WorthyServants

2012

The Worthy Servants program was created several years ago by Woodlands Christian parents to show love and appreciation to the faculty and staff who touch our children’s lives each day and as a way to offer an alternative to buying individual teacher gifts. If you would like to participate this year, you may donate online by clicking here and designate your gift - Worthy Servants. You may also bring or send your donation to Kathy Montes in the Business Office no later than Friday, December 14. All gifts collected will be equally divided among our faculty and staff. These gifts, along with a card, will be presented at the annual faculty and staff Christmas lunch on December 19. Please note: Unless otherwise requested, each donor’s name will be included on the card. As always, Christmas presents or contributions are never required. However, if you are planning to give gifts, please prayerfully consider thanking our outstanding faculty and staff in this way.

A Note From The Principal -- Steve Zeal I recently read a humorous quote from a Greg Laurie devotional: “A child mistakenly prays, ‘Father, forgive us our Christmases, as we forgive those who Christmas against us.’” The countdown is on. Only a few more shopping days until Christmas, and the frenzy is increasing...presents still to buy and wrap, parties to attend, places to travel, and family to visit. For many, the approach to Christmas is a period of dread. A recent attitude survey of more than 1,500 people showed that Christmas comes second only to financial problems at the top of everyone’s stress and worry list. Furthermore, some 35 million Americans dread having to be nice during the holidays. Other things people hate about this seemingly lovable time of the year are crowds, long lines and even seeing friends and relatives, according to recent poll by Consumer Reports National Research Center. No matter what your personal situation may be, each Christmas we are reminded just how deeply and completely God loves us. His wondrous plan of salvation was miraculously manifested in the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ over two thousand years ago. Thirty-three short years later God’s plan for salvation was culminated when His perfect Son sacrificed Himself in our place, victoriously conquered sin and death, and is alive forevermore. If that’s not amazing, I don’t know what is.  Words fail me when I reflect upon the depth of this magnificent truth.

I know as Christians we all understand the real reason for the season, but if we are not intentional, we can occasionally lose focus. So this Christmas, when you are putting up your lights or when you are buying presents, cooking, watching football, or just hanging with family, I hope you will spend time thinking about the first Christmas gift, God giving Himself. Here are some suggestions to help us keep our focus:

First, read the account of Jesus Christ's birth in Luke 1-2:40. Marvel again at the thought of the God of the universe loving you enough to send His Son to earth for you.

Second, remember why Jesus really came by reading Matthew 26:47-28-20.

Third, share your blessings. Tell others what the Lord has done for you. As Bing Crosby once said, “Unless we make Christmas an occasion to share our blessings, all the snow in Alaska won't make it ‘white’!”

Finally, spend some time just thanking Jesus for what He did for you. Just for you.

May peace and love surround you this Christmastime.

Mrs. Wheeler’s physics classes enjoyed the season by singing Physics Christmas Carols. The students took physics-related lyrics and set them to familiar Christmas songs. Cookies, carols, and physics for all!
