Dear First Presbyterian Church, After many years of successful missionary service, Beverly Dawson has now retired from active service with Wycliffe Bible Trans-lators, Inc. With deep gratitude, we express our thanks to you for your involvement in her ministry over the years. Your prayers, gifts, and encouragement have meant a great deal to her. We thank God for the way He has used Bev, and for her faithful commitment to the task of Bible translation. Bev joined Wycliffe in 1971 and went to Guyana, South America in 1973 to work with the Fran Tracy amonthe the Wapishana Amerindians. This tribe of 9,000 had only a spoken language, but eagerly welcomed the first songs, books of traditional stories and scripture portions in their own lan-guage. Bev and Fran developed lesson books to teach Wapishana speakers to read and write their own language. When Fran retired in 1994, Richard and Charlene Hicks joined the team to help finish the New Testament translation, as well as portions of the Old Testament. Chic Ruth joined Bev in 1995 to help train Wapishana speakers as reading teachers and to promote the use of written Wapishana. The Hicks’ were tragically murdered during a robbery in 2005. When Chic retired in 2007, Kaye Froelich joined Bev and they completed the New Testament translation into the Wapishana lan-guage, and to help provide other resources for the emerging Wap-ishana church. The New Testament was dedicated at a celebra-tion ...with speakers from all the villages and churches... in November of 2013.... Even though Bev is officially retiring, she will be living in retire-ment housing near our JAARS center and expects to continue to vol-unteer there. ...If you would like information about Bev’s financial need, you can ask her directly or contact the Donor Relations/Finance Depart-ment (407-852-3809) in Orlando. .. Please pray for Bev as she makes this transition in her life.. Thank you for the significant part you have had and may continue to have in her ministry. ... Warmly in Christ, Bob Creson, President/CEO Wycliffe USA

We’ve Got Mail

Dear Huron First Presbyterian Church, I wanted to send a personal thank you for the thoughtful care package you recently sent. I shared the package with my co-workers, and the items went fast, es-

pecially all of the wonderful baked goods. Please let the Sunday School kids know that their cards are proudly hanging on the door into my office, and that they bring holiday cheer to the office. Your gesture of gratitude is especially meaningful this time of year, and I feel that I have an extended family back in Huron. Thanks again. On the bulletin board you will find the full letter and Picture. Sincerely, Reis Roeber, GS-15 J-4, NGA TF-A

Member Highlights Randy and Sandy Eden

Randy, the son of Richard and Vivian Eden, was born in Mitchell. His family lived on a farm near Huron. Randy has loved living on this farm his whole life, as have many of the family members of five generations. He was in the first class to graduate from the brand new Huron High School. He served in the National Guard for six years and was stationed in Rapid City when they had that horrid flood in 1972. Randy has a sister, Renee, who lives in Huron.

Sandy Jost was born to Leonard and Lillian near Huron. She has a brother, Ron, who lives in Albuquerque and a sister, Judy, in Phoenix. Another sister, Linda (Don) Gullekson lives in Michi-gan. Sandy's Dad, Leonard, is now 95 years old and lives in Phoenix with Judy. She also graduated from HHS in 1970. While in high school she took a School Work Program class and worked part time at the F&M Bank. After graduation she contin-ued working at the bank in a number of capacities and even con-tinued doing so after being married. Randy and Sandy met and dated in high school. Their first home was built near the farm of the other Eden's. The couple had three children. Melissa Paige, the oldest daughter, lives in Burnsville MN. She works for MITEK in the Administrative and Marketing Departments. She has two sons Adam and Andrew. The other daughter, Christine (Chris) Oleson, lives in Chaska MN. She has a nursing degree and is a Medical Analyst for Unit-ed Healthcare. Chris is a Creative Director at Patterson Dental. They have two children, Cianna and Carter. And Randy and Sandy have a son, Bryan, (Mindy), who owns the cattle operation and is working towards taking over the full grain production of the Eden farm. They have six children (and lots of animals). The children are: Brylee, Bryson, Benton, Breah, Bridger and Brigs. All are home schooled. The Edens really enjoy their ten grand-children and attending their activities. (continued)

(continued) Farm life is always busy and interesting, upgrading to make the farm up to date and growing, and making decisions. Sandy says she is a farm lunch lady, bookkeeper, and taxi. Randy and Sandy like to travel to Phoenix and Minnesota to keep up with the many rela-

tives. This year they spent a month doing just that. One of their travel highlights was when they went on a Caribbean Cruise. They recently returned from a tour to Branson, Missouri. Sandy has been affiliated with the Presbyterian Church for years. She was baptized and confirmed here. Her Aunt, Viola Lehr, (many of us will remember Viola) always saw to it that she got to Sunday School, Presby kids, Vacation Bible School and to the Children's Choir (taught by Jan (Andol) Smith then). After their own children started attending church events Sandy taught Logos. This was when John Armstrong was here. And she and Viola also did some of the cooking and helped with many funerals. Sandy also served two terms as a Deacon and serves as the church coordina-tor for Meals on Wheels. Randy and Sandy plan to go visiting in Arizona this January.
