BEGINNING BAND - Any grade 4 student, as well as older students, with an interest in music, is invited to join the beginning band. There was a parent informational meeting this past week. If you were unable to attend and your child is interested in band, please contact Mr. Hoersten at the school office to schedule a specific time slot to have your child “fitted” for a band instrument and to make arrangements to rent a band instrument. The instrument fitting will be on Wednesday, January 9, beginning at 4:30 pm. All students interested in joining the band must have an appointment for a fitting on this day. Students will have the opportunity to rent instruments at this January meeting so that they have them for the first day band class which is Tuesday, January 15.

THEOLOGY OF THE BODY Parent Meeting - All 8th grade students, those in the school and Religious Education program, participate in the Theology of the Body program as part of the diocesan curriculum for Junior High. In order to familiarize 8th grade parents with the program, one of our parish priests will explain the program and go through its lessons on Monday, January 7 at 6:45pm in the Parish Hall. Parents can park in the corner lot of Reed and Trier and enter at door #13. A presentation will be given highlighting the components to the program and a parent guidebook will be provided that night. Please mark you calendar and we look forward to seeing you there.

Parents of current 7th graders, both school and Religious Education, will have a joint Theology of the Body and Confirmation parent meeting Monday, January 21 @ 6:45pm in the Parish Hall OR Wednesday, January 23 at 3:30pm in Room 7. More information will come home closer to the date of the meeting.

GEOGRAPHY BEE Congratulations to the following students in grades 5-8 who competed in the school Geography Bee after winning their grade level competitions: Grade 5 – PJ Ledo and Colin Thompson; Grade 6 – Annabelle Sweigert and David Thurber; Grade 7 – Nick Eddy, Brady Meyer, and Reid Smith; and Grade 8 –Bohde Dickerson, Tommy Le, and Efren Fuentes. These students competed in the school bee on Tuesday morning. The school winner was Tommy Le! Tommy will take a qualifying exam in January to determine if he will be one of a hundred participants at the state level Geography Bee to be held in April in Indianapolis. The state champions compete in the National Geography Bee in May in Washington, D.C. Congratulations to Reid Smith for second place! SPRING MUSICAL The Spring Musical is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2019. We are looking for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who love to act, sing, dance, or help with production. Rehearsals are scheduled for Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school until 5:00. The first rehearsals will be January 8 and 9 with auditions the following week. This year's show title will be revealed soon and sign-up sheets will be posted in the halls. We look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces! Mrs. J. SCRIP NEWS 3rd Week of Advent – We’ve passed of the halfway point of Advent; in fact, with Christmas the Tuesday after the 4th Sunday of Advent, there is just 10 days until Christmas. This is our final weekend of SCRIP sales, however, check our schedule for the days we will be available from now until Christmas. SCRIP is still the easiest way to take care of everyone on your Christmas list, allowing you more time to focus on the true meaning of Christmas. ST. CHARLES BORROMEO CATHOLIC SCHOOL LUNCH ACCOUNTING FORM Parents can put money into the student's account through your MealpayPlus online account at www.mealpayplus.com or by calling 866-662-3382

for a small fee. Or, you may send a check with the Lunch Accounting Form below to the school cafeteria. For example, if you have 3 children, send a check for $90 payable to St. Charles Cafeteria and designate $30 to each child's account. Each child who will eat hot lunch needs to have money in their meal account. It is recommended to have a minimum of $13.00 in this account which will pay for five meals. If the student may want additional portions of the main entree, then it is recommended to have a minimum of $6.00 in the general account as well. if you have questions regarding this, you may call the school cafeteria at 969-4028 on school days 8:00-12:30 or the school office at 484-3392.
