COMMUNICATION

GETTING THE BALANCE RIGHT

Strong communication is one of the most important factors within a school

community.

This is increasingly so in a large school community such as ours.

There are two main elements to this:

communication to the community about what is going on in the school –

events, processes, policies, organisational matters

communication to parents and carers about individual children – how they are

progressing, achievements and areas of growth.

In our world there is a myriad of information coming at us through a variety of sources. Families are

leading busy lives. As a school we are constantly working to get our information balance right – enough so

that you have the opportunity to be well informed about broad school matters as well as how your own

children are going but not too much that the important bits get lost in the flood.

Currently we have many ways of communicating information about broader school matters – a fortnightly

digital newsletter, a communication app (Schoolstream), a website, Facebook page, a school sign. We

need a combination to meet the preferences and needs of the whole community.

Teachers use additional means of letting parents know what is happening in the classroom as well as

specific information about individual students. This is done through written reports, formal and informal

conversations, newsletters, diaries, class apps such as Class Dojo, Seesaw and emails.

Please contact your child’s teacher if you require further information about your child’s progress or are

concerned about any aspect about their academic or social progress.

Communication is a two way process – please keep us informed

of anything that is relevant to your child’s schooling eg medical

conditions, changes in family circumstances, home incidents

which may impact on wellbeing at school, professional

assessments and changes in contact details etc.

Strong, honest communication will benefit us all.

Winter Sports available at Magill School during Terms 2 and 3

All our After School Sports need parent involvement to help make these teams happen. If your child is interested in playing any of

these sports, please consider coaching or managing a team. Without a coach, we cannot field a team. There is a $40.00 rebate on

offer for those who coach their child’s team. All coaches need a current Working with Children Check (WWCC). WWCC’s are now free

and easy to organise. Contact Rachel Owens at [email protected] for assistance.

Registrations and payment for each sport is to be completed via Qkr! App and the cost is $80 per child, per sport. Please make sure

you have updated your child’s profile on Qkr! prior to registering your child for a sport so they are allocated to the correct team.

Each of our sports are open to both boys and girls.

For more information about each sport, please visit our website and go to: www.magillschool.sa.edu.au
