Challenge
However, I consider my life
worth nothing to me, if only
I may finish the race and
complete the task the Lord
Jesus has given me--the task
of testifying to the gospel of
God's grace.
~ Acts 20:24
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view
of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as
living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to
God--this is your spiritual act of wor-
ship. ~ Romans 12:1
When it comes to our witness as disci-
ples of Jesus, as living sacrifices, we
must focus on, understand, and live out,
the 3 s’s: surrender, sacrifice, and ser-
vice.
If we aren't willing to surrender our-
selves, our lives, and our desires, we
will never climb up onto the altar in first
place as a live sacrifice. If we aren't will-
ing to sacrifice, we will never pick up
our cross to follow Jesus. If we aren't
willing to serve, we have no spiritual
acts of worship to offer.
We make excuses like, “When I have
time”, “When it's clear that God is call-
ing me” or “When it’s more conven-
ient”. We become LIVING, living sacri-
fices who crawl off the altar instead of
offering ourselves on the altar. Delayed
obedience to God is really just disobedi-
ence.
When we commit to following Jesus, we
must surrender our desires as we pick up
our cross and follow him. (Luke 9:23)
Committing to hand over our life, our
dreams, and our desires to an unseen
God not only appears unpopular, but it
will also make for some difficult days.
Why? Because we are choosing to go
against the grain, against the status quo,
against tradition, and against our self-
centered human nature.
When we are ready and willing to follow
Christ with total surrender He will not
only use us...He will bless us beyond
measure!
In Matthew 25, Jesus uses a metaphor
about separating sheep from goats. Do
you remember it? Here Jesus uses this
imagery while comparing unbelievers to
goats. It is a familiar scene as the right-
eous people’s response to his invitation
of eternal life
"Then the righteous will answer him,
`Lord, when did we see you hungry and
feed you, or thirsty and give you some-
thing to drink? When did we see you a
stranger and invite you in, or needing
clothes and clothe you? When did we
see you sick or in prison and go to visit
you?'
Matthew 25:37-39
The righteous people are confused,
which leads them to ask some questions.
“When did we do this Lord?” They had
no idea that when they were serving
people, they were also serving Jesus,
feeding, clothing, and caring for
Him...EVERYTIME!
Total surrender to Christ will result in
these regular acts of love, not in isolated
and rare incidents of self-directed hu-
manitarian efforts. Total surrender will
elicit this response from the
King: "Well done, good and faithful
servant! You have been faithful with a
few things; I will put you in charge of
many things. Come and share your mas-
ter's happiness!” Matthew 25:23

Church Board Meeting Minutes
September 19, 2018
The Board met in September. Many different
committees gave updates on their ministries.
Some of the highlights of those items were:
Trustees - New Life solar panels will likely
be installed next Spring. The church is also
working on stopping the snow from falling on each
side of the drive-through, and in back by the heat
pump / AC unit.
Nominating Committee – The committee will be set
up at the October board meeting. If you would like to
serve on that, please call the office. Otherwise, please
pray and ask God where He might have you serve – in
your current ministry, or, in a new one.
Missions – There will be a rummage sale this fall. It
will take place on Saturday November 17th. If people
need to bring some items to sell, please start bringing
them on the Tuesday before the sale.
NCD process – The committee is making progress as
they follow coach Justin Nash’s input. He stated that
we need to simplify our mission, and how that fits with
our Vision. And then, seek to simplify our ministries
when we are talking about having a functional struc-
ture. So, continue to pray for that as we work through
those issues. We are planning on having something to
implement by the Annual meeting.
Pastor Jed - Jed and Traci will be trying to start a Chil-
dren’s Museum in Baraboo. It will be a downtown
Baraboo pop up shop for the next three months. Jed
and Traci have a team of 15 volunteers in the commu-
nity to help. While Jed is helping to get that started, he
will also complete all of his New Life duties. At the
end of 3 months, Jed and Traci will evaluate the Mu-
seum, as will the board and this arrangement.

Continued from page 1 “Total Surrender”
We must return to the greatest commandment, for its
truth lies at the very heart of all the beliefs and practices
of Jesus, but most importantly the expression of this prac-
tice: "`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the
first and greatest commandment. And the second is like
it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'
Matthew 22:37-39
The only way to live out Jesus’ calling on our lives is
through total surrender.
Service is an outward display of your lifestyle. Yet, God
is no drill sergeant, angrily barking out orders, or some
cosmic slave driver needing dirty work to be done. He
walks with us as our friend and invites us to work with
him on a team. The christian whose life is continually
yielded to God in surrender, sacrifice, and service will
not only be a living witness, a living sacrifice, but also a
world changer.
To totally surrender, submitting to Christ’s authority, and
dedicating our lives to his service, will bring us into the
company of some of the greatest humans to ever walk the
planet, the heroes of our faith (see Hebrews 11:1-12:3).
Let us echo the words of one of those, the apostle Paul, as
we close: However, I consider my life worth nothing to
me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task
the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the
gospel of God's grace. ~ Acts 20:24
Lord, may we strive to live as a sacrifice on the altar in-
stead of as a celebrity on the walk of fame.
