Congratulations to all the students that competed at the New England Regional Conference last month. I was able to attend several of the events during the conference and the University of Maine did an amazing job organizing hosting. The University of Maine placed first in the Sustainable Dog House competition and will be heading to Florida for the national competition in June. The team is looking to raise funds to travel to the event so if you or your company would be interested in sponsoring them please contact [email protected]. I also want to congratulate the students that presented their senior capstone projects at our April meeting and Senior Gala. Everyone did a fantastic job and the caliber of project work that the students put out is very impressive. Good luck to all of you as you transition into the profession and I hope you continue to be involved with ASCE. Thanks to the practitioners that helped us judge the presentations and thanks to Tim Kenerson, P.E. from Advanced Infrastructure Technologies, our speaker for evening. This will be my last message to you all as President and I want to thank our amazing Board of Directors, the Informant Editor, and the committee members for making my job a lot easier. I would also like to

thank Kleinschmidt Associates for allowing me the time to serve as your President. ASCE has given me the opportunity to travel and meet some amazing people and I am incredibly thankful for that. I have enjoyed my time with Maine ASCE immensely and I look forward to continuing to support ASCE in other ways. I want to wish John Kuchinski, P.E. luck as he takes over this role. Please make sure to vote for your Board of Directors and I hope to see you all at our annual meeting on May 22 in Gray. Stay tuned to The Informant for some other fun events and activities that we have planned for you this summer.

Past President – Lucas Stiles, P.E.

I am reaching out to let you know about an exciting new mentorship program the Maine and NH ASCE YM Chapters are starting this year. The objective of this program is to connect graduating students with YMs in the area they are moving to after college. This will not only help ease the transition from student to young professional, but also develop friendships and help build the YM Chapters. We have already received a lot of interest from UMaine students! We are looking for YM mentors of all disciplines, ages, and experience levels. We simply ask that mentors help answer any questions your mentee may have about moving, transitioning to a new job, social life in the area, etc., and invite mentees to any events you are attending. The YM Board is planning a lot of fun events for the upcoming year, including an Escape Room, brewery/distillery tours, Arena Football/baseball/hockey games, apple picking, trail cleanup, bowling and more! Personally, I think being a mentor will be a fulfilling experience.

If you are interested in being a mentor, please take 2 minutes to complete this short survey (I promise it is very short): ASCE MENTOR SURVEY

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me directly at [email protected] or (518) 618-5039. Looking forward to hearing from you all!
