April was the month of Spring Parties…1st Grade Solar System Party, 2nd Grade Earth Day Party, 3rd Grade Wild West Party, 4th Grade State Fair Party, and the 5th Grade trip to Sunrise Lakes.
There are so many people to thank this month. I wanted to start off by thanking all our amazing teachers at Nancy Young. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated group of people teaching our students. Staff Appreciation Week was April 27th through May 1st. Thank you Zena Weir and your amazing group of volunteers. There were many fantastic events planned to help celebrate the wonderful staff we are lucky to have here at Nancy Young. Please remember to send a note or e-mail to let your child’s teacher know how much you appreciate them and all they do.
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to plan and help out at all of our Spring Parties! With so many parties there are too many people thank!! For coordinating the parties I would like to thank Sherri Nugent (KDG), Joanne Jachimiec (2nd), Jen Weisman and Zena Weir (3rd), and Jody Taylor (5th). Everyone had a great time!
The 4th Grade State Fair party was a blast! Thank you to our 4th grade parents for volunteering, and our 4thGrade Teachers for making it all happen. I would also like to thank Mr. Pape for his direction of the Fifty Nifty United States program! Also, thank you to our art teachers, Mrs. Gelso and Mr. Mills, for working with the 4th Graders on their state flowers.

Please join us on May 9th for the 8th Annual Nancy Young Dolphin Dash 5K/1 mile run. This is an event you don’t want to miss. It is not too late to register online at www.itsracetime.com. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year!! Come join the fun.
I hope to see you on Tuesday, May 13th, at 9:30 am in the MPR for this years’ final PTA meeting. We will be voting in the Executive Board for the 2015-2016 school year.
Finally, come join us on Sunday, June 7th, at 1:00 pm for Nancy Young PTA day at the Kane County Cougars. It is going to be a fun filled afternoon!! Look for the form to purchase your tickets to come home in backpacks and in this newsletter. It’s a great way to celebrate the end of the school year.
This is my second and final year as the PTA President and I really want to thank those individuals who have served on the Executive Board and helped out in so many ways. A special thanks to Jody Taylor, our treasurer. She and her son are moving onto Granger in the fall. Jody has given countless hours to both the PTA and Nancy Young. Jody has been a part of the PTA for 6 years and will be missed. Good luck in middle school!
Enjoy the rest of the year! It is flying by so quickly.
Mari WalbridgeNancy Young PTA President
Dear Young Families,
We have had a great year! Young students and their teachers have worked very hard exploring and investigating new topics and learning standards. In addition, Young students have continued to focus on demonstrating the 3Rs (Respecting Others, Self, and Property) with their classmates and peers.
I would like to recognize and thank our parent community for their continued support with homework, grade level programs, and volunteering in the building. Thank you to the PTA Board and our parent volunteers for supporting school events such as classroom parties, school programs, family nights, and staff appreciation. These are just a few of the many events run by the PTA and parent volunteers. I would also like to thank Mrs. LaVine for changing the outside school sign every week, no matter what the weather may be.
The last weeks of school are filled with many activities. Dolphin Dash, Science and World Music Assembly, 5th Grade Farewell Party, Field Day, the End of the Year Assembly, and the Fine Arts Festival at Metea.
