AWH ••• SEARCY, ARKANSAS JANUARY MEETING -- The white elephant auction netted us approximately $70 at the January meeting held in the band room. Special appreciation to Dr. Neale Pryor who served as our very entertaining a·uctioneer! BOTQl.TETS to Amanda Risinger and !!!!I, Formby for planning refreshments. Assisting them were: Pat Berey, Lavera Burkett, Betty Davis, Johnson and Carolyn Priest. BAKE SALE -- held in January profited us approximately $39.00. Special Thanks to Lora Sowell and Ruby Janes who also helped. W\NDERlNGS THROUGH THE STATE: LJTTLE ROCK -- About 20 ladies from our Searcy Chapter visited with the Metro• politan Little Rock Chapter at their luncheon meeting in January DFL J GHTFUL ! ! ! BATESVlLL E -- Plans are underway for two car-loads of our ladies to meet w1 th interested ladies in Batesville on January 27, for the purpose of organiz• ing there -- thank you, Louise and cotmni ttee! HOT SPRINGS -- Also plans are laid for a visit to the of this fine Chapter on February 1. MAGNOLIA -- February 28 is the date we plan to visit the Magnolia meeting.

NEXT MEETING -~ Februa~ at 7:30 p.mo in the Recording Studio of the Claud Rogers Lee Music Building. Program will be a musical recital by Dr. Bill and Neva White. Husbands are invited to attend this special meeting.

EXECUTJVE MEETING will be held on February 8, at 1~00 p.m. in the Blue Room of the American Heritage Building. Although only the elected officers and chairmen of stand­ing committees are designated as board members, ANY ?"fEMBER IS WELCOME AND INVITED TO ATTEND. This year the monthly meetings are held always on the Tuesday before the 2nd Mond~y at 1:00 p.~.

A motion was passed at the Jarruary meetin~ to u.crease the price of the tickets this year to $1.50 with the pie and coffee reman1ing $.50. Tickets will be distributed at the February meeting at which time Clatdette will announce specific plans for the show.

CHAPTER REPORTS

A WH - L J T'IL E ROCK , ARKANSAS

The December Meeting was a dinner meeting held at the Woman's City Club. Besides delicjous food, Larry Roberts, Associate Minister at 6th and Jzard, reminded us of the remar~able story of Job and the omnipotence of our Lord. GeorRe Husmith, accompanied by Vivian Gutensohn, entertained us with songs and led the entire group in Christmas Carols. The club chose this meeting to surprise Sam H~rri ngton, husband of Louise Harrington, with a plaque honoring him for the work he has done for AWH. Our sincere thanks to Mrs. J.R. Duff, hostess chairman, and her hostess committee for a wonderful evening,.

JANUP.RY MEETING -- At this casserole luncheon meeting held at noon on Thursday, January 13, :•1r. Ken Scott, Agricultural Extension Service, spoke to us about landscaping. ln addition, ,·e had several guests fran the Searcy Chanter of AWH.

Our January Meeting was held in the Pharmacy Building of Northeast Louisiana IJnjvers:ity. Dr. Phillie Jobe presented a very interesUng program on drugs. 'Plans were made for a January Rummage Sale and a February Bake Sale. Proceeds f rom the December 3c::zaar-Bake Sale were $306. Refreshrrents were served :in the faculty lounge.

DECEMBER MEETING - The Associated Women for Harding gathered at die home of ~r. and Mrs. Marion H:ickingbottom on Friday evening, December 17 for a holiday buffet. 'l h2 Hickingbottoms chose traditional holiday decorations for the buffet. After dinner t'·l d te elephant gifts were exchanged, followed by group singing. Members of this AWH Chapter voted to send $200 of the proceeds from their projects during the year and r·ledged $100 for each vear for three years toward the building of a new student center on the Harding College camr,,s" Sp·ecial guests for this occasion were Mr . and Mrs Bill Pierce and daughter , Nancy of Searcy, former residents of West Helena. The Hickingbottoms were assisted by their daughter, Sandra.

JANUP.RY MEETJNG ·Mrs. J.P. McClure was hostess to this January 11 meeting of A'.JH. A most interesting program was presented by Worley Ferguson, former minister in ~~st Helena, who showed sl:ides ~~de during his tour of the lands of the Bible. During th~~ business meeting Mrs. James Grobmyer read the treasurer's report. Mrs. Henry Sai n .. ; ::If; appointed chairman of a comm:i ttee to cell ~ct Betty Crocker Coupons and Gold Bond St ~rr?S• Because of excellent response to the hose, the Chapter plans to continue this pr.cject.
