Dear Young Families,

We have had a great year! Young students and their teachers have worked very hard exploring and investigating new topics and learning standards. In addition, Young students have continued to focus on demonstrating the 3Rs (Respecting Others, Self, and Property) with their classmates and peers.

I would like to recognize and thank our parent community for their continued support with homework, grade level programs, and volunteering in the building. Thank you to the PTA Board and our parent volunteers for supporting school events such as classroom parties, school programs, family nights, and staff appreciation. These are just a few of the many events run by the PTA and parent volunteers. I would also like to thank Mrs. LaVine for changing the outside school sign every week, no matter what the weather may be.

The last weeks of school are filled with many activities. Dolphin Dash, Science and World Music Assembly, 5th Grade Farewell Party, Field Day, the End of the Year Assembly, and the Fine Arts Festival at Metea.

Please find below a condensed list of the various activities that occurred over the course of the year. This has been a full year and we have enjoyed participating in many fun filled events sponsored by Young Staff and the Young PTA.

Thank you to all the volunteers who assisted with the 2nd Grade Earth Day Party on April 22nd as well as the 2nd grade teachers who let the parents into the classroom with dirt!. From planning, to shopping, to putting items together, showing up at the parties, and the never ending clean up, we THANK YOU for always putting forth that extra effort. The students really enjoy these parties and without volunteers, they would not happen.

The office is now collecting names of incoming kindergarten students for the 2015-2016 school year. If you, a neighbor or a friend have a child in the Young attendance area who will be 5 years old, on or before September 1, 2015 (as required by Illinois State Law) he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year. To pre-register your student, please return the three forms located at http://ipsdweb.ipsd.org/newsfiles/news_68249_2.pdf. (These papers may be returned in several ways: email to [email protected] or [email protected]; drop it off to the main office; fax to 630-375-3801; contact the office staff at 630-375-3800). We ask that these forms be completed and returned as soon as possible.

We are pleased to offer ALL-DAY kindergarten for your child. A HALF DAY kindergarten class is also available. The hours for both of the options are as follows:

either AM or PM)• Please note that if you select the half day option, your child may not necessarily attend his or

her home school, Buses will be provided if your child attends a half day program at another school.
