Thanksgiving Day Mass The Thanksgiving Day Mass is scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, November 22. Please join us in giving thanks to the Lord for His abundant blessings. Saint Vincent de Paul In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us: “I want you to observe that this poor widow contributed more than all the others who donated to the treasury. They gave from their surplus wealth, but she gave from her want, all that she had to live on.” Ask yourself “Am I only giving from my surplus wealth?” and then put your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul poor box so that those who are suffering will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving.

The Year of Faith In the Acts of the Apostles, we learn that God has opened the door of faith for the early Church. But did you know that God has opened the door of faith for each one us and he invites us to step through the thresh-old into a deeper relationship with him. The Year of Faith is an opportu-nity for every Catholic to turn to-wards Jesus Christ, encounter him in the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and rediscover the Faith and Church. The Year of Faith is a “summons to an authentic and renewed conver-sion to the Lord, the One Savior of the world” (Porta Fidei 6). In other words, the Year of Faith is an oppor-tunity for Catholics to experience a conversion – to turn back to Jesus and enter into a deeper relationship with him. The “door of faith” is opened at one’s baptism, but during this year Catholics are called to open it again, walk through it and rediscover and renew their relation-ship with Christ and his Church.

It may seem like a cliché but it is true "the family that prays together, stays together." Family prayer is at the heart of the Domestic Church. Pray-ing with your family, for your family, and as a family are indispensable aspects of the Christian life. As pri-mary evangelist and catechists of their children, parents are called to teach their children how to pray, and model prayer in the home.
