While Newquay tends to have more sand than snow, it’s definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Whether your idea of the holiday season is cosy nights by the fire, carol singing, mulled wine and mince pies or simply being merry, we want to make sure that your Christmas is filled with all things festive.

This programme brings you everything you need to fill the Christmas period with exciting events and fun things to do. From grottos and parties to parades and festivals November and December are brimming with Christmas cheer.

Thursday 22nd November Hospital Christmas FayreThe Newquay League of Friends is holding a Christmas Fayre which will feature a wide range of stalls. The Griffin Inn 10am-12pm.

Friday 23rd November Amateur Operatic SocietyStart your carolling early this year and visit the Griffin Inn to see Newquay’s Amateur Operatic Society. The Griffin Inn, 7.30pm. Tickets £4 available on door.

Friday 30th NovemberDick Whittington Christmas Panto The annual Newquay Pantomine is back with a fantastic production of Dick Whittington. Funds raised from the tickets are going to Cornwall Hospice Care. Trevelgue Campsite, Porth 6pm. Tickets- Adults £5, Children £3 (Family passes £15).

Tuesday 27th to Saturday 1st An Evening of Comedy and Music This promises to be an entertaining evening. Lane Theatre, 7.30pm (to book visit www.lanetheatre.co.uk or phone 01637 876945).

Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November Santa’s GrottoTrenance Gardens will host two days of festive fun for children with Santa making an early appearance. Trenance Gardens, 10am-4pm. Small charge for grotto.

Face Painting Come and Join Little Rainbow at the Steam Bar for some festive face painting that’s sure to get children in the mood for Christmas. The Great Western, 12-2pm.

Christmas decoration workshop Join Pot-tea training at the Newquay Arms making pottery Xmas tree decorations, including Christmas biscuit making for the children. Newquay Arms, 1pm-5pm.

Live Music Celebrate Christmas early with great music at the Koola Bar (over 18’s only), with the band Beachfield.Koola Bar, from 10pm.

Saturday 1st DecemberCommunity Christmas Fair Get in the Christmas spirit with the Community Christmas Fair. Stock up on crafts and homemade gifts, as well as decorations and baked goods from the charity stalls. The Hotel Victoria, 10am-4pm.Christmas Decoration Work Shop Get children involved in adding some vibrancy to the family Christmas tree with handmade decorations made right by the beach at the Blue Reef Aquarium. Blue Reef Aquarium, 10am-12pm.

Friday 30th NovemberWhile Santa’s off surfing, you can wrap up warm and meet the real reindeer on their first trip to Newquay! Plus snap up some unique presents at Newquay’s first Christmas food and craft festival. Get swept up in the magical children’s lantern parade, and marvel at the Christmas lights switch on. Most shops will be open until 8pm so you can get the Christmas shopping done and there will then be a fantastic firework display at the harbour to end the evening.Christmas Food and Craft Market in the grounds of The Hotel Victoria from 12pm-8pm.See the Reindeer at The Hotel Victoria from 3pm-6.30pm.Christmas Light Switch-On Cliff Road at 7pm.Lantern Parade commences at Cliff Road at 7pm then on to East Street, Bank Street, Fore Street and ending at the Harbour for fireworks at 8.15pm.

Sunday 2nd DecemberFestive Children’s Film Screening of Arthur Christmas Get some shopping done in town and take a break with the kids for a free screening of Arthur Christmas. Lighthouse Cinema, 10.30am (first come, first served).

Tuesday 4th to Saturday 8th DecemberAn Evening of Comedy and Music A second chance to catch what promises to be an entertaining evening. The first half will be a one act play. Magic Show and Balloon ModellingJoin Harry Kazzam for an exciting afternoon of magical festive fun with Gloria the emu and Fudge the rabbit. The Hotel Victoria, 3.30pm-5.30pm.

Friday 7th DecemberRodney Sumpter Presents- 70’s Surf MagicThe Great Western presents a world premier screening of 70’s Surf Magic. The Great Western Hotel, 8pm. Tickets £5 on door.

Christmas Celebration Event at Newquay Zoo. Newquay Zoo is offering a fun day out for all the family. Visit the Elves and Santa in his Grotto, with presents for all the children and on the Sunday get in the festive spirit with a carol service. Newquay Zoo, 10am-5pm.Tickets: Adults £12.05 and Children £9.30. Santa’s Grotto £4.

Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd DecemberMusic & Ale Festival It’s back! Newquay’s unmissable Music & Ale Festival will once again set the town alight with fantastic live music, alternative ales and awesome entertainment. Join us on the piazza from 11am-11pm with the whole family and plenty of Christmas cheer.

Monday 24th DecemberFamily Disco at the Hotel Victoria Keep excited children entertained before Santa’s arrival at the Hotel Victoria for a family disco. The Hotel Victoria, 1pm-4pm.

Rotary Club Christmas Eve Collection This year’s attractions include Dairyland tractor rides, Town band, pony rides from Trenance riding stables. This year’s nominated charity is the Newquay RNLI.Bank Street (outside Poundland) from 10am.

New Year’s Eve Harbour Fireworks See in 2013 with a bang! Head down to Newquay Harbour for a fantastic fireworks display which is sure to make your New Year’s Eve celebrations memorable. Newquay Harbour, Midnight, New Year’s Eve.New Year’s Eve Fancy Dress Disco The Hotel Victoria hosts a fun night for all the family. Guests and residents are invited to come along, with the option of fancy dress, to get into Newquay’s New Year’s spirit. Disco with DJ. The Hotel Victoria, from 7pm (register on the Hotel Victoria website for your free ticket).

Monday 31st DecemberNew Year’s Eve Fancy Dress CarnivalA much-loved Newquay tradition, the town comes alive on New Year’s Eve as residents and visitors of all ages are encouraged to wear fancy dress and outra-geous costumes through town for celebrations, ending up at Central Square for the count-down to midnight. Throughout Newquay all evening.

Saturday and Sunday – All daySpectacular window displays will be on show in businesses throughout the town. Street entertainment will get everyone in the festival spirit. Live music and Christmas crafts like decoration making will be on offer in shops.
