INSIDE This Issue Brand New Day We want each day to mean something. Watching the sunrise evokes a feeling of majestic beauty. To experience the light stretching out over the horizon signals for us new possibilities, the belief that new things can and will happen. It’s a fresh start full of endless possibilities and brand new experiences. A new day carries a pure form of hope that things can be different. So, as we stand captivated by the sunlight brimming over the trees, ocean, or wherever it is when it catches our eye, it creates a feeling of hope, because this day is brand new. Who knows what it could bring? To the disciples of Jesus, those closest followers who knew him best, the experience of the crucifixion dealt a crushing blow to their hopes and dreams that things could be better. They had invested their lives, given up their professions and their families, to place hope in one man they believed could make a difference. For three years, they watched and participated as he taught with authority that could only be described as God given. They pondered at his message that sometimes perplexed, always challenged, and yet still managed to uplift them. They marveled at the miracles he performed. Truly, this man would make all the difference. Imagine their despair to see him betrayed, brutalized, tortured, and killed. It wasn’t just the death of their friend, which would be heartbreaking enough. It was the death of their hope, their dream of a better tomorrow dashed, leaving them with brokenness, heartache, and pondering the next step. His return marked the birth of a new day, one in which God had fulfilled the process to provide us all with the salvation we need. Easter is the celebration that God is at work through Jesus Christ. Surprising, miraculous events can and will happen. Each new day is a promise that God has more in store. It’s the chance to see something wonderful and spectacular. It matters because God is still here. The dawning of a new day provides us with spectacular beauty because it signifies a rebirth of hope. It’s the hope that today can be different. It can bring something new. It’s another chance. At some level, we long for each day to mean something. We want it to matter. The rising light that gives birth to a new day rekindles that longing within us, and so we look for some measure of meaning and purpose. The ones who look for more will find something more. We maintain faith in the incredible, that miracles can still happen. There will continue to be moments that take our breath away, and they all start with the rising of the sun. We want each day to mean something. Easter reminds us it does. —Trent Sessoms a monthly newsletter of a monthly newsletter of a monthly newsletter of a monthly newsletter of Knightdale Baptist Church Knightdale Baptist Church Knightdale Baptist Church Knightdale Baptist Church P1 Brand New Day P2 March Anniversaries and Birthdays P2 List of Deacons P2 Baptist Knights P2 Sunday School Breakfast P3 Love Connection P3 Children’s Schedules for March P3 Ushers for March P4 Spring Senior Adult Rally P4 Mission Opportunities P4 Backpack Buddies P4 Worship for India Concert P5 March Calendar P5 Wedding Invitation P6 Youth Events P6 Easter Candy P7 Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal P7 Soup & Salad Fundraiser P7 Proverbs Bible Study P7 Read and Feed P8 Staff P6 Easter Offering P6 The Beam P6 Food Pantry Sunday P7 Easter Flowers P8 Holy Week Services Volume 10, Issue 3 201 201 201 2013

Brand New Day

We want each day to mean something. Youth News

Valentine’s Luncheon Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13:7

The youth worked hard to put together the Valentine's luncheon for the seniors. And though we all had to travail snow and ice to get there we had many seniors who enjoyed the festivities. Many of them gave thanks to me for putting it on, but the thanks belongs to the hard-working Youth Ministry Team and the youth themselves. They did an excellent job, even if it was my first one ever. Thanks also belongs to Zack and Brittany Marshall. They performed at the event and caught the attention of young and young-at-heart alike. Zack and Brittany are music

majors and personal friends of mine. I look forward to seeing how we can improve upon this event next year.

Wednesday Night Bible Study

The youth have begun a new study on the book of Ephesians. We have covered chapter one where we: found Paul describing the difference between knowing about God and knowing God, discussed the ways in which God blesses us today, saw God's sovereignty, and that God's primary purpose is to glorify Himself. Ephesians is a wonderful book to study because the first three chapters focus more on the theological aspect of

God (e.g. how we should think and feel) and the last three chapters focus more on how we should live out these things (e.g. maturing in Christ and family relationships).
