ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Er.Perumal Manimekalai College of Engineering was
established in the year 2002 with the approval of AICTE. During the short span of time, the department has
established itself as one of the best departments of our college. There are 10 dedicated staff members with PG
Qualifications and one with Doctorate. The department has number of well-equipped Laboratories and
provides excellent facilities for learning. “The Association of Mechanical Engineers - A Student Organisation
and SAE INDIA Chapter” of our department periodically organizes seminars, symposium, Workshops and
guest lectures for the benefit of students and also brings out a yearly science exhibition “TECH EXPO”
VISION
To be recognized globally for outstanding education and research leading to well-qualified engineers, who are
innovative, entrepreneurial and successful in advanced fields of engineering and research, valuing integrity,
diversity, critical thinking, impartial judgment, change, innovation, and collegiality.
MISSION
To provide an education that builds within students a solid foundation in mechanical engineering
principles, expands the reasoning, communication and problem solving abilities of students
 To prepare graduates who have the motivation and ability for lifelong growth in their professional careers;
and
To develop and maintain a world-class research program in selected focus areas within mechanical and
industrial engineering that complements the educational mission and addresses the evolving needs of
industry and society.

From the Founder Chairman’s Desk
“Education should consist of a series of enchantments, each raising the individual to a higher level of awareness, understanding, and kinship with all
living things”
Welcome to PMC TECH, where academics and activities never ends and the students are moulded like
diamonds as future technocrats and business leaders. The institute works on the vision to become one of
the leading centres of teaching, research and extensions in the field of Engineering and Technology.
Engineer them to engage in research activities leading to innovative applications of Technology for the
benefit of mankind. Enable them to become responsible citizens of the country with a willingness to serve
the society.
From the Secretary’s Desk
“By Education I mean that training in excellence from youth upward which makes a man passionately desire to be a perfect citizen, and teaches him to rule, and to obey, with justice. This is the only
education which deserves the name”
PMC TECH is committed to develop young minds for innovative leadership in business and a proactive and
useful role in social transformation. We aim to educate students to be critical thinkers, problem-solvers and
thoughtful communicators. Our curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs enrich students’
development and personal lives. Our Career Gateway and Professional Development programs are
designed to prepare students for success beyond their academic studies.
5
From the Trustee’s Desk
“The principle goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simple of repeating what other generations have done--men who are creative, inventive, and discoverers” These words by Franklin D. Roosevelt
perfectly describe our aim at PMC TECH – Engineering College.
We have a perfect blend of academics and dynamic environment to motivate everyone the management,
faculty and students to deliver their best. We have a very competent and dedicated core faculty team. In
addition to their excellent teaching, the faculty members are actively involved in molding the minds of the
young engineers.
From the Trustee’s Desk
“If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people”
We strive to give professional education a new perspective and achieve perfection in all spheres. We wish
to assure all concerned that no efforts will be spared to bring PMC TECH as one of the top technical
education Institutions.
PMC TECH is committed to creating an ambience for nurturing innovation, creativity and excellence in our
students. We aim to prepare the young engineers and managers to face confidently and competently the
challenges and competition by imparting high quality technical and managerial education coupled with
appropriate training and wide exposure to the state – of – art practices.
6
From the Principal’s Desk
“Education, as an instrument of social change, plays a crucial role not only in character building and personality development but also prepares the individual
to face the challenges of life with determination and confidence”
Apart from delivering excellent academic content and development of skills through practical experiences,
the students are encouraged to develop through bridge courses by interacting with resource persons.
Instead of intricating materialism through only class room education, PMC TECH motivates students to take
part in workshops, seminars, industrial visits, interactive sessions, indoor and outdoor games, host of other
programme and activities to inculcate in them sound moral values, strong personality and enthusiasm.
Implementing modern learning approaches which engage students and prepare them to succeed in a
globally connected world.
From Head of the Department
It is pleasure to present the PMC MECH Pages for year 2014-15. The ways we teach and the ways our
students learn are creative and innovative. Consistently, we took into our deficiencies and transform us to an
efficient builder of social change. Many critics would confirm that the College has substantially contributed to
the process of National Development by providing quality education and thereby enabling the students to
become globally competent engineers. We have excelled in every initiative that we undertook and we have
stood together in facing the challenges in realizing quality education.
