Alpha-Thermostat Re-mote when the temperature, the desi-red value or the function switch ischanged.

If no change is detected, the Alpha-Thermosta Remote transmits at itsminimum rate - once every hour.

Funktionstest/Operational Tests Functions

Varmezonernes funktionsindikatorEfter indstilling viser funktionsindika-toren den aktuelle tilstand for varme-zonens udgang. For det meste slukkesdioden, men den kan begynde at lyseigen efter kort tid, fordi NeoThermBasis Trådløs starter styringen af detpågældende rums temperatur.

Function indicator for Heating ZonesOnce allocations have been pogram-med, the heating zone indicator willdisplay the current switching statusfor the output of the heating zone.Usually, the LED will go out; it maylight up again a short time after, whenthe Alpha-Basis RC starts to regulatethe temperature of this room.

The LED also lights up when the Alpha-Basis RC has not ended its 15 minuteactivation routine (see page 11, Com-missioning). The LED also lights upwhen the SET button has been pressedinadvertently several times while pro-graming the heating zones. In thiscase, the Alpha-Basis RC will performa radio test directly after pro-gramming, i.e. the output concernedwill be activated for 6 minutes, regard-less of the current control program.

Test af zoneindstilling/Testing of Zone Allocation

Hvis NeoTherm Basis Trådløs indenfor de 3 min indstillingsmodus ikkemodtager et signal fra en rumtermo-stat, forlades indstillingsmodus auto-matisk.

Test af indstilling:Efter programmering kanindstillingen afprøves vedat tænde/slukke NeoTherm

Basis Trådløs (træk netstikket ud, ogvent 5 sek.). Afvent selvtest. Alle Neo-Therm Basis Trådløs’s indstillinger vises,ved at dioden ud for de valgte varme-zoner blinker. Når NeoTherm BasisTrådløs har modtaget signalet fra dentilhørende rumtermostat, slukkes di-oden, og udgangens status vises.Alt efter rumtermostatens indstillingkan denne tilstand vare helt op til 2timer.

Tildeling af flere varmezonerHvis der er behov for flere termomo-torer, end der er plads til i en varme-zone, kan én NeoTherm rumtermostatstyre flere varmezoner. Indstillingspro-ceduren gentages ved at indstille entermostat til at styre yderligere envarmezone. På den måde kan flerevarmezoner slås sammen efter behov.

Tryk 5 sek. på SET-knappen, og tastderefter videre tilnæste varmezone.

Press the SETbutton for 5 secon-ds after that conti-nue on to thenext heating zone.

Testing the Heating Zone Allocations:Once you have completedallocation of the heating

zones, you can check your settings byswitching the system on/off (unplugmains plug, wait for 5 seconds andfor self-test to be carried out). Allallocations which the Alpha-Basis has

„acquired“ are indicated by flashingLEDs for each heating zone. Whenthe corresponding Alpha-ThermostatRemote signal was received, the LEDsstops flashing and the switching statusof each output is indicated.Depending on the setting for the Al-pha-Thermostat Remote, this conditi-on may last for up to 2 hours.

Allocation of Several Heating ZonesIf the number of actuators for eachheating zone is not sufficient, oneAlpha-Thermostat Remote can be as-signed to more than one heating zone.The programming procedure is repea-ted with one thermostat for furtherheating zones. Any number of heatingzones can be grouped together in thismanner.

Allocation the Heating Zones for theAlpha-Thermostats Remote

Press the SET button of the Alpha-Basis RC for 5 seconds to start thelearning mode. When the LED forheating zone begins to flash rapidlyrelease the button. The selected hea-ting zone is now ready to receive thesignal for learning from the assignedAlpha-Thermostat for 3 minutes. Toaccomplish this, just press the SETbutton on the Alpha-Thermostat Re-mote as shown in the picture. Whenallocation has been made to the Alpha-Thermostat Remote the learning mo-de is exited and the LED for the hea-ting zone will no longer flash.

To assign further heating zones pressthe SET button for 5 seconds again.The LED for heating zone 1 will flashrapidly. Press the button again toadvance to heating zone 2. By multi-ple pressing of the button you canselect the heating zone you wish toassign. After selecting the heatingzone, perform the allocation of theAlpha-Thermostats Remote to the hea-ting zone one after the other.

A heating zone that has already beenassigned can also be reprogrammed("overwritten") in this manner.

Ensure that your labeling is adequatein order to avoid later confusion.

For at aktivere indstillingsmodus skalder trykkes på NeoTherm BasisTrådløs’s SET-knap i 5 sek. Når diodenfor varmezone 1 blinker hurtigt, skalknappen slippes igen. Den valgte var-mezone er nu klar i 3 min til at mod-tage indlæringssignalet fra den tilknyt-tede rumtermostat. Tryk herefter påSET-knappen på rumtermostaten somvist på billedet til højre. Så snart for-bindelsen til rumtermostaten er opret-tet, går NeoTherm Basis Trådløs ud afindstillingsmodus, og dioden for denpågældende varmezone blinker ikkemere.

For at oprette flere varmezoner, skalder igen trykkes på NeoTherm BasisTrådløs’s SET-knap igen i 5 sek. Diodenfor varmezone 1 blinker hurtigt. SET-knappen skal trykkes ind endnu engang, hvorved NeoTherm Basis Trådløsskifter til varmezone 2. På den mådekan man ved at trykke flere gange påSET-knappen skifte til den ønskedevarmezone. Derefter skal man, somfør nævnt, indstille termostaterne tilden ene varmezone efter den anden.

På denne måde kan en oprettet var-mezone altid ændres.

Husk altid ved påskrift at mærke ter-mostaten omhyggeligt, således at sy-stemets indretning senere kan fastslås.

Slip knappen igen, når dioden forkanal 1 blinker hurtigt (ca. 1 ganghvert 0,15. sek.). Dioden blinker i 3min.When the LED for channel 1 beginsto flash rapidly (every 0.15 sec) releasethe button. (LED flashes for 3 minutes.).
