Dr. Green, Virqirfia endodontist, receives fellowship award Richmond, Va: Daniel B. Green, pro- fessor and chairman of the depart- ment of endodontics, Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, has been awarded a Rob- ert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fel- lowship for a year's study and Co.n- gressional assignment in Washington. The program, conducted in coop- eration with the American Political Science Association, is designed to provide a better understanding of ma- jor issues in health policy and a knowledge of how federal health pro- grams are established. Recipients of fellowships are se- lected from outstanding midcareer professionals working in academic health settings. Development of policy-knowledgeable faculty mem- bers in health professional schools is expected to foster an awareness of government health activities through- out the faculties and create more con- structive relationships between them and government. The announcement of the fellow- ship award was made by the Institute of Medicine, chartered by the Na- tional Academy of Sciences. STUDY CLUB NEWS Manuel I. Weisman was awarded a plaque for his work as president the past year at the Feb 26 meeting of the Georgia Association of Endodontists held in Atlanta. Highlighting the program was a presentation on "Drug abuse and the dental patient" by Joseph A. Hartell, president of the Atlanta Council on Alcohol and Drugs. The group's new officers are Don- ald McGinty, president; James Rig- gans, president-elect; and Jerome Bar- nett, secretary-treasurer. The Southern California Academy of Endodontics will host a Pacific Endodontic Convention May 21-23 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim. The clinician for this family-oriented meeting will be Calvin D. Torneck, who will discus~ "A critical appraisal of endodontic success." The Greater Boston Endodonfic Study Club had Mitchell Levine of Ontario, Canada, as guest speaker at its first 1975-1976 function. His pres- entation, "Therapeutic induction of root closure in the incompletely formed pulpless tooth," provided an excellent review of root development, anatomy, histophysiology, and the most current research related to apical radicular closure. Dr. Levine con- cluded his program with clinical tech- niques and case selections. Officers for the current year are Vangel Zissi, president; Robert Rosen- kranz, vice-president; and Harvey L. Novack, secretary-treasurer. Following presentation of reports by the outgoing committees, elections of new officers were held at the Jan 5 annual business meeting of the Is- rael Endodontic Society. Elected were A. Tamse, chairman; B. Bar-Gil, sec- retary; and K. Yorke, treasurer. For the first time, a one-day work- shop was held recently and consisted of a general review of the biologic considerations of modern endodontic therapy for the general practitioner. At the Dec 2 meeting of the Ohio Association of Endodontists held in Columbus, the scientific portion in- volved an entire day spent examining current endodontic research papers, 122
