Parish Office Hours For the Lenten Season The Parish Office at St. Charles Borromeo will be closed on the following dates:Thursday, April 18 & Friday, April 19

Dear Brothers and Sisters,Palm Sunday Today with Christ, we enter Jerusalem to walk with him to Calvary. As I anticipate this final week of Lent and our Lenten mission, I contemplate one of Christ’s final words, “I Thirst” (Jn 19:28). St. Theresa of Calcutta wrote a beautiful meditation on this final word of Christ. “I know what is in your heart – I know your loneliness and all your hurts – the rejections, the judgments, the humiliations. I carried it all before you. And I carried it all for, you so you might share My Strength and Victory.” Christ thirsts for us to open our hearts to him to experience his love and forgiveness. As a reminder, I will be offering extra times for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Holy Thursday after Mass until 9pm. I will also offer Confessions at Holy Redeemer prior to the Good Friday service from 6:15pm – 7:00pm.Holy Week Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the most solemn week of the Church’s liturgical year. During Holy Week, the Church celebrates the mysteries of salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of his earthly life, beginning with the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. For nearly 40 days, the Christian faithful have practiced the disciplines of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Now the Church invites us to an even deeper spirit of prayer as we follow Christ on his journey to the Cross. The Holy Week Schedule is printed elsewhere in the bulletin. I look forward to celebrating the Sacred Triduum with all of you!5 Ways to Actively Live Holy Week1. What do you do with the palm branches you bring home from Palm Sunday Mass? Consider a simple ceremony to place them in your home. 2. During the week, pray the seven Penitential Psalms together (Psalm 6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, and 143). These are especially appropriate during Lent. Prayerfully reciting these psalms helps us to recognize our sinfulness, express our sorrow, and ask for God’s forgiveness.3. Celebrate the Sacrament of Penance if you haven’t already done so during Lent. 4. Attend a Holy Thursday Mass and the Good Friday Service. On Thursday, the Church recalls the Last Supper and Jesus’ gift of his Body and Blood. On Friday, we celebrate the Passion of the Lord.5. On Holy Saturday, pray for those who will be received into the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil. Pray, too, for a deepening of your own faith and the grace to endure any suffering and celebrate the joys of life.God loves you!Fr. Tim

And With Your SpiritLast Cor is SUNDAY May 5, 6-7:30pm St. Charles Borromeo

“[Jesus] said in reply, ‘I tell you, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out!’” Luke 19:40 Happy Palm Sunday everyone. Today is all about proclamation. It is as if we take a break from all the fasting and abstaining from Lent just to rejoice for the wonderful news of Christ taking His rightful seat as the King. “Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Phil 2:9-11 Although things change much in the week ahead for Jesus as the today’s reading of the Passion shows. Let us not forget to confess Christ to all those around. Big things coming up. Totus Tuus registration forms went out during classes as well as our registration forms for Faith Formation. I know that this is something new but it helps a lot with planning. It will be the first time in a while that you have had a returning director and I am looking forward to it. This is a way to getting ahead. Please take the time to fill out and hand in right away.New Ideas I am always looking for new ideas—if you have questions, comments or you just want to talk, stop by, give me a call or email me.

7-12 Grade students will have their last class on April 24th at 6:30pm at St Charles Borromeo.

Blessings!Dennis

“If we wish to make any progress in the service of God, we must begin every day of our life with new eagerness. We must keep ourselves in the presence of God as much as possible and have no other view or end in all our actions but the divine honor.” -St. Charles Borromeo
